Recent launches

White Lotus

The White Lotus is a proof of concept designed to test the limits of a token generation event, where incentives are aligned and risks are transparent among all participants. Participants could buy the token and all Ethereum was directly used to back its floor in a Trader Joe Pool.

While the experiment had great success since its launch, inspiring users and builders in the crypto space. It is now recommended to sell your $LOTUS into the floor pool and get ready for a potential V2 by Adam.

ETHCMD tools

ETHCMD is a website empowering Ethereum users with magical tools. From reading and writing contracts, decoding raw Ethereum transactions, and copying existing transactions. ETHCMD aims to make the daily life of developers and users easier.

Gate Keeper bot on Telegram

The GateKeeper is a Telegram bot that lets you create gated chats for holders of an NFT on Arbitrum. The chat creator can mint any amount of NFT that he can distribute however they like to their community (airdrop, sale...).

Muse Launch

Muse launch is an Open, transparent, and liquid NFT minting built on top of Sudoswap. Project founders can launch new NFT collections in a few clicks providing founders and collectors with a new way to distribute their assets if a fair way. The sale can be done with ETH or any ERC20 token.

Open-sourcing the Pepesea indexer

In 2022 the DAO was aiming to launch a decentralized marketplace in order to offer an alternative to OpenSea. With the high competition in the field (including token farming competition) with launches from LooksRare, Blur: We decided to pause the project and open source our work to benefit the ecosystem.

NFT metadata backend is a toolbox for developers to ingest NFT data including token transfers, ownership, metadata, and trading history on popular marketplaces.

RolodETH: an open-source address labels

During this time we also developed and released RolodETH, an open-source and self-hostable address labels database for the Ethereum network. Developers can access tags and names of addresses, smart contracts, NFT collections, and tokens in an easy way. You can read more about it on our Github.

The DAO also worked on smaller projects like a Javascript ordinals transaction decoder, improving ETHCMD, and exploring ideas of games and protocols that didn’t make it yet as convincing products…

Muse reached its 1M max supply

Muse was distributed in several ways to the DAO members: the initial Very Nifty game, NFT20 liquidity farming, and ETH/MUSE LP providing. When creating the token back in 2020 we decided on a 1M total supply. After reaching this number, the community decided to burn the admin keys of the token to make sure this number will be the final maximum one.

Future DAO votes

In a quest for more decentralization, we are looking to remove one co-founder (Adam) of the multi-sig and replace him with TB that is member of the community since the beginning. You can see and discuss the current proposal here.

After the first year of being compensated by the DAO for his contribution, Jules proposed a vote for renewing the compensation for this coming year here. You can see and discuss the current proposal here.

What's next?

We believe the ecosystem is still scratching the surface of what's possible to achieve with NFTs, what they represent, and how they will transform and integrate into real products. The DAO is still committed to exploring new product ideas, developing tools that help and inspire other devs, and more importantly: continue having fun as a community.

It’s been 2 years since the launch of the Very Nifty game that lead to the creation of the Muse DAO: An NFT venture builder owned by the community. In this article, we’ll take the time to write about some of our past releases and see where we are going.

For the lookback, our past releases fit in the NFT universe and will be listed in several categories: Trading, Gaming, Tools, and experiments.

NFT Trading

NFT20 is our flagship product. The first NFT exchange that enabled trading tokenized floor NFT with liquidity. While the protocol design is not the most effective today and is not currently under further development, it still gets a small volume and has active users.

We are always following closely the development of the space and decided to support sudoswap with the release of a javascript library that helps developers build on top of the protocol: sudoswap.js — The library enables creation and trading in pools but also fetches trading history and more via a simple NPM package.

Following our excitement about new emerging liquidity solutions for NFT trading we also slightly experimented with fair launch/game mechanics using sudoswap pools with The Raffle.

We also worked on a community-owned marketplace and NFT indexer known as pepesea. Unfortunately, the timing of the release and state of the NFT market was not good but we learned a lot during the development of such a large platform made by only 2–4 people.

Gaming

The Muse token was initially distributed through our Very Nifty game. It was one of the major NFT games before the NFT bullrun with more than 60k Ethereum mainnet transactions in the form of a Tamagotchi/battle game. The game also included some really novel ideas for the time such as races and battles. This game created our initial community and inspired ideas for our next developments.

We then created the CUDL game that had similar mechanics but was released on the Arbitrum network. While fighting over time to keep tokenomics working we realized that the current model was not sustainable and stopped development until better ideas come out. The game is still fully playable and now open-sourced (here and there). Some members of the community started working on new mechanics that will be released as Cudl Wars: you can read about the current white paper here.

Tools and explorations

We recently released ETHCMD.com. It is an alternative to Etherscan for reading and writing Ethereum smart contracts. This tool is aimed for developers and advanced blockchain users. This tool is a long-term project with minimal maintenance required that could bring visibility and high traffic in a future bull market.

