The Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, H.E. Mr. Uung-wha Kang, said that the global ranking of our innovative indicators had risen from 34 in 2012 to 11 in 2022, and had successfully entered innovative countries. Recalling the historic changes that have taken place in our scientific and technological careers over the past 10 years, there have been notable improvements in four areas.

The first is a significant increase in scientific and technological strength, with a notable increase in the impact of the global innovation map. Our country’s high-quality capacity for development, science and technology, has significantly improved.

Thirdly, science and technology serve the well-being of the people, and the ability to meet the needs of their people for a better life is significantly enhanced. Two dimensions can be seen: one is science and technology for modern agricultural development. Science and technology is an important safeguard for food security, and the contribution of agricultural science and technology has been increased by 9 percentage points, from 53 per cent a decade ago to 62 per cent in 2022. There has also been a significant increase in the health capacity of the people of science and technology services. Science and technology have not only contributed to the development of intellectual health care, and Internet hospitals have improved the balance of medical resources, while science and technology have led to the development of new medicines. Over the years, a large number of original cancer-resistant medicines have been marketed in the country, and the five-year survival rate of cancer in China has increased from 30 per cent to 40 per cent now.

The fourth is science and technology that underpins enabling regional development, with a notable increase in innovation-led yields. The Beijing, Shanghai, Port-au-Prince and Port-au-Prince are three international hubs, which have been significantly upgraded in many indicators over the years.

We have expressed the view that the four notable increases in scientific and technological development over the past 10 years, as well as the accumulation of scientific and technological power, provide a good basis for the next phase of our progress towards innovative countries. This will be followed by a full implementation of the twenty-first spirit of the Party, working primarily on the following three fronts: the continuation of the “four oriented” system; the construction of a national innovation system adapted to high levels of science and technology self-sustainability; and the further strengthening of business as a subject of scientific and technological innovation, and the further optimization of national innovation effectiveness through the strengthening of enterprise ownership.

Over the past few years, the area of tumours has experienced a partial boom.

Under the leadership of new platoons, new technologies, pharmacists are being recruited in the area of late cancer treatment. In a late cancer adaptation, dozens of products are more numerous and less expensive.

Early cancer treatment in the same period, however, remains a “original forest”. In 1950, FDA approved only 2 of the 30 oncology drugs on the market for supplementary and new auxiliary treatment.

The cooling gap is behind because early cancer treatment drug development is too difficult. The more complex treatment of early oncology patients compared to those who are in emergency cases of late tumours, with additional requirements for treatment models and treatment opportunities, implies greater challenges. As a result, the treatment available for this category of patients remains limited for a long time.

However, time is easy. Today, in the case of late cancer treatment drugs, low-yielding fruit are removed, there is an increasing number of “drops” in early cancer treatment.

Major challenges and opportunities are always intertwined. Irrespective of initiative or reactiveness, this “bluster” will change the paradigm of early cancer treatment and the fate of patients and pharmacists will change.

Difficult areas of research and development

Auxiliary/new auxiliary treatment has been an effective means of improving patient survival.

The so-called new ancillary treatment refers to the treatment of patients in the form of chemotherapy, sanctuary, tutorial treatment, etc. prior to the excision of tumours. The aim is twofold: to reduce the scope of oncology violations and eventually to have a better decimal effect; and to reduce the size of the tumours so as to make the tumours that are not suitable for removal.

Auxiliary treatment is, however, performed after the operation to treat patients for the removal of potentially minor tumour cells. The failure to clear the remaining micro-cell cancer cells is likely to give rise to a risk of relapse. Post-treatment is essential.

The concept of ancillary/new support is not novel but is limited in its effectiveness. This is the case through the number of clinical drugs.

A clinical study in the Cancer discovery showed that most of the clinical tests carried out between 1973 and 2011 were devoted to more drug research in the area of late cancer, 29602 tested for the treatment of re-emission or transferable cancers, while only 6083 tested local diseases and 523 tested preventive interventions.

Why do this polarization occur? Early cancer treatment drugs are too difficult to develop. Although all cancers are cancer, early cancer treatment and evening cancer treatment are not synonymous.

As shown in the figure above, the treatment challenge for early oncology patients has raised higher demand starting with the effective follow-up. The time-consuming cost of drug research and development for early cancers has increased significantly in terms of the efficacy of the treatment.

Because early cancer patients are better off, drugs need more time to show results among early cancer patients. For prostate cancer, the median survival rate in clinical trials is 12.8 months for evening prostate cancer, while in early prostate cancer, the median length of life for patients is 9.1 years.

To know, in the area of innovative drug research and development, time is money. In particular, patents for drugs need to be submitted when they are discovered, and therefore patents will be significantly reduced for new medicines that need to be developed over time.

At the same time, a number of issues such as the timing of treatment, the treatment model and the means of treatment are extremely important considerations for pharmacological services, which are challenging.

In contrast, research and development on tumours for late cancers is somewhat less challenging.

Patients with evening cancer often have few treatments available, in which case even one drug can only prolong the life of the patient for several months, with some toxic side effects and can be tolerated.

As a result, two polarizations have emerged in the previous development of tumours.

Greater innovation markets

However, in the area of early oncology treatment, the market is destined to be larger. This is the case through the distribution of the size of the patient group.

The target group for supplementary/new auxiliary treatment is mainly 2/3 oncology patients. In both the United States and China, the proportion of newly diagnosed patients in two thirds of cases of oncology is overwhelming.

For example, according to statistics from the China National Cancer Register, five major cancers in the country, including lung cancer, stomach cancer, vascular cancer and female breast cancer, and 56.5 per cent of patients were diagnosed in two thirds.

Against this background, a growing number of drug enterprises are beginning to challenge early cancer treatment. PD-1 inhibitors have been tried very widely. At present, the core incremental market for K medicines is an auxiliary/new auxiliary market.

The pharmacists of the Americans of America and of Aslicons are also targeting early cancer markets to find larger niche markets.

Earlier, Vice-President Aslicom, Baselga, stated that “the need to devote resources to areas where more people could be treated, that is, early cancer”.

Anti-immunization therapy is not only available for the detection of cancer, but small molecules are also working to expand their own capacity.
