What is Morpheus really all about?

Those who study Morpheus come to realize at its heart, its about creating a World Wide Web for DeAI. With easy creation & discovery of Agents, funding of Subnets, all executed on a permissionless tech stack.

Its purpose is to create Personal Super Intelligence by resolving the technical barriers between each project in the DeAI ecosystem. Morpheus is a router of AI subnet resources as well as a universal marketplace for any Agent.

In other words, Morpheus does the heavy coding lifts that enable decentralization of the full tech stack. How does Morpheus achieve this?

2025 - The Agents Are Here

The AI Agent boom is officially here. A gold rush to the tune of billions of dollars worth of new Tokenized Agents has roared onto the scene over the last 6 months. Between Virtuals, AI16Z, Truth Terminal, Theoriq, Flock, OLAS and dozens of others, it’s now fairly easy to push a button and pop out a simple chat agent.

In many cases, the new agent comes with an attached token so anyone can own part of it. The whole process comes complete with a DeFi trading pool set up to accelerate the new agent into existence.

This is what many of us in the Morpheus community have been dreaming of for the past two years: Smart Agents using Crypto rails would graduate from the whiteboards and white papers of 2023 into something an average person can use and see is very real in 2024. Well, the Agents have certainly arrived.

As 2025 kicks off, what happens next? What are the roles Morpheus will play? Let’s start with this. While it has been said before, it bears repeating.

Morpheus, the protocol is not building "An" Agent. Rather Morpheus exists to empower "ALL" Agents with Capital, Code & Compute.

Morpheus is building a meta layer for the DeAI tech stack that creates demand for Agents. Benefiting Virtuals & AI16Z in 2025, just as it did for Akash & Bittensor in 2024. Just as the Ethereum Foundation builds key infrastructure for all Smart Contract developers, Morpheus is doing the same across DeAI & Smart Agents.

The network effect of more Agents created, regardless of where they launch, massively benefits Morpheus’ own network effect.

Protecting Capital Providers During The Sex, Drugs, & Gambling Phase of this new Internet of Agents

While everyone enjoys the hype and excitement of this boom. Let’s be frank. It is still the very early days in this new Internet of Agents.

Best described as the “sex, drugs, & gambling” stage with Agents.

If you survey the field most Agents today are geared toward triggering human lust, dopamine and greed responses. AI girlfriends, speculating on funny memes, everything from the silly to the absurd is spreading at record speed.

This is to be expected and is always the case with every new technology revolution, from the first printed books (most of which were romance novels) to the early days of the Internet. The difference this time is sheer speed and scale. Projects can spread to both billions of dollars & soon billions of people in a matter of days or weeks, instead of months or years.

Although people are dismissive of these early carnal use cases, they often trail blaze new technologies and bring in more serious players. Ethereum had to have its ICO craze and Crypto Kitties phase long before DeFi, stable coin payments or institutional finance showed up to join in the fun.

The first value Morpheus can add here to Agents is the MOR20 mechanism which has been battle tested with over $1 Billion USD worth of stETH. Protecting the principle of those who want to contribute yield to an Agent.

Extending and simplifying the Fair Launch Smart Contracts to an Agent format is the logical next step. And beyond the initial launch, MOR20 drives Automated Recurring Revenue for Agents to earn rewards from their community of users.

Builders are already proposing a “Fair Agent Launchpad”, that will take the Morpheus Builder Smart Contracts and fine tune them for Initial Agent Offering type use cases. Morpheus has the power to both accelerate this fun phase, while doing it in a way that protects users principle from the risky down sides of 2017 style ICOs and NFT booms and busts of the past.

Agents are the New Websites & Morpheus is the New Search Engine

The second important value Morpheus adds is the codebase that weaves together AI + Crypto. These are heavy lifts to create truly decentralized infrastructure. This helps every Agent Builder from Base to Solana.

Morpheus wants to see ALL these new Agent platforms become massively successful. Just as Netscape or Google wanted millions of websites to populate the Internet, Morpheus welcomes Agent proliferation and gives people more to see, do, and discover.