Over the past two years, we also experimented with NFT that lives completely on chain. CUDL game pets are fully rendered on chain and we also released Feather that enables hosting content and application on chain. Dreams of EVM — an art project with complex animation rendering. And lastly, Non Fungible Messages that are free NFT you can mint and send to anyone containing an on-chain message.

We’re probably forgetting some side projects but writing this list today feels like a whole 20 years elapsed while in reality, only 2 have passed. The life of the DAO is animated not only by the development but by the highs and lows the community lived together and the friendships that formed. We’re also proud to have inspired other builders to launch their own projects in a fair and lean way.

Blockchain activity is driven since its inception by bull/bear markets that are exaggerated on both sides. While it seems we are currently in a bear market with a limited amount of participants: the DAO is still committed to continuing to explore new technologies, protocols, and products in the NFT space.

While at this time, speculation is down and development continues in the space. The Muse DAO will continue building technologies and products with the goal to create more income opportunities while helping the NFT space going forward.

On an economic aspect: the DAO currently has 700K USD treasury in a 2/3 ratio of stablecoins and ETH (not counting the $MUSE it owns). The operational costs are pretty low and guarantee a 2+ year runaway as of now.

Hiring 2 full-time core team members

In the past few months, the DAO has officially hired Jules and Virus as full-time core developers. We are looking forward to adding a few more people to the communications and marketing side once we decide more about our long- term plan and vision.

NFT Indexer and backend

In the past ~4 months we invested most of our time developing the NFT indexer, you can use the API for free here https://niftyapi.xyz

The indexer has been a huge engineering learning curve for us, there are teams that have 10 engineers and raised millions of dollars to create similar tech but didn’t manage to figure it out yet. We learned and grew a lot while developing the indexer.

We still have some minor bugs to fix, but our current API features:

1. Indexes all Ethereum Mainnet and Arbitrum NFT transfers live

2. Indexes all NFTs metadata

3. Indexes all Opensea, Looksrare, Zora, and 0x protocol sales

4. Provides trading data and statistics from all marketplaces

With this powerful API developers can build any NFT application they wish. We have already been working on a price monitoring website using our API that will be released soon.

In the near future, we’ll clean the Github repository and open source the indexer code for others to be able to contribute openly and make it better

During Q2 we’ll work on the documentation and guides to start reaching out to other projects and developers.

Pepesea.io — NFT Marketplace

Our goal with Pepesea was to open source an NFT Marketplace frontend powered by our indexer, so anybody can use and fork and thus democratize NFT trading.

With the help of Virus we developed https://pepesea.io (currently in alpha) — it is a full featured NFT marketplace built on top of the Zora protocol smart contracts, it will start with 0 fees and all order books are on chain.

In the coming months we will clean and document the Github repository and open source the marketplace for anyone to be able to create their own marketplace or improve it.

The Cudl Game

New cudl game features were put on hold while we developed the indexer but we expect this to change during Q2.

We’ve been thinking a lot about the game we want to create and its meaning. We are not so excited about “farming/ponzis” style games but we are looking forward to turn cudl into a more fun calm game to play. We don’t want to share too much as then we get bombarded with “wen” but expect exciting updates during this Q2.

NFT20

NFT20 was the first ever NFT AMM and liquidity protocol, we learned a lot from it but ultimately the protocol which was developed originally in 2020 is very inefficient for current NFT trading and we feel there are better NFT AMMs solutions to be created, we will keep maintaining NFT20 while we think how we can tackle the NFT liquidity problem better.

The MUSE Token

A few community members seem to be unhappy about “token marketing” or “when can you pamp my bags so I exit”.

We feel the need to reiterate what we’ve been saying since the beginning (for 20 months now )— MUSE is a coordination mechanism to manage the DAO and all of MUSE’s supply was airdropped via a game.

Without any substantial value being created first, we don’t feel it’s our place to try to “market” a token to pamp its price artificially or to include it in products unless it’s necessary.

We swim through this tough industry to try and develop products that will help it, once we find product market fit with one of the products we explore. Earnings and monetary value appreciation will happen.

Same team, new name, why?

Over the last 15 months the now MUSE DAO has built different projects ranging from NFT games, the first working NFT AMM to an NFT indexer (see below).

Finding and connecting these projects with $MUSE has been difficult, after an on-chain vote by $MUSE holders we have officially rebranded as Muse DAO and excited to launch the MUSE DAO website as the entry point to all our current and future projects and showcase what MUSE can govern.

The plan since the start has been to be a multi product DAO, this move will enable us to grow as one unit focusing on long term solutions for the NFT market.

What the rebrand looks like

We have made a landing page for the DAO where all our projects can be seen in one location with links to them.

The new page will also be where $MUSE holders can stake $MUSE to earn fees generated by NFT20.io and any future projects that are revenue generating.

