For instance:

What is the utility? Is it a meaningful utility?

Is the initial distribution fair?

Is it highly inflationary?

What is the circulating supply?

And each one gets a score based on its weight.

Demand matters more than supply.

In the end, you should be able to come up with an overall score of tokenomics and a repeatable process.

And to sum up, this list provides valuable sources to improve research quality.

Some of the concepts presented are new to me and I’m looking forward to implement them in my research process, as well as double down on the basics.

You can do everything I’ll show here without Arkham though, it’s definitely not a requirement. But I recommend you give it a try because it has charts(e.g. balance over time per chain, profit over time per chain) and features DeBank does not have.

What is the goal?

The goal is basically to find profitable wallets with a great track record and decent activity to model and learn from.

Specifically, I’m looking for wallets that invest/trade low-caps.

I rank utility projects higher than memes but there are some profits made with memes on this list too.

Investing in higher caps like Bitcoin and Ethereum is relatively safer, but they are unlikely to pull a 10x in months like microcaps do.

How to find those wallets?

Through 2 simple methods:

Check the top holders of a specific Token on the Block Explorer.

Backtrack transactions on Arbiscan to see who were the early buyers.

If a wallet is in the top holders list, it does **not **necessarily mean it’s successful.

If a wallet bought early, it does not necessarily mean it’s successful.

But this is where people lose a big opportunity.

They check a couple of wallets and maybe they find something useful here and there.

But they stop too early in the process.

I made this mistake too.

See, you could go for hours without finding a decent wallet, but believe me, it’s worth going the extra mile and keep looking further.

Superficial effort = superficial results.

All right, so with the intro out of the way, let’s take a look at the list of wallets.

Wallet #1

Address: 0x83179a13e3124ec4ab2d59c1d20c89172b85f104

Value: $486k

Description: Early $RAM buyer.

Results:

$SHARKY closed at a 60% loss.

Looking at his history on DeBank we can see every single interaction involving the token.

By clicking on the word Sharky, DeBank will automatically filter so only the Sharky related transactions will be shown.

It can also be done by typing the name of the token you want to filter on the white bar at the top of the page (it only works when you select a specific chain).

DeBank History

In this case, he bought $SHARKY on March 19th and sold it on the 27th.

Truth be told, keeping track of mnemonic phrases is not so trivial of an effort. In addition, DeFi is still quite complicated in general, especially for rookies.

For DeFi to truly evolve and expand we need better solutions to those hurdles. But knowing this is only the initial step. We need to implement.

So who is actually trying to come up with those meaningful solutions?

One product I know with a very interesting value proposition is Giddy.

With its practical, secure, and UX-focused product, Giddy attempts to be the stepping stone to onboard the next wave of newcomers to DeFi.

But is Giddy able to stand out among so many wallets? What makes it unique and valuable? What is my overall view and score? Is $GDDY token a good investment?

Read below for my in-depth, comprehensive research and reflections on Giddy.

What is Giddy?

Put simply, Giddy is a self-custodial, recoverable wallet with a focus on simplicity and accessibility. Like Metamask, but not really.

Let me explain:

Giddy puts a strong emphasis on User Experience, probably more than any other wallet out there. The main purpose is to democratize access to DeFi and lower the entry barrier.

Giddy already has a working product, the Mobile App is available for download on Apple Store and Google play. The Chrome version will be released in the future.

Interestingly the App it resembles more my TradFi banking app than a crypto wallet.

Giddy App

Some of Giddy’s main features are:

On-ramp available in the app

Recoverable Wallet (No need to write down 12–24 Seed Phrases and keep track of them)

Built-in Autogas feature, users can pay gas in any token they have

At this point you might be thinking: how is it possible to create a wallet without the seed phrase?

Well, it’s not that the seed phrase isn’t generated. It is. But everything happens under the hood.

Here is how it works:

The seed phrase is divided into fragments or shards.

Then it is stored across multiple different places and the user needs different authentication keys to access his private key.

At the moment there are 4 shards in total

Email

2FA(Authenticator app and/or SMS)

Fingerprint

Backup password

But the plan is to add more in the future to further increase security.

3 out of 4 keys are required for recovery.

You can access your private key at any moment by going to the “export your private key” option, but it is definitely not necessary to know it to log in or do anything in the app.

