We are super excited to announce that MetaOasis DAO has formed a strategic partnership with Windvane, a brand new decentralized NFT marketplace powered by KuCoin! Zzoopers Genesis, the first PFP NFT collection launched by MetaOasis DAO in collaboration with Season Studio, will become the 1st NFT Launchpad Project on Windvane!

Among all the current metaverses, which projects or which sector in your opinion will be the next blue chip?

0xTokugawa (from MetaOasis DAO): I don’t think it will be distinguished by the style, 2D versus 3D. Personally, I am more excited about the project building an open metaverse that has capability of UGC contents and I am interested in AR VR technology. I will talk about what I want to see in the metaverse project that I think has the potential to become a blue chip. From the very early Web2 project Second Life, I see an important thing is being able to build a creative economy. That would attract more people to come and stay. Let’s ask: what is the metaverse? I think it would create an immersive experience where you can go shopping or do anything else with your friends, not feeling lonely. And I’m pretty sure we are heading in the direction of AR and VR tech.

Dan (from NFTGo): We are certainly in a bear market, but not just in the NFT space. If you look at how much NFT blue chips have gone down, on a relative scale, they have gone down much less than other asset clauses. Most investors are not leveraged when they buy NFTs. That helps a lot. We should also define what is the future of NFT. On NFTGo for a long while, we didn’t think Moonbirds would be a blue chip, because it is so new, even though the market cap was up there with some other blue chips. We just wanted to see if it was able to sustain the price with that market cap and it did. How do you say that a project has potential to become a blue chip? Is it by market cap? Is it by the team? How do we consider blue chips? By that understanding, we can know more about what can be the next blue chip.

Gagan (from NFTStar): The negative point I see in NFT and metaverse is that the cognition about blue chips revolves around investment. The way I look at NFT and metaverse are really creating spaces for individuals within groups. When I think about blue chips, it is not about the financial component, it is about the community component. I would like to see a metaverse that is specific to things happening in the real world. It’s an online space for people to interact with others in a meaningful way.

Desto (from Killer GF): The community aspect is huge. Maybe in the future, the main reason why people hold NFTs is for the community. I think in searching for the next blue chip, it may just be a project that already exists and has a buddy community. Like how Yuga Labs created Otherside, the best way is to increase supply for already established communities. Finding a blue chip is difficult. Just look at already set projects. You like the community, you agree with their morals and values, and people there have some temperament for you. Just follow that and pursue that!

Mari (from NFTGo): If you wanna be part of something big, you have to find a community who wants to grow something big. Finding the peer that is so similar to you, is one of the ways of how you can find the next blue chip.

Dorothy: I have a question for Dan and Mari, since you are experts in data and metrics. How do you evaluate projects? What kind of metrics do you use?

Dan & Mari: We track many criteria: stability of price, percentage of holders, trading volume, blue chip holder percentage etc.

Many Web2 companies started to get involved in the crypto space or even build their own metaverse. What kind of innovation or opportunities do you think may happen in the future development of metaverse?

0xTokugawa: I think it is the magic of Web3: community-driven. In the long run, I think a successful metaverse is able to have a population and have reason to stay. Metaverse is more than just a game. It needs to go in that direction. Also, I’d like to see more interoperability. Many projects have quite a high barrier of entries to build things. I hope to see an innovation to bring down those barriers of entries.

Gagan: I don’t think anyone really knows what the metaverse is gonna look like or turn into over the next few years. What’s happening right now, these platform land sales, is an interesting first step, but I think in the long run, inclusivity rather than exclusivity is gonna be something really important. I have a sentiment that interoperability is gonna be really important here. I’d like to interact with the community or with the entity that I care a lot about. Connect with like-minded people in the space that allows you to do interesting things with them, the result of doing those things may spawn new NFTs and augmentation of NFTs that you are holding. You will have fun in the meanwhile. To me, the future is about interoperability, about UGC, about bringing together groups of people around common interests.