Distribution of fees from NFT20 started on July 6th 2021 and to date we have sent around 12,000 $MUSE to stakers. This will also be where users can stake their MUSE/ETH LPs to earn $MUSE rewards (coming soon).

With the rebrand we will also be renaming our Snapshot (pending), Discord, Twitter and the Forum to reflect the new name Muse DAO. Links to all these pages are provided at the bottom of this article.

Q1 2022 Product Roadmap

NFT Indexer

Most of our recent focus has been invested on creating an NFT Indexer for mainnet and L2s — an NFT indexer is required to create applications around NFTs, allows developers to get the data they need, such as:

• Query NFTs an address owns

• Check the transfer history of an NFT

• Get the image and metadata of NFTs/collections

• Sort through all the collections ever created

As you can imagine, this information is required to create marketplaces and any other kind of application/protocol you might think of when it relates to NFTs.

Up until now everyone in the industry (including NFT20) has been relying on the amazing work by Opensea’s indexer/api. However Opensea took the web2 route and started to close the API, we expect them to shut it down completely to avoid competition.

The indexer is very close to being launched, we will open source the indexer and offer a hosted version with $MUSE, the details are yet to be decided as we are mainly focused on coding rn.

We’ll also be our first users by integrating the indexer into NFT20 as well as launching a full blown Opensea competitor (still being discussed)

CUDL FINANCE

Work is still ongoing for CUDL, one of our games currently deployed on Arbitrum.

We plan to launch battles, breeding, and onboarding new NFTs into the game shortly after the indexer is live (see above).

Also pet adventures (paid with MILK) and a novel insurance mechanism for pets suggested by Offmylawn, olvido and Oskaridze.

NFT20

The indexer will solve a lot of the problems that we ran into with NFT20, and why the development slowed down.

Unfortunately most teams in a bull market are busy marketing and spending time on twitter rather than building, so little infrastructure is being built around NFTs, but we are happy to take one step backwards and develop a completely new and complex infrastructure (the indexer) to make 10 steps forward.

The indexer will allow us to create many apps and even compete head on with Opensea if we were to see it fit.

Today we bring 2 new awaited features to the game:

Bridging CUDL from Ethereum mainnet

From today you can bridge your previously mined CUDL to Arbitrum to use in the game, stake for milk or trade.

Connect your favorite wallet to the Ethereum mainnet and select the amount of CUDL you want to send to Arbitrum. Approve the two transactions.

Your CUDL will appear on your Arbitrum wallet after around 10 minutes!

Staking CUDL to earn Milk

It is now possible to stake only CUDL in order to earn Milk that can be spent in the Bazaar to unlock new features and breeding in the near future.

A total of 10 Milk per day is distributed to stakers depending on their allocation size in the pool.

If you’re hungry for more milk, you can stake CUDL and ETH on Sushiswap to receive a part of the daily 90 Milk reward.

If you don’t know how to set up Arbitrum with metamask, please read this guide, takes less than a minute, and you can use this bridge to send some Ether to cover your gas expenses.

With Arbitrum L2 we can take CUDL to new heights never imagined thanks to lower gas costs and faster TXs. We can now go bigger, crazier, and even experiment faster.

*CUDL is an experimental game created by the **VeryNifty *team for the $MUSE DAO. In the game, you are able to pet an NFT. You can mine $CUDL once a day and use the $CUDL to feed the pet keeping it alive. If you do not feed your pet it can be burned by other players for rewards.

Meet the new CUDL Pets!

The CUDL Pets are NFTs (ERC721) tokens that have different characteristics, colors, and rarities, they are all stored fully on-chain, their state (happy, hungry, dead, etc) updates on-chain based on the game state and will reflect on the pet appearance.

The design of the CUDL pets can be upgraded over time as we improve our on chain design techniques.

Every Mooncat owner that owned a pet alive in the previous game can go here https://cudl.finance/transfer and claim a free pet with his previous score and level, just costs $2 of gas in the Arbitrum Network to claim (Read how to send some ETH to the Arbitrum chain here).

You will own a randomly generated and on-chain stored CUDL Pet with your previous pet score, level, and mining capabilities — adjusted to the new algorithm.

The $CUDL Token Bridge

The token address for the original CUDL will stay the same, the $CUDL l2 token is 0x0f4676178b5c53ae0a655f1b19a96387e4b8b5f2.

You’ll be able to bridge back and forth starting in the coming days, we had to create a custom bridge that we are still testing.

The Game

The core of the game stays the same as the previous version of CUDL — mine once every 24 hours and feed your Pet to keep it alive. This time with way cheaper gas! About $1–3 per tx!

Deflationary Pets?

In this version of CUDL, when a pet is starved and gets fatalized. The CUDL Pet NFT gets burned forever and can’t be recovered, no 9 lives 😿.

