"Hey Gemini, I want to get into Vibecoding. Help me write a simple mini-program, break it down for me, and then let's chat."

That was the very first prompt I wrote regarding Vibecoding. (Shout out to @SongJiang — I only got the idea to record my journey after seeing this pro documenting his daily learning on X). I have to say, Gemini is truly impressive (maybe other AIs are too?). In just one minute, it loaded a "breathing ball" for me, as shown in the picture. What blew my mind the most was actually the glow effect on the text — and that was just one line of code!

Then, we started to deconstruct this not-too-complex HTML code together. Gemini told me: HTML is the "stage," and the content inside are the "actors"; CSS is the "makeup, lighting, and special effects"; JavaScript is the "script and teleprompter."

"Oh," I thought, "so this is programming." Code becomes the skeleton, nerves, and flesh and blood of the program. I felt like I was creating a new form of life — in less than a minute, even if it only lives on my computer. Later, we tweaked some details, like changing the ball to red, or using keyframes and setTimeout to slow down its breathing rhythm. Slowly but surely, I deepened my understanding of this breathing ball.

However, I know deep down this is just a front-end page, and it still needs back-end support. So, this is only the beginning. As someone who has given up on countless things halfway in the past, I want to seize this opportunity. As my "Introduction to Computing" professor said in college: "Lifelong learning is the fundamental quality of a programmer."

This is the story of my first encounter with atmosphere-driven coding (Vibecoding). Using AI to master AI. I'll chat more with you all later when I get the chance.
