One highlight was Ephraim's Skate boarding conquest to travel across different African countries skating with other members of KSI and Gnars Dao.

Hammer Rock'supdate on Nouniverse and plans to establish Nouns India, opening doors for exciting cross-community collaborations. Members also discussed how Nouns Africa and Nouniverse can support each other through shared resources, visibility, and developer communities.

Cohort Reflections & Challenges

Now in its fourth week, the current cohort has provided key insights into how future editions can be improved. A major talking point was the low student turnout in classes. While attendance has been encouraging for some sessions, the overall participation rate remains below expectations.

Community members discussed possible causes, including:

• The free nature of the program, which may affect commitment levels.

• Communication gaps, as many students are unaware of class times or platforms.

• Email deliverability issues, with messages possibly landing in spam folders.

To address this, the WhatsApp community chat has been a vital tool for sending reminders, sharing updates, and keeping engagement alive. The next steps will focus on personal follow-ups — educators, course reps, and community members will reach out individually to encourage better participation and feedback.

Platform & Technical Updates

Participants also raised concerns about usability issues on the Nouns.africa frontend. While the interface design is praised for its visual appeal, some users reported encountering errors while creating bids and difficulty posting proposals. In addition, some sections still display Gnars DAO features that need to be updated.

The call emphasized the need for developer support to improve the platform’s functionality and ensure a seamless experience for users.

Engagement & Next Steps

The community collectively agreed on the importance of boosting conversations and engagement across platforms — from Discord to WhatsApp. Ideas for interactive activities, shared learning, and collaboration channels are in the works to foster more connection and energy in the community spaces.

Welcoming New Members

We began with introductions, as several new members joined the DAO this week. It’s always inspiring to see new builders, artists, and learners join our movement. Each person brings something unique whether it’s creativity, curiosity, or technical skill to Nouns Africa’s shared mission: amplifying African voices and public goods through blockchain technology.

Project Updates: Multisig, Curriculum, and Live Streaming

The team gave key updates on several ongoing initiatives:

• Multisig Update: From 5/7 to 3/5, Signers are yet to sign the agreement and the second staking prop did not pass, work continues on the DAO’s multisig wallet to improve coordination, transparency, and security for treasury operations.

• Learning Block Curriculum: The education team shared that preparations are now complete for the first Learning Block cohort, which officially kicks off this Wednesday, October 15th. The cohort will onboard students into blockchain education through an 8-week interactive learning experience focused on creative empowerment, DAOs, NFTs, and onchain economies.

• Live Streaming: Sessions from the Learning Block will be streamed live so that both registered students and wider community members can follow along, learn, and engage in real time.

🛹 Skateboard Distribution Update

One of the most exciting announcements from the call was the Skateboard Distribution Initiative shared by Davin: A community-driven effort to share branded skateboards as part of Nouns Africa’s outreach and local engagement.

This initiative reflects our ethos of connecting culture, creativity, and community, spreading the Nouns spirit through real-world impact. The skateboards are not just gift, they’re symbols of motion, energy, and the collective movement Nouns Africa represents.

Distribution plans are now underway, with updates to follow on how members can participate and help coordinate local deliveries.

Keeping the DAO Safe: Security and Moderation

With the Discord community rapidly expanding, discussions on security and moderation took center stage.
Gnericvibes has been the active Admin sanitizing the Discord and now we’re currently seeking two additional moderators to join the current mod team and help maintain a safe, inclusive, and scam-free environment.

Jed shared immediate security measures we can implement, while emphasizing the importance of vigilance and community awareness as the DAO scales.

Volunteering: The Heartbeat of Nouns Africa

Every initiative from onboarding students to managing operations thrives because members take initiative.

The call included an open reminder: if you have skills in operations, coordination, design, media, development, or education, you can play a vital role in the DAO.
Just head to the “Join a Team” channel in Discord, fill out the form, and become part of the movement.

Developers Wanted

A quick technical update focused on the nouns.africa domain, which currently needs configuration updates to enable voting and bidding functionality.

Vlad, who helped set up the new front-end, is currently traveling for DevConnect Argentina, but the DAO is inviting developers within the community to assist with debugging and implementation.

The tech team also plans to audit all repositories on GitHub to ensure our systems are secure, optimized, and future-ready.

Working Hours Continue

A reminder that Working Hours take place every Thursday at 7 PM WAT.
These sessions are open to everyone contributors join in, review active tasks, pick new ones, and collaborate live.

It’s one of the DAO’s most hands-on and productive calls, emphasizing progress through teamwork and accountability.