This makes the game more fun and with higher consequences for your pet! just like with a real tamgotchi.

MILK

For the benefit of the game, the previously earned milk won’t be moved to the Arbitrum network, however, you can add LP on CUDL-ETH on Sushiswap Arbitrum and start earning MILK from today.

There is a total of 100 $MILK produced per day, the milk is shared between all players in the contract based on your staked LP amount.

Note that while MILK is not an ERC20 token compaitble meaning it can’t be transfered, in the future you might be able to sell milk in the bazaar and get paid in CUDL.

Milk will become more and more important as time passes and will become the pillar of the CUDLverse.

The bazaar!

The Bazaar V0.01 is up and running, name your pet, send to hibernation or get a Milker Badge!

More features like sending your pets through scary adventures, or to school to earn more score or $CUDL will start to be rolled out slowly after this launch.

Everything will require Milk, some will require MILK and $CUDL.

P2P Pets Marketplace

We now have an official marketplace where you can buy and sell CUDL Pets.

For new players to join CUDL we have a marketplace up and running where 2000 pets will be sold for 0.1 eth each, the funds will go to the MUSE DAO and to the creators of the game.

The only way to generate new pets after the 2000 pets are sold, will be by players breeding and hatching with Milk.

After the initial 200 pets sell out, breeding and the p2p market will be fully rolled out and users will be able to buy or sell their pets on this marketplace, this will be the only way of new pet creation.

Battles and Weapons ⚔️

In the coming weeks, we’ll release a new battling system using the CUDL Weapons we released a few weeks ago, stay tuned.

This will also serve as the first test to bridge NFTs from mainnet to arbitrum.

Mooncats

We would love to keep supporting Mooncats on l2, due to the high value of mooncats we want to be more cautious and test the bridge we are working on more thoroughly (see above for CUDL weapons)

additionally, if the Mooncat community creates an l2 bridge we can add Mooncats in no time, our game will support it from day 1.

Caution and still on BETA

This is a game and shouldn’t be used as a financial instrument, we are the first real NFT project on Arbitrum, creating new bridges, storing NFTs on chain that change state, our own marketplace as no OpenSea on Arbitrum, etc.

We are pushing the boundaries with 2 people working on it and no audits. We are still in BETA and a lot of bugs may still occur, play with caution.

!moon missions are harder and more dangerous then !floor missions.

The honey doesn’t taste so good once it is being eaten; the goal doesn’t mean so much once it is reached; the reward is no so rewarding once it has been given. If we add up all the rewards in our lives, we won’t have very much. But if we add up the spaces *between* the rewards, we’ll come up with quite a bit. And if we add up the rewards *and* the spaces, then we’ll have everything — every minute of the time that we spent. — the TAO OF CUDL

The bug was very unfortunate but the future is looking bright for NFT Games in general and CUDL in particular.

Plan moving forward

The CUDL Token

Due to the bug, the CUDL token had to be paused for the benefit of all our users. For those who paid attention to the turn of events, the bug was exploited and we could have paused the token right away but we didn't, we tried to take every measure possible before arriving at this decision.

This was a huge personal failure for us that led us to a mini burnout and to take a vacation and rethink things, pausing the token and being in the situation we are now is something we don’t believe in.

We use OpenZeppelin contract templates for ERC20 tokens and it has a pause function in it, we never gave it enough thought as it never crossed our reality to think about pausing a token. Don’t trust, verify and code should be law.

We are relaunching a new CUDL token, this time it won’t have any pausing feature. The keys for minting (this is needed to give for example the game contract the power to mine CUDL) will be transferred to the MUSE Multi-Sig upon deployment. No single individual will have access to it.

CUDL Token Snapshot

We took a snapshot of all CUDL holders, all holders of CUDL besides the users that exploited the bug will get to claim the same amount they had.

ETH back To Liquidity Providers

We are going to create a proposal for MUSE holders to approve 10 ETH out of the treasury to pay back liquidity providers. This is pending their approval but if they agree to it, you’ll have to send the LP token to a contract and it will give you ETH and CUDL in return.

If they don’t approve the proposal, you’ll get CUDL instead of ETH.

Milk

The milk contract will reset and all milk will be lost, see below the plan for the game relaunch.

Game Relaunch

The game will be relaunched Sunday of next week (9 days). The code is ready but we just want to perform additional tests.

The game will relaunch with the updated mining algorithm which will let you mine 90% less CUDL. Unfortunately, it will complicate a lot of things if we wanted to regenerate the state of the pets before the bug, it will require more weeks of development, testing and a lot of money.

Due to food costing 90% less, previous players will be somewhat “rewarded” by being able to feed with the cudl they accumulated and reach their previous level at a much faster pace than new players.

Previous Mooncat id’s that were alive the game will be able to rejoin for free (costs a bit of gas).

Bazaar — The bazaar will relaunch on the same day.