To continue this analogy, if Agents are the new websites for this new version of the Internet, then Morpheus has built the new Search Engine for these Agents.

As people become overwhelmed with first thousands and then millions of new agents, the challenge shifts from building and releasing v1 Agents, to releasing the most useful Agents within this vast new world. This is the familiar outcome when things scale globally. Instead of being able to know about every Agent as you could in 2022 / 2023, you end up needing your personal Smart Agent to search for the "best" Agents.
That’s where Morpheus comes in.

What Morpheus has created in the Decentralized Agent Registry & Agent Router is the Aggregation Layer required to operate in a world with millions of Agents.

By crawling all the Agents in existence, Morpheus maps Agent uses and value to anything a person wants to accomplish. In the process, Morpheus ties the person’s nuanced intent to value aligned and network verified Agents to get the person’s job done.

Morpheus Compute is “1inch” for Agents

The third value Morpheus brings to all these new Agents, is inference (AI Compute). This comes in the form of Large Language Models for text and Diffusion Models for images / videos, reaching across all the top platforms.

What Morpheus has created in the Decentralized Model Registry and Compute Router is the Aggregation Layer. A project like “1inch” routes trades across many Decentralized Exchanges to get the best price for a trader, in the same way Morpheus connects the Agent with the cheapest GPU with the smartest intelligence.

Agents using Morpheus can access Akash, Titan, Hyperbolic, CETI, Phala, GenAscend, Telnyx, and many other top Compute Providers all from a Single Node / API.

Using MOR for Compute, the fees that the Agents pay to route to the cheapest GPU with the best model all aggregate value to Morpheus.

So, as Agents continue to multiply, keep in mind every one of them needs Compute, which is why Morpheus is here to provide the infrastructure ALL Agents must access. Morpheus is cross chain, cross platform, and not beholden to any special interest.

Morpheus is for everyone. It exists for any Agent Builder to use as a credibly neutral platform.

Morpheus Builders Rewards Act As An Ongoing Emissions Mechanism Similar to Aerodrome

Morpheus Builders Rewards go online in January and will continue emitting MOR for at least the next 256 years.

This long term competition for Agent Builders to attract MOR Stakers is the most meritocratic way to reward Builders selected by the community.

A useful comparison here is the way Uniswap kicked off the DEX revolution with incentives for Liquidity Providers and now Aerodrome is providing 100% of the Rewards to their Token Holders and allowing them to Stake to the pools of their choice.

With DeAI there is a similar trilemma of how to align Token Holders, Agents, and Subnets. Many projects align only one of these Stake holders in the DeAI ecosystem.

Morpheus' unique tokenomics properly align the interests of MOR Token holders, Subnets, and Agent Builders across all DeAI protocols, so that each group benefits & strengthens the others.

Updated Road Map for Morpheus, Reaching the “Zion Era”

During 2024, Morpheus progressed through the Genesis, Frontier, Homestead Eras as the project moved from White paper, to Fair Launch, to Rewards for Capital, Code, & Compute all going live.

During 2025, Morpheus enters the “Metropolis” Era of rewarding Agent Builders. This will unleash the creative power of Builders and complete the Morpheus fly wheel & alignment of DeAI projects.

Then Morpheus will focus on expanding the frontends and interoperability in the "Serenity" Era leveraging Layer Zero, Wormhole & Wire Network to reach new chains and fulfill its chain agnostic vision.

After Serenity will come the "Zion" Era where all the parts of Morpheus will be leveraged to actively & automatically create value for users via their Smart Agents.

As Morpheus progresses through each of these Eras it becomes the connective tissue between agents and a way for the individual to navigate and interact with them. Much as the first browsers & search engines did for the early World Wide Web.

Toward Personal Infinite Intelligence For Humans & Agents

As we enter that long anticipated point in the technological singularity where progress begins to move so fast that without using AI + Crypto people simply won’t be able to keep up with the change happening all around them.

Capital Providers

The Referral Contract is now live on the Sepolia Testnet! This program encourages community involvement and rewards growth across the Morpheus ecosystem. Morpheus Proposals

Two important proposals were introduced in September, and one has already been implemented.

