AMERICAN PIE: when emo-core and jerk merged into something beautiful

You know, for me, Surf Gang used to consist exclusively of the endlessly adored evilgiane and the very interesting Babyxsosa (I'll write about her sometime), but this year I discovered another cool member of the group - POLO PERKS <3<3<3. Both his old works and new ones are distinguished by very cool guitar and rock samples. And what happened with Polo when he started working with the cool producer Fear Dorian is just a song, literally. After the success of the composition "BOYBAND", the guys released an album with AyooLii A Dog's Chance, where, in my opinion, there is too much unnecessary.

But where there is nothing unnecessary, it is on the EP "AMERICAN PIE", released this Wednesday. The producers of the release were Fear Dorian and two beatmakers from NOVAGANG: Quinn and Zoot. And the style of each beatmaker is well-read here, and POLO's reading fits in well with the concept of the sound of each of the beats. I really like that the emo and pop-punk bases, taken as samples for 3 of the 4 tracks, are not completely drowned out by the bass and jerk-beat, but break through even through POLO's rough and loud voice. This, in addition to the tempo and the manner of performance itself, helps to maintain a very cheerful mood. Personally, I would like to highlight the track "SIR LOOGIE NOISE" in this small work. It is very dynamic and sensual, and also this video, full of an endless number of colors. The video really looks like something that could have been filmed for MTV at the end of the 2000s. In short, for me POLO turned out to be an artist who feels tough and successful. I'm glad that he has radically changed the vector of his sound, ceasing to be just a gloomy guy from Surf Gang, showing how much energy and passion he has.

Ocean's Fans Are the Most Devoted Fanbase

Lonny Breaux is the man who wrote lyrics for stars like Justin Bieber, Brandy and others.

He worked with a production duo called MIDI Mafia. He wrote various demos and tracks with them, which were never officially released.

This same Lonny is Frank Ocean in the future. Those tracks were collected by his fans, made into an album and called "The Lonny Breaux Collection". There are about 60 songs. His fan base even made a cover with the album title and a car in the center of the cover. By the way, it's a Ford Mustang Fox Body.

Smokedope2016: Mysterious, Alluring World of 2016

Smokedope2016 is a mysterious Virginia-born-and-raised producer who has made a name for himself within the underground music scene in no time, taking listeners all over the world back into the good ol' days. And genius, if you ask me. Nostalgia has never sounded this way before, as his musical, but also visual aesthetics, takes so much from the cloud rap era and amplifies it to a maximum. His music is characterized by a foggy-even smoky-stoned vibe and a slow tempo. It is a rather deep listen that creates an immersive atmosphere and has helped him gather a number of followers in a short amount of time in the game. Smokedope2016 releases rather frequently, so there's much material to get into. Notable projects such as "THE COMEUP" and "2016" showcase his signature blend of oppressive beats and introspective lyrics, placing him among the ranks of other notable artists such as Black Kray, Acid Souljah, and Shed Theory, who have also worked with ambient themes within cloud rap. Of his more recent work, I love his latest single "Icey Soles," which is downright sensual-easily the most sensual of his songs to date-but somehow coldly detached.

As far as live performances go, Smokedope2016 made his debut in Brooklyn, NY this August 2024. Before smokedope2016, he put out music under the alias "Fairfield," further showing the growth of the artist. With each release, he's continuing to push the boundaries and his unique sound.

This is somehow the phenomenon of an artist. While in these days any artist takes care of his appearance, this guy got widespread popularity underground, having never shown his face. That is cool.

He grew up with such projects and now wants to bring that into his work.

I wonder, why did they make films like that back then? The MTV era? The Millennium? If you have answers or suggestions, let me know!