New Users — We’ll allow new users to join the game but it will cost a significant amount of CUDL to do so.

Breeding — We are working on designs of new Pets that will be obtained via breeding, those pets will be native to the game and the designs will be stored on chain.

Native pets won’t need to pay the join fee and will create a new economy of “breedeers” for players in the game.

You’ll need milk + some CUDL to breed, or you can buy them on the open market from breeders (NFT20/OpenSEa).

Airdrop to CUDLers

Jules and Adam are working on an art project involving NFTs. We already took a snapshot and all CUDLers that had 6 pets or less will get a free NFT when the project launches in the coming weeks.

CUDL is a Tamagotchi-like game on the Ethereum blockchain where cats are able to mint some CUDL depending on their level. The in-game token is then used to buy food in order to keep the cat healthy and increase his daily rewards based on a level system.

The game started its beta just 31 days ago managing to gather 4010 Acclimated Mooncats in an awesome adventure played by 744 cuddlers.

While we were upgrading the game in the past 2 days to a new version in order to lower gas costs of playing and balance the economy we introduced a bug that enabled a lucky player to mine too much CUDL. This bug affected people registering new cats and mining for the first time. Following the discovery of unusual activity on the game we decided to pause the game and transfer of CUDL to limit the damage to liquidity providers and players.

Here is the full timeline of events:

• Aug-16–2021 10:29:02 PM: The game logic was updated introducing the new features and the bug.

• Aug-17–2021 07:05:03 PM: An existing player gave life to two new cats (4004 / 4005).

• Aug-18–2021 02:39:25 AM: The player mined all his 5 cats (including his 2 new cats that never mined before) triggering the bug that mined 226285 CUDL (doubling the total supply).

• Aug-18–2021 02:46:53 AM: The player started selling tokens on Uniswap in a few transactions for a gain of 5 ETH.

• Aug-18–2021 04:06:34 AM: After detecting and analyzing the unusual activity we decided to pause the game and all token transfers.

The bug explained

In order to save gas, we introduced a feature that enables a player to claim the reward of his pet every few days. For this we calculate the number of days that elapsed between the last time he claimed token and now as follow:

The problem with this code comes when you register a new pet, as we don’t set the lastTimeMined time in order to enable fresh players to mine one time. This worked well while we didn’t take into account the number of days elapsed between the two claims. Unfortunately in our case, the lastTimeMined sitting at 0 will result in a huge amount of day elapsed between the current timestamp and 0.

Note: In computer programming, the timestamp is based on seconds since the epoch: JAN 01 1970. Which makes at the time of the bug: 18857 days. As the basic reward for level 0 pets is 6 CUDL you get 18857 * 6 = 113142. As the person had 2 fresh cats in his collection he mined 226284 CUDL.

Considering the history of the wallet and the on-chain activity of the person following the unusual reward there is reason to believe that he was just lucky and didn’t exploit on purpose.

Will Your Pets Die? Do i need to feed?

You don’t have to feed or mine any pets for the time being, when the new version of the game is properly tested we will announce a way to resume.

The road moving forward

This is not the first time we go through adversity. As a community, we love the energy and attention the game managed to gain in just a month. We’ll take some time to learn from the bad and the good.

We won’t rush resuming the game, this bug was the result of humans running around the clock due to pressure we put on ourselves, and it could have been avoided.

70% Less Gas Costs

We managed to achieve a ~70% gas reduction to play CUDL. From now on your rewards will be compounded and you’ll be able to feed while you have pending rewards (balance in the app), meaning that unless you want to withdraw your CUDL you can just send feed txs only — for the feed tx the gas was also reduced drastically .

You can deposit CUDL into the app at any time if you need to top up your account.

90% less CUDL emission and food costs

We are very happy with how the open beta is going, we managed to test different assumptions while giving everyone an equal chance.

The mining algorithm will be reduced about ~90%, meaning 90% less cudl will be emitted via pets mining. The food costs will also go down accordingly.

With less CUDL emission + the 70% gas reduction, it should be very achievable for calm long term players to stay in the game at very affordable costs.

For users that want to earn more CUDL they will have to use advanced features that will require MILK + additional gas costs (more below).

Battles

As advised by the community we removed the bonking feature (being reworked).

We added a new Battle feature, with battles you’ll be able to lower your opponent’s score and earn CUDL on the way. To get access to Battle opportunities you’ll need milk.

Bazaar

The bazaar is also coming!, the bazaar is an ever growing thing and the things you’ll be able to buy/do with it will evolve, however at the beginning you should expect the 0.1v:

• Name change — to showcase your pet on the leaderboard.

• Hibernation — to take some time off.

When will the changes take effect?

All the features are ready but we are still testing, final release is when we are comfortable with the smart contracts code.

A note to the community

CUDL is a community run game meaning the future success of it is up to you (yes you!), you can market it, play it, grow it, meme it.