Learning Block Starts This Week

With the countdown officially on, all eyes are on October 15th, when the first Learning Block Cohort begins.

Schedule: Every Wednesday and Friday 2pm GMT for 8 weeks in the NDA Discord Server Lecture Hall.

This marks a new chapter for Nouns Africa, not just building public goods, but also nurturing builders.

The orientation session will introduce students to their journey into Web3, from wallets and DAOs to NFTs and governance. It’s education, but onchain African, creative, and collaborative.

Progress Updates

The team has been on fire this past week, with several big wins and learnings:

• Curriculum Complete: The long-awaited educational curriculum is finally wrapped up, ready to onboard new learners into blockchain basics.

• Content Calendar Ready to Roll: Social posts for Nouns DAO Africa’s X account are scheduled and live, community members were urged to like, comment, and share to boost visibility.

• Student Quests: A fresh weekly claim design for students is done, thanks to collaborative brainstorming.

• Certificates & Badges: Designs are in! Members discussed whether to make badges on-chain as NFTs or POAPs.

• Zealy Integration: Zealy is now connected to Discord; tasks will follow soon.

• GitHub + Discord Automation: Discord forums with tags currently in use for coordination and searchability while a custom bot is being built to let members create and manage GitHub tasks directly from Discord, making contributions simpler and more accessible.

GitHub–Discord Bot Vision

The demo had everyone excited. The bot will:

• Let contributors create tasks, proposals, or reports using Discord commands.

• Sync everything with GitHub automatically.

• Simplify bounty submissions and tracking.

The goal is simple: make contribution in Nouns DAO Africa so intuitive that anyone can plug in and build.

Multi-Sig Wallet Woes and Wins

There’s been some lag in signing proposals, having seven signers proved too slow.
Consensus: Move from 7 signers to 5, requiring 3 of 5 signatures for faster action.
This will keep things decentralized but also practical for day-to-day decisions.

Education Cohort Updates

• 45+ students across Africa have already registered for the first Learning Block cohort, with Nigeria and Uganda taking the lead in registration.

• Each member was challenged to invite at least five new learners.

• Classes kick off on October 18, 2025, covering the fundamentals of blockchain in a fun, hands-on way.
  The goal? Make blockchain literacy accessible to every creative and curious mind in Africa.

Curriculum Collaboration Conversation

A highlight of the call was a thoughtful discussion between Nouns DAO Africa (NDA) and Build-A-DAO (BAD).
BAD proposed using NDA’s curriculum to teach junior students (ages 11–17). NDA members loved the idea but emphasized the importance of:

• Giving proper credit to NDA for the materials.

• Putting the idea to a community vote via a proposal.

BAD shared that they’ve been developing their own open-source curriculum including AI and cybersecurity topics which could integrate beautifully as advanced lessons in the future.
Everyone agreed: education isn’t a competition, it’s collaboration.

Certificates, Badges & On-Chain Rewards

Design feedback was thoughtful and creative here’s the roadmap:

• Add cohort identifiers (e.g., CH1-2025) to certificates and badges for provenance.

• Offer on-chain badge minting (POAP / NFT) as an option so learners can carry proof of learning in wallets.

• Use token-gated Discord roles for minted badge holders to reward engagement.

• Long-term: consider physical collectibles (commemorative coins) for milestone graduates.

Tech & Ops Notes

• AI meeting notes tool will be trialed to auto-generate recaps and lighten admin load as last weeks call Recap was missed.

Welcoming New Members

We kicked things off with introductions. A warm welcome to Abtheanimator and Tams, who joined the community and brought fresh energy to the call.

Task Updates & Props

We reviewed action items from the previous week, including the submission of Prop 12 and Prop 13. The Swap & Stake Treasury ETH Prop has been delayed because the DAO wallet cannot swap directly. To solve this, the community agreed to set up a multisig wallet, with a poll coming soon for NDA holders to indicate interest in becoming signers.

Working Groups: Building Our DAO Together

New working group channels were officially added to the server. Each working group now has a clear mission and expectations, and members are encouraged to step up as WG leads.

Jed suggested token-gating the groups to improve coordination, which received broad support.

Exciting ideas came up during the working group segment:

• Esimuda proposed launching a DAO Zine/Magazine as a revenue-generating initiative.

• Rissa suggested creative approaches to cover design.

• Yemi and Orion volunteered to support with design, marketing, and outreach.

• Clement proposed bringing back POAPs and offered to help onboard new members from Kenya.