Dan: Decentralization is the key for Web3, right? How many projects are truly decentralized? We rely on a group of people to come out with new features. I am wondering at what point we can be truly decentralized.

Dorothy: I agree with you. We see even BTC is kind of centralized because the BTC guys hold the key and they can change the codes. We have miners who have the mining power to decide which network they’d like to support. If the BTC guys change the codes, miners might say they agree with the legacy version and do not support the new version. Ethereum is similar. We are hoping for decentralization. The beauty of decentralization is that we have the voting power and we have the token to incentivize the right actions.

Mari: What Web3 is bringing to us is something special. I am looking from a sociology point of view. How do people behave? Do they want to be decentralized? What does it mean to people? Even trying to understand Web3 is super scary for me, because we see different movies like The Terminator, The Matrix. It’s a crazy, crazy future. It’s sort of like bringing back communism and socialism for me. People can finally create their own opportunities and each metaverse can bring so many different things like having amazing ideas. It’s hard to answer what the future will be, but it’s a good opportunity for people to learn decentralization.

How has the bear market been treating you guys? Do you have any suggestions for everyone, especially for newcomers?

Mari: We started a Twitter space. It’s every week and big traders share how they trade. The guests will pick some projects and our audiences will vote for which we should buy. The idea is to find the next blue chip in the bear market. I think it’s a good time to buy some NFTs. There are a bunch of interesting projects with great communities. If you are keen on investing, you should start exploring now, because it’s inevitable to be in the bear market for at least a few months.

Dan: Every time when there is a bear market, we see something new come out of it. I do think the bear market is a kind of good for innovation. It makes sense for something to go up forever. Cycles are actually important for the natural evolution of economy and society.

Gagan: Entrepreneurs and projects are still working hard. Who knows when it would turn around? But if you believe in this world of decentralization, NFTs and communities, everything is on sale. So have fun!

0xTokugawa: In the bull market, projects tend to do things really quickly and everyone seems to be in a rush. While the bear market is to make people pay more attention to long-term vision to do the right thing.

When we were kids, most of us enjoyed animal stories. Even after growing up, a lot of us are still fascinated by animations such as Zootopia. We believe it is because these stories inherently promote a world of acceptance, tolerance and peaceful co-existence, something we all dream of.

Therefore we have united to create the Zzoopers, a world of unique animal avatars for our journey to the metaverses. In the world of Zzoopers, we practice acceptance instead of prejudice and we celebrate one another for what makes us unique.

Cecilia Maple, the founding contributor of MetaOasis DAO, said: “I grew up seeing a lot of prejudices and stereotypes around. Our team united with the belief that we can break the boundaries in the Web 3.0 universe. Zzoopers Genesis is an NFT collection of 5555 unique 3D voxel avatars of animal characters on the Ethereum blockchain.

There are 10 unique animal species in the Zzoopers — Tiger 🐯, Elephant 🐘, Panda 🐼, Unicorn 🦄️, Cheetah 🐆, Elk 🦌, Fox 🦊, Monkey 🐒, Penguin 🐧, and Rabbit 🐰, each with unique and distinct personalities.

Let’s take a quick look at the main recap of Twitter Space:

Q — Why is there such a buzz around virtual land in the metaverse?

Firstly, the mindset, people love real estate from all over the world, like I’m from HK, the lands and apartments are super expensive, and so many people live and squeeze in a “tiny” apartment and everyone’s dream is that they could buy a spacious apartment.

So in the mindset, everything is linked with real estate, I think we’ll catch somebody’s attention and even investors.

In Dec last year, the tycoon family of Real Estate developers just purchased one of the biggest pieces of land in The Sandbox, which means developers in the real world are interested in participating in virtual lands because of this mindset, something related to real estate must have some values.

Secondly, I think that virtual land is the key/entrance to the Metaverse. You should build something for people to spend their time and to get experience. So if you’re bullish on the future of the metaverse, you should also be bullish on the land.