Users that discuss the game inside our discord as financial advise will be sent to exile, don’t praise us when you make money but also don’t disturb us when you don’t.

Exile is the best mechanism we found to not mute and ban users, but give them a chance to become contributors. If you can’t become a contributor it’s fine but at least respect our only rule.

We are only 2 developers working on CUDL and NFT20 and calling us scammers and creating negativity is the surest way to make us question why are we even here.

What is Milk?

Milk is a point system (not ERC20) that will be used to get addons and special features in the CUDL game. Stake CUDL, CUDL-ETH, MUSE-ETH, or sMUSE to earn points that can be redeemed for special features in-game on the Bazaar!

How does it work?

Just visit the Milk shop and stake your favorite tokens to earn Milk! As a base reference, you’ll get 1 point per day for each 5 CUDL staked and other milky rates depending on the risk of the tokens you stake.

Watch out! Withdrawing all your stake will make you lose all your previously earned Milk.

When you’ll use a Milking feature, the points needed for the feature will disappear magically. Some features may need to burn additional CUDL too…

We launched Cudl.finance about 10 days ago, the goal of v0.1 was to test the state of the market, find as many bugs as possible, fine tune mechanics, and start developing an early community. We are very excited of how things are going!

Achievements so far

• Fully functioning game with different strategies and features: bonk, fatalities, races, leaderboard, etc

• Over 2100 Mooncats joined the game and 1830 are alive right now in the leaderboard and actively playing.

• Early signs of organic growth

• Bootstrapping initial community (more below)

We are excited seeing new members join the NFT20/MUSE ecosystem that are proactive, help new users, ship stuff (tweets, articles, help, code) and are overall positive about where the game is going.

We are only a few days in but most of the active community members we are attracting are helpful and nice, this could lead to big things in the future if we all help each other grow.

🥛Milk Points and Bazaar

A new staking contract to stake CUDL, sMUSE, ETH-CUDL LP or MUSE-CUDL LP to get MILK🥛 points (not an ERC20).

You’ll be able to burn MILK to get things from the Bazaar, some of those things are:

• Hibernation — Take a rest for 30 days from the game

• Show Achievements — Show in the leaderboard the achievements your Mooncat makes. Achievements could be as NFTs, stay tuned.

• Litter Box — If your Cat gets dirty and starts losing score, you’ll have to clean it to stop losing score.

• Change name

• Change description

Some of the more advanced features that will come after the first release of the bazaar might require burning cudl + burning milk.

Rethink the Game’s Mining algorithm

Many users expressed they want a “burning” mechanism, we are still discussing but this could come in different ways, either change the price of the food, adjust the leveling up algorithm or introduce a whole new aspect. Still to be defined and feel free to share ideas.

Shared games

The lottery and races turned to be super fun so we hope to continue this weekly games that involve several users in the community.

Multiplayer

We are thinking of mechanisms that will require to join forces with other players to achieve a common goal, this could be to attack others and lower their score (never their TOD) or to revive dead pets.

It’s been a week since the launch of Cudl.finance and we couldn’t be happier with how things are evolving. We are very thankful for the over 300 mooncats that are helping us testing it to get things ready before the official launch.

Today we are happy to introduce the Mooncat Lottery Pet!

The lottery pet can be played over at cudl.finance/lottery. the community will grow together one Mooncat during the course of a week, every time you help feed the community mooncat you’ll get 1 raffle ticket, when the lottery ends a winner will be decided and will get to own the community’s pet.

Here are the rules

1. Anyone in the community can feed the new pet, each time you feed it you gain 1 ticket.

2. The more tickets you have the higher your chances to win.

3. When the lottery ends in 7 days, the smart contract will randomly select 4 winners.

Prizes

1st place will get the new Pet at a very advanced level based on how much the community fed it.

2nd place will get 38% of the pet mined cudl during that week.

3rd and 4th place will 19% each of the mined cudl during the lottery week.

25% of the cudl mined by the new pet will be burned

It’s been a while since the last community update, in part because we’ve been growing and working on so many things that we didn’t have time to write one, but time is due.

Community

After 9 months of daily product iteration and investing time in the community, we are really happy with the state of things and enjoy more than ever the every day of coming to discord and discussing ideas, laughing with, and getting mad at anon pepes, a dream come true.

We also see a consistent uptick in contributors, here are a few mentions of latest contributors:

Danner.eth — created really good video tutorials and dune dashboards for nft usage.

Tldbreakfast — continues to share from his different POVs and Bootstrap pools from time to time (this only when he doesn't sleep for 28 hours)

Enea — Is becoming more and more indispensable and growing into what we envisioned when we first met him.

Bnse — Is the biggest piece of our growth, had the most impact as he is the biggest NFT20 ambassador and his work in the front lines of projects and educating can’t be overstated.