All right, now that we have a basic overview of how the App works, let’s try to rank Giddy from a Fundamental Analysis standpoint, based on the parameters below.

Use case

Tokenomics

Revenue

Team

Community/Socials

Marketing

Narrative

Roadmap & Catalysts

Use Case

What is the Use Case?

Democratize access to DeFi.

Is the Use Case Unique and actually offers Value or is the protocol just a Fork with minor changes or improvements?

Well, there are A LOT of wallets in the market.

I get that some could consider new wallets completely unnecessary, but in my view, Giddy distinguishes due to the ease of use and UX in general.

Does it solve a meaningful problem?

Yes. Through the elimination of excessive steps and integration of dApps within the app, Giddy makes the whole process of buying crypto to depositing into protocols more user-friendly.

Tokenomics

Launch

$GDDY launch was neither a Fair Launch nor a Private Sale. It was a Staked Streaming Launch.

How does a staked streaming launch work and why does it matter?

In order to make the initial distribution fairer, even to the person without advanced technical knowledge, 57% of the total supply of $GDDY is being distributed constantly through the period of 12 months. It ends in April 2023.

There wasn’t a private sale and the supply is fixed.

Here is the token distribution in a Nutshell:

Community(Staked Streaming): 57%

Liquidity(SushiSwap): 3%

Treasure/Operating Capital: 35%

Team(Future Airdrops to Team Members): 5%

You can check out the Token Litepaper and the staking pools here for more details.

Polygonscan

Adapted from Polygonscan

Supply

Total Supply: 1,000,000,000

Circulating Supply: 963,133,651

Who has the supply? Can they dump?

35% is in the hands of the team and this amount is destined to future expenses, growth, marketing, bug bounties and smart contract innovation.5% is allocated for future airdrops to employees. And the remaining was distributed to the community.

Since almost the entire supply is circulating anybody can sell whenever they want. There is no vesting. But it’s also good to consider that the selling pressure is significantly reduced because it is fixed supply and nearly 100% was already emitted.

On top of that, there is a decent degree of decentralization because of how the launch was architected.

There is a wallet with 3.6% of tokens. This could be a problem. But even if he sold all of his tokens he would ‘only’ cause a 7% movement in price.

Because 45%~ of the tokens are staked, I assume there is no way to know 100% for sure how much the top holders have(the ones with their crypto staked), so this is something to consider.

Also important to mention that the Token contract is a proxy, which means it calls another contract that could be changed by the team.

Demand

What is the use case for the Token?

First, it’s important to understand that $GDDY token is mostly used for infrastructure.

The user does not need to hold $GDDY in order to perform any task in the App.

Further, the token is not the main focus of the project, but the product itself.

“Giddy Token should be viewed solely as a utility for increasing security and ease of use on the blockchain” — Quote from the Litepaper

However, Giddy Tokenomics is very well-thought-out and fairly distributed and the token definitely has meaningful utilities.

The Giddy team took diverse factors into account before launch and planned the Launch that would benefit the community the most, without giving advantages to whales or more experienced investors.

So, back to the $GDDY utilities, they are:

1. Fix the infinite approval vulnerability

Put simply, when you approve the spending of a token you can give permission for the dApp to spend your funds of that specific token infinitely.

Giddy proposes a clever solution that automatically only allows the approval of the exact amount of tokens you are spending and the approval also expires at the end of the block. (It is possible to customize the spending limit, though it is not realistic to expect inexperienced users to have such knowledge)

2. Solve smart contract approval front-running vulnerability

According to the litepaper DeFi users are also exposed to a Front Running approval attack where the attacker pays higher gas fees to force double spending and steal funds.

3. The staked streaming distribution was a clever answer to make things it all more even so anyone in the community could benefit from it.

But it’s important to consider that the only reward that incentivizes HODLing(besides the temporary staking rewards) is number 4.

So my only concern is:

Is the discount on gas fees enough as an incentive to HODL the token?

Revenue

The revenue is generated mostly from fees in the App.

Team

The team is fully doxxed and has social media profiles available.

Here is a selection of a few of them:

Eric Parker — CEO

Previously Senior iOS developer Walmart Labs

Twitter: @SirEricParker

Ethan Parker — Co-Founder

Previously Head of Technology at Madico.