Lastly is the utilities. The NFT market as a whole is emerging, most of NFTs are PFP projects, and the volume of them will be twice the volume of other categories of NFTs combined together. Utility becomes a very crucial problem for NFT products. In virtual lands, there are still many potentials to be realized, like unlocking your avatar in these lands, earning some profits by staking land, and you can provide assets or exclusive experiences for users to play in your land.

Q — How do you make the lands affordable to people in the metaverse?

Now, we can see that the average price of the leading virtual land projects is one piece of land; some cost 3 to 4 ETHs for the total price, which is a high barrier to entry for the investors and creators.

If you are an independent small design studio and want to build up your own gaming experiences in one of these Metaverse lands, you may not have the amount of money to get access to do it.

Nowadays, there are several possible solutions, but I don’t think they are very mature right now.

It seems like you can either do some renting of the lands. Like in the NFT Worlds, I have recently seen one of the hottest projects. They have some mechanisms that the owners of NFTs can rent their lands to some users & players to earn their own $WRLD tokens. This is one of the solutions.

I think there are some other solutions, including fractionalized NFTs. You can fractionalize ordinary NFTs. The land itself is also the NFT so that you can do fractionalization. But l don’t think these attempts are very successful so far. They can’t create a lot of liquidity for the project now.

So in our DAO, we will issue our token. You can buy our token, which means that you own a portion of the land portfolio that we purchased. Furthermore, we form a community of creators, artists, and design studios to build on these lands. Each revenue generated in the future from these lands will come back to the DAO treasury to increase the DAO tokens’ value.

Q — Investing virtual lands sounds a bit sophisticated. How to evaluate virtual lands and do you have the criteria?

• How to tell whether it is a good project of virtual land?

I think the most important one is how to tell whether it is a good project or not for you to make the judgment, and the second question will be how to pick a specific land in such a project.

So the most important question is whether it is a good project for us. We have several merits to looking for specific projects. Firstly, there will be some criteria for analysis. I think universally applicable in other projects will be checking the community, whether it is vibrant and whether there are many active participants, whether their team members are seasoned or crypto native, do they full field the promises of roadmap.

Other merits we are looking for will be whether it is programmable, user-generated, friendly to creators. If they cannot be user-generated in these lands, it’s not the virtual land that we are looking for.

Besides, we’ll see whether this project is decentralized. Whether it is using blockchain technology and good infrastructure.

So we will judge if it is a good project combined with these merits.

If you look at the leading projects such as The Sandbox, Decentraland, Crypto Voxels, NFT Worlds and others, you can see all of these merits in these leading projects.

• How do you pick the land in such a project?

Get down how to get a specific land in the projects. I think there are many different opinions now.

From some angles, location is the most important factor in the real world. But, in the metaverse, someone will argue that you cannot benefit from just being the big names’ neighbors.

Janine Yorio (Head of real estate at Republic) said land value in the metaverse would be determined by what owners do with a property, like designing a popular attraction, museum, or feature, rather than location.

But, if you see the data from the Sandbox and Decentraland, you will see the location is still the matter.

For example, Snoop Dogg’s partnership and virtual world in Sandbox are fetching a premium and parcels near Atari development.

So, I think the location is still an important merit.

Q — How do you design your HQ? What are the opportunities for creating the economy?

We are trying to gather a community of these artists, creators, and developers.

Firstly, to provide them a lower barrier to entry since buying land is expensive so that they can build on the metaverse.

Secondly, it is to explore some cooperation models with creators and designers a revenue-sharing scheme (they can issue their NFT or P2E in these lands), where they can get the reward benefits for joining to build the metaverse.

Ancient Oasis: glimmering utopia with rich resources

The ancient Oasis was once a magical city, the origin of an ancient civilization, that many deemed as a sacred utopia. For a long time, its citizens enjoyed peace and prosperity thanks to the Sacred Temple that provided sustainable energy and resources. The Divine Tree, at the centre of the temple, was the source of energy, which was crucial for the extraction of water. There were also animal titans and temple guards, known as the Guardians, who have protected the Divine Tree and Sacred Temple since times even before ancient Oasis was built.