Bailey/defiance capital — there is s lot of shit talking about vcs (from us too lol) as like in any industry there are many scammers, but so far having Bailey in our corner understanding we are noobs and being patient in helping us and introducing us to industry leaders, is becoming a key experience for the core devs that will make us grow as entrepreneurs further than if NFT20/MUSE fails or succeeds.

Altjumpan — Helps with pool creations, sharing the word to communities and starts to be more active in DAO discussions.

Lam and Cadu — They help with design behind the scenes.

DarkForestCap and AG — with their contributors framework help.

There are more contributors that weren’t mentioned for the brevity of this post, but we created nft20.io/contributors and we’ll add everyone there over the coming days.

We hope with the new contributor frameworks, communuty members will start getting paid for some of the help while others will follow their lead

Voters

We are very happy that all our snapshot proposals still get a lot of engagement, in the past proposal we had almost 90 voters and in the one prior over 65 voters.

One of our key goals as an open community is to have high engagement for DAO decisions, otherwise we would be fooling ourselves by using ineffective tools (why have a DAO with 1 voter?).

Our core developers which hold together about 8% of the supply, still abstain from voting to let the community decide on all that maters when it comes to official proposal voting.

NFT20 Growth

NFT20 is now top 4 most used NFT marketplace, usage has been growing consistently and you can track our live stats here in Dune Analytics.

We now have 100+ single wallets doing on chain txs with our contracts every day, 1000s of visitors to our protocol website and ~$1 million in trading volume a week, while earning ~$2000 a day in fees.

We start to notice many NFT projects go to market strategy/roadmap including NFT20 pools, this is a huge milestone as when we started many in the industry didn’t understand why we created our product (and we suck at communication).

We are also being loved by users and get a lot of positive feedback and constructive criticism every day to keep growing.

However, we understand NFTs will grow and change so we are ready to improve and pivot expand our offering as we are learning more about the market.

Product update

The most memorable features since the last update were:

1. The cart and checkout page with one click from within each pool page.

2. NFT20.js developed by Jules (waiting on docs creation), anyone can create an NFT exchange and access our data with 20 lines of code.

3. Overall UX improvements, the app is way easier to use now.

4. Wallet — any NFT user can go to nft20.io/wallet and check their NFTs to sell them in one click, this is an MVP and will get improved over time.

5. PEPESCORE™— we have a few features lined up to incentivize communities to interact more with our pools, this is the first step to get data on usage and market/NFT community sentiment.

6)The single muse staking farm is out! — as promised in our lite paper we finally started distributing the protocol fees to MUSE holders, so far we sent out 420.69 $MUSE and we have about 6300 more MUSE to distribute + we are adding about $2000 a day.

7. Contributor Framework — AG and DFC came to help us with DAO management and setup the contributors framework, we just started this but we are extremely excited to develop an area where we had 0 focus up until now.

The less good

Official Communication

We are known to be all day on discord talking to users but when it comes to official communication we lack attention to details, a lot of frustration came from the community when we mentioned the second fee distribution will be in 2 days but 6 days have passed and we still didn’t distribute the fees, we are going to distribute them tomorrow after this article is live.

With the contributor framework in place we will get someone more detail oriented to run our communication around DAO management and fee distribution.

Not very decentralized at the DAO level

We are still not decentralized as we could at the DAO level, the multi sig signers are still the core developers and in theory they could steal treasury funds or implement protocol upgrades at any moment (like in most projects tbh).

This will change long term, but short term it has been working good enough as we are known for moving fast and the community is trusting enough.

If a change were to happen where the community disagrees with an action, it would expedite the process to make it less trust oriented but the downside is it would make us ship slower.

There is a balance somewhere that we are learning about.

NFT20 is a permissionless p2p protocol to tokenize NFTs and make them tradable on decentralized exchanges such as UniSwap or Sushiswap.

Anyone with an NFT can create a new pool or add his NFT to an existing pool and get ERC20 Token derivatives of their NFTs in a permission-less way, those tokens can be transferred and traded on DEXes right away. You can also swap your NFT for any other NFT of the same pool, no need to tokenize.

NFT20 also allows you to own a fractional share of an NFT in the collection. For example, if you own 50 DEGENZ20 then it means that you own 50% of a Floor DEGENZ ( cheapest DEGENZ).

What is an NFT20 Pool and what can you do with them?

The NFT20 Pool contains DEGENZ that other users have deposited and you can perform different actions on it using DEGENZ20 . DEGENZ20 is an ERC20 token created specifically for the DEGENZ NFT20 Pool and it can be traded on Uniswap.