Cohort & Learning Block Updates

The Learning Block initiative is moving forward! Educators for the upcoming cohort include Swarthy, Clement, Maceo, Jed, Davin, and Gneric, each taking on a specific topic from the curriculum.

Educators are expected to submit their teaching materials on/before September 25th.

In addition, marketing for the cohort was discussed:

• Jed suggested guerrilla-style marketing, encouraging each member to introduce at least 5 students to the program.

• Each referral will earn 20 points, with special rewards: Jed offered 2 NFTs per 10 invites.

Metamu generously gifted 4 NFTs during the call to welcome both new and existing members.

Swarthy gave an exciting update: he has been working on the Lils Africa snapshot, a tool that will allow Nouns DAO Africa to:

The collective takeaway: education is a critical public good the DAO can provide. Not only does it create value for communities, but it also has the potential to generate sustainable revenue. This revenue, in turn, could be reinvested into supporting projects, funding public goods, and incubating future initiatives.

The discussion ended with consensus: the DAO must position itself as an asset that creates value in order to receive value. A draft mission and vision statement will be developed and reviewed during Thursday working hours, with the intention of formalizing it Onchain through a proposal.

Motomoto also suggested that the community should create a template for event hosts to use, for members looking at hosting side events so that everything goes in accordance and proper onboarding is done.

Eth Enugu Event Recap

Gneric presented a detailed recap of the recent Nouns DAO Africa Hangout at ETH Enugu, sharing lessons, highlights, and media files Read all about it here available here.

Attendees like Dollars, Smith, Esimuda, and Super Bio reflected on the experience, describing it as both educative and entertaining, a strong validation of the DAO’s community-driven approach. Special thank to Daddy Muphasa for supporting and helping us organize the event.

Next Steps

The call concluded with clear and actionable next steps for the DAO:

• NFT Distribution – 8 NFTs to be sent to the Twitter winner, fundraising supporters, and contributors at the event (wallet collection underway).

• Refund to DAO – $23 remaining from the NDA event will be returned and used to purchase an NFT.

• Mission & Vision Draft – to be refined during Thursday working hours, then formalized as a proposal.

• Social Media Expansion – setup of Instagram, YouTube, and Zora, with delegation to willing community volunteers.

• Review of Props & Activities – all proposals and action items will be discussed during working hours before moving onchain.

ETH Enugu – Our First Sponsored Event

A major highlight of the call was celebrating the successful ETH Enugu proposal. Members traveled to Enugu, Nigeria are actively preparing for the event, which marks a milestone our first officially sponsored community event.

ETH Enugu represents more than just a meetup. It’s a chance to:

• Showcase Nounish creativity in Africa

• Expand our network within the broader Ethereum community

• Create a precedent for future event sponsorships by the DAO

We see this as the beginning of a tradition of hosting and supporting events that amplify Nounish builders across Africa.

Uganda Action Sports Intervention - The Skatepark Vision

The Kampala Skateboarding Initiative shared exciting progress on their Action Sports Intervention, an ambitious plan to build the largest skatepark in Africa.

The African skateboarders in gnars dao, a skateboarding Nounish Dao have been creating and participating, building on the continuous participation and growth. This project blends youth culture, sports, and creative community building in a way that embodies the spirit of Nouns. During the call, the Uganda team also shared early discussions on local manufacturing to support not just the skatepark, but future creative and economic initiatives in the region.

We kicked things off by reviewing tasks from our last working session:

Fundraising Update

The full budget is $600 and we’ve already raised $336 from early supporters. To avoid delays while waiting for remaining donations, we’re submitting a 0.08eth proposal to the NDA treasury to cover the gap.

Important: Crowdfund platform gives donors the option to either reclaim or donate their contributions after the event.

Working Hours Finalized

We kicked off by reviewing the agenda and previous task updates. Based on poll results, our weekly working hours will now take place every Thursday at 6PM GMT, winning with 44% of votes.

Social Media Strategy

Clement confirmed access to the NDA X (formerly Twitter) account. Jed and Esimuda volunteered as backup delegates for posting. Clement also highlighted past Twitter Spaces where NDA NFTs were distributed, suggesting we revive that initiative.

Key ideas shared:

• Post regularly about the Nouniverse, African builders, and public goods.

• Build a content calendar for consistency.

• Explore Zora to mint community content (suggested by Ohnaji).

• Launch an Instagram account to reach a broader audience (proposed by Jed).

Questionnaire + Onboarding

We shared responses from the onboarding questionnaire and GPT-generated compilation. Members (new and old) were encouraged to complete it to help shape better mission, vision, onboarding, contributions, and governance flows.