The underground Sacred Temple was a long-kept secret by the wise citizens as they knew the evil and destruction that greed could do.

The invasion

Unfortunately, words of the prosperity of Oasis eventually reached the Empire. Jealous and greedy of the rich resources, the Empire sent many scouts to find out the secrets of the Oasis so they could use the resources to fuel their war campaigns. Finally, after they discovered the Sacred Temple and the Divine Tree, whose energy could be harvested to power the war robots, the Empire launched an invasion war on Oasis.

The citizens of ancient Oasis successfully defended the initial waves of attack with the help of the Divine Tree’s energy. However, due to the peaceful nature and lack of battle experiences, the citizens weren’t able to withhold the invasion at last. The Empire gained control of the Sacred Temple and pillaged the resources. The ancient Oasis was destroyed by the war.

Years later, the Empire had finally fallen due to its warmongering. The survivors of the Oasis gathered upon the ruins of the ancient Oasis to build a new city: the City Oasis. Later, some survivors of the Empire also joined them to build the city, and they became founders of the mining companies in the city.

In light of the voxel art style of the Sandbox metaverse where our HQ is located, after evaluating a number of architectural styles, the designers believe that Moroccan architectural style will go very well for our HQ.

“Moroccan style architecture will definitely appear well as voxel arts in the Sandbox. We would also like to take this opportunity to commemorate the world-renowned Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill, who recently passed away. Many of Ricardo Bofill’s works were inspired by elements of Moroccan style.” — Rjet, Lead Designer of the Season Studio.

One of Bofill’s most iconic projects, Walden 7 (named after a utopian community from the 1940s sci-fi novel Walden Two), represented his utopian vision for social living. The building is recognized for retaining a strong sense of community spirit.

We believe the ideas behind Walden 7 resonates with the vision of the MetaOasis DAO. We envision a DAO that unifies metaverse enthusiasts, investors, designers and developers to form a strong community.

A wonderland built upon ruins of an ancient civilization

Imagine a new city rising from the ruins of what was once a mysterious and advanced ancient civilization, with many monuments such as ancient dungeons, aqueducts and a sacred temple that are waiting for brave DAO members to explore. Surrounding the ruins, there are charming buildings, squares, places and exciting games that citizens and travellers hang out, meet, play and have fun.

Community Interaction Discussed ideas gathered from the community, which include: (1) the possibility of exchanging virtual lands for $MOS tokens; (2) establish a marketplace specifically for virtual lands; (3) set up a mechanism in the future public sale to avoid whale risk. Council members had a meeting with active community members to discuss the next steps and addressed questions.

As the headquarter is the first experience built by the DAO, it is imperative that we find a partner who not only is capable of delivering high quality results but also shares our vision and is eager to work with the DAO. After in-depth discussions and idea sharing sessions, we are delighted to announce that the Season Studio will be partner of the DAO to lead the design and development of the headquarter.

Introduction of Season Studio

Season Studio is a design studio composed of a group of elite architects and designers, with a vision of bringing top class architectural designs to the metaverse.

Rjet, Lead Designer of the Season Studio, is a seasoned architect and a founder of an architectural design studio. As a Harvard alumni, he is a student of Martha Schwartz (an American landscape architect ranked in Forbes’ 2021 “50 Over 50”) and Richard T.T. Forman (a landscape ecologist considered as a “father” of landscape ecology and road ecology).

Other team members of the Season Studio include graduates from world-renowned institutions such as Harvard, Cornell, UPenn with work experience in firms such as KPF and Bureau B+B.

The MetaOasis DAO Headquarter in the Sandbox

The MetaOasis DAO’s first headquarter will be built on one of the DAO’s 3x3 land estate in the Sandbox. The Season Studio will lead the architectural design as well as the development of the landscape and buildings of the headquarter.