Use cases for the NFT20 pool and DEGENZ20:

1. You can deposit a DEGENZ into the pool for 95 DEGENZ20 tokens.

2. You can use 100 DEGENZ20 tokens to swap out any DEGENZ in the pool.

3. You can swap a DEGENZ with any other DEGENZ in the pool.

4. You can buy directly using ETH from the pool.

5. You can exchange your ETH for DEGENZ20 on Uniswap.

6. You can exchange your DEGENZ20 tokens for ETH on Uniswap when there is enough liquidity.

7. You can provide Liquidity for DEGENZ20-ETH Pair and earn rewards in $MUSE.

Note: All DEGENZ are treated equally in the pool so you should only deposit DEGENZ that you think are common (i.e Floor DEGENZ)

4. Buying a DEGENZ directly from the pool

There’s also a new feature where you can also directly buy a DEGENZ from the pool using ETH without dealing with DEGENZ20. The NFT20 platform will do all the Uniswap operations for you in 1 transaction. According to the NFT20 Team, there’s a 5% fee to it but it might be more cost-efficient since you can save on gas fees.

5. Exchanging ETH for DEGENZ20 on Uniswap

NOTE: This feature is available after the uniswap pool creation by the community.

Since DEGENZ20 is an ERC20 token, you can directly get it from Uniswap. You can also directly click on this link to access the DEGENZ20 Uniswap exchange page.

How does the Floor Price and the token price of DEGENZ20 change?

The Floor Price of DEGENZ on NFT20 and the token price of DEGENZ20 fluctuates with the buy and sell transactions.

If more people buy DEGENZ20 tokens, then the DEGENZ20 token price and the Floor Price (100 DEGENZ20) of a DEGENZ on the NFT20 pool go up. If more people liquidate their DEGENZ20 tokens for ETH, the price goes down.

• The new contract issues Staked Muse (sMUSE), an ERC20 that offers a new range of use cases for the $Muse ecosystem.

• The first contract had an arithmetic error spotted by Bailey T that could have locked forever some $Muse on the contract in the long term after distribution started.

Steps:

If you didn’t stake yet your $Muse:

• Visit the NFT20 farm page and connect your wallet.

• Click on the second farm and click “approve and stake” and make the transactions

If you already staked your $Muse:

• Visit the NFT20 farm page and connect your wallet.

• Click on the second farm and click on “start earning fees”

• You’ll have to go through 4 transactions. It’s important to follow all steps.

• Once the 4 transactions are done, refresh the page and enjoy earning!

Today we are excited to announce that all MUSE holders can start earning protocol fees by staking their MUSE on NFT20.

You can stake your MUSE at any time over at nft20.io/farm to start getting a share of the fees earned by the protocol, the fees will be deposited periodically, so far ~$120,000 fees earned that will be start being deposited over the coming months.

The Muse distributed to the stakers are a result of our Muse buyback program from the protocol fees. If you want to track the fees the protocol is earning, you can checkout the “history” of our multi sig wallet at any time.

Your share of the fees will be equal to your % share of the total muse staked, for example if 1000 total MUSE is staked and your stake is 100, you’ll get 10% of the fees.

When you want to withdraw your staked MUSE there is a 10 day cooldown period that you activate by clicking on “Start Unstake Period”, after the 10 days waiting period is over, you can withdraw all your staked amount.

You can however claim your current earnings at anytime without withdrawing your stake.

What is NFT20?

NFT20 is a permissionless NFT DEX with the mission of bringing liquidity to NFT projects and finding the right price for users, collectors and funds for investing into NFTs.

Once liquidity is added to Uniswap it allows collectors to buy and sell those NFTs with Eth in once click thanks to our novel protocol!

How does the $GCG pool work?

Advanced users can deposit any Gutter Cat Gang NFTs into the pool and get 95 GCG back (an ERC20 token), you can use GCG to add liquidity on Uniswap and trade GCG-ETH.

You can deposit 100 GCG back into the pool at any time and choose which NFT to redeem from the pool. The 100 GCG you deposit gets burned. The GCG tokens can be used for LP farming as described later

Normal collectors can just use the easy UI to sell or buy NFTs with ETH in one click on the home page.

How to Sell a rare Gutter Cat Gang?

It is advised to lock common NFTs into the general pool as you’ll get the same 95 GCG tokens for all NFTs, no distinction.

If you have a rare NFT, you can create a dutch auction within the asset page and set your own price in GCG.

How to Get Back an NFT from the Pool

To get back an NFT from the pool you can deposit 100 GCG at any time and get any of the Gutter Cat Gang available in the NFT20 pool.

Arbitrage with Uniswap and Opensea

Based on our past pools, there is a lot of arbitrage that can be done. The goal of the NFT20 pools is to create a price floor for common NFTs and make them liquid on Uniswap.

Think creatively and you might find some nice arbitrage opportunities.

Are there any fees involved?

When you tokenize an NFT the pool contract mints 100 tokens, 95 go to you and 5 go to our factory to be distributed to $MUSE holders.

There are no fees for swapping, or getting back a Gutter Cat Gang NFT from the pool.

Terms of the deal