X (Twitter) Update;

Davin shared that he's working on reclaiming the DAO's Twitter account. The handle is currently in someone else’s custody and he's reaching out for access. Update expected next week.

DAO Enquiries & Google Form;

Members were encouraged to fill out the DAO’s community form, which helps gather perspectives around mission, vision, governance, and values. If you haven’t yet, fill it out here.

NFT Metadata;

Jed raised concerns about NFT metadata not rendering on Builder. Swarthy encouraged community members to join and voices challenges at the Nouns Builder product session scheduled for August 7, RSVP HERE;

Additionally, The discussion explored the inability of the DAO to add additional traits to NFTs on Builder and the desire to reflect more cultural diversity across Africa in the collection something Builder currently does not support but remains on the wishlist.

Office Hours Finalization;

After reviewing the previous poll results, the community decided to host weekly office hours on Thursdays after Nouncil governance calls. A follow-up poll is live to finalize the time. Vote here.

Treasury Votes & ETH Enugu Activation;

With Prop 7 executed and treasury now receiving 10% of NFTs, Swarthy initiated a conversation around creating clear reward metrics for DAO contributions especially with ETH conference happening in various areas around the corner.

• A side event was suggested to be hosted at ETH Enugu, Jed & Swarthy both pledged $100 each toward the DAO’s side event and calling on other community members to support the event, Jed mentioned that the treasury does not have enough funds yet to bear such responsibilities as the aim is to continue to grow the treasury.

• A full budget breakdown and proposed activities will be shared with the community by Wednesday.

• Thursday’s office hours will be used to draft the NFT distribution metrics and finalize side event activities.

The conversation about vote distribution led to Gneric suggesting that the dao implement the Fractal model

Fractal Tool Discussion;

Gneric introduced Fractals, and Zaal (from ZAO Fractals) expanded on how the tool helps track contributions and distribute non-transferable "respect tokens". These tokens are earned during weekly calls and can influence future governance rights. Read more Fractals here:

Zaal offered to set up the Fractal bot and organize an orientation call with Eden Fractals for onboarding if the community decides to implement this model.

Lil Nouns x NDA Interop;

Swarthy is actively working on interoperability tools that will allow NDA to:

• Vote on Lil Nouns proposals via off-chain consensus and snapshot,

• Delegate Lil Nouns to NDA, and

• Submit proposals to Lil Nouns from NDA.

He’s currently assessing decentralized signing structures (e.g., multisig vs wallet signers) and will reach out to builders like Mulf to ensure alignment. More updates will be shared with the community as this progresses.

The Nouns DAO Africa community held a vibrant call this week to align on recent proposals, technical updates, and foundational work around our mission, vision, and values. With growing energy and contributions from across the community, we’re laying the groundwork for what’s next together.

Proposal Updates: Props 6, 7, and 8 Passed!

We kicked off the call with a discussion of the recently passed proposals:

• ✅ Proposal 6 :

  This proposal seeks to reduce the current voting delay parameter on Nouns DAO Africa from 24 hours to 6 hours. The voting delay defines the time between when a proposal is created and when voting can begin.

• ✅ Proposal 7:

This Proposal seeks to-

• ✅ Not a founder allotment to any individual or team

• ✅ 10% of total supply allocated to the DAO treasury (not to founders)

• ✅ Strictly earmarked for contributor compensation

•  ✅ Funds spent only via transparent DAO proposals and votes

  This allocation would be used to pay for real work that grows Nouns DAO Africa—development, marketing, community building, partnerships, infrastructure, and more.

• ✅ Proposal 8:

  This proposal seeks to increase the current voting threshold in Nouns DAO Africa from 10% (currently 26 votes) to 20%, ensuring broader collective participation, reducing the influence of single-token whale voting, and strengthening the legitimacy and inclusivity of passed proposals.

Key insights from the discussion:

• The Founders’ multisig wallet nounsdaoafrica.eth currently holds 13 NFTs, which was allocated for only a year.

• Jedxo emphasized allocating NFTs to the DAO wallet to support contributor incentives in support of prop 7.

Discord Updates

Discord admin Jonah joined the call and granted Gnericvibes admin rights, moving beyond a mod role. The Co-founder Davin shared plans to finish setting up Collab.Land by Wednesday to enable wallet verification and role-based access.

- Once complete, we’ll launch a private holders' channel in Discord.

Unfortunately, Davin had to leave the call early, so Twitter updates were postponed.