MRC 45: Referral Bonus for Capital Providers

This proposal introduces a referral system to reward both referrers and new capital providers.

• Create a referral address and share it.

• Earn a 1% bonus for anyone using your referral to deposit stETH.

• Referral rewards for referrers can be as high as 5%, depending on the tier.

Deployment is expected in October.

MRC 46: Lock MOR Claims for 90 Days

To address short-term farming, this proposal introduces a 90-day claim lock on MOR rewards for capital contributors.

Compute Update

Morpheus testnet iterations have been progressing well over the past 2.5 months. While delays were experienced due to the massive success of Venice.ai, the Lumerin team are now testing how the Morpheus Node infrastructure scales in terms of compute throughput and chat context storage.

The mainnet launch is expected in 6-8 weeks, focusing on decentralization and security. Additionally, a new payment system is in development, allowing users to spend MOR directly for compute resources.

Nounspace Fair Launch Token Claim

The liquidity bootstrapping phase for Nounspace, the first MOR20 fair launch project, has concluded. The $SPACE token is now available for claiming on the Base chain and can be traded on Aerodrome and Uniswap.

As a MOR20 project, a portion of the yield (35 basis points) that flows into Nounspace’s Protocol Owned Liquidity is redirected to Morpheus Protocol Owned Liquidity each time yield is claimed.

MOR Rewards Staking

Following the presentation of Capital Providers staking, Code contributors can now stake their weights and receive up to a 10.7x power factor multiplier through mor.software developers hub.

After two weeks of code rewards staking, an impressive 87.3% of Code Contributor weights have been staked, resulting in 424 MOR of daily claimable emissions out of 3,336 MOR. This is a testament to the developers' dedication to Morpheus.

In contrast, Capital Providers have taken a more conservative approach, with only 31% of capital rewards staked, reducing daily claimable emissions to 2,305 MOR. For a more detailed analysis across different time periods, check out the charts.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of July! Introduced as a community initiative to close the negative feedback loop for capital providers and distinguish genuine contributors from short-term opportunists, the MOR Rewards Staking has evolved into a full-scale ecosystem MRC (Morpheus Request for Comments) with the goal to incentivize long-term contributors and minimizes the impact of those who bring no real value.

Contributors can now stake their MOR reward claims for future periods. By staking MOR for a set duration, Contributors receive a "Power Factor multiplier" that boosts their MOR rewards. This factor reflects the dilution rate experienced through emissions while staking MOR. In simple terms, Contributors agree to claim their rewards later but get a larger share of the reward pool now.

The Power Factor multiplier ranges from 1 to 10.7x for MOR rewards staking from 6 months to 6 years. For full details, read MRC 42.

Huge credit to community members involved in testing before the contract update. The security audit without which any update is not possible is publicly available on GitHub.

Capital providers are the first to benefit from the Power Factor, potentially boosting their rewards up to 10.7x. All actions can be performed via the official Dashboard.

MOR Burn and Tail Emissions

Morpheus [Whitepaper](https://github.com/MorpheusAIs/Docs/blob/main/!KEYDOCS README FIRST!/WhitePaper.md) introduced a burning function to increase MOR scarcity. According to MRC 43, 50% of the MOR remaining after the Protocol Owned Liquidity generation event is locked for 16 years for Epoch 2 tail emission, and the other 50% is burned. In July, there were four PoL generation events that locked and burned an impressive 10,952 MOR, which is 1.4% of the circulating supply.

MOR 20: A Standard for Recurring Protocol Payments and Payouts in Web3

A fundamental MOR20 paper introduces a standard for automated recurring subscription payments in Web3 environments, spanning multiple blockchains and tokens. This enables projects to receive recurring revenue streams while clients only need to set up a one-time payment authorization. Must read! Morpheus Multisignature Account Enhancement

As part of the path toward ever greater decentralization the Multisig has been upgraded to 5 of 9 signatures with additional key holders and back ups. The same criteria apply as before: - Key holders are Anon. - None of the key holders are from the same company, project or foundation. - Key holders are spread geographically across continents. - Key holders act as neutral experts in a non-governance function.
