Punkisodes is an NFT project that enables CryptoPunks to unlock their DNA and activate their IP. It's a fully on-chain platform for CryptoPunks to build their own story. Every step in this journey is an episode of punknative, geeky stuff.

When Yuga Labs acquired the CryptoPunks IP from Larva Labs, Yuga granted commercial rights to the punk holders. Similar to BAYC holders, CryptoPunk holders can now build a story and leverage the community around their CryptoPunk as they see fit. But how? It all starts with a cartridge …

Mint your Punk DNA:

Your punkisodes journey starts with an empty cartridge where you'll mint your CryptoPunk DNA into. Once minted, the DNA infused cartridge will give you the possibility to mint pixel-art merchandise items from your CryptoPunk. The Merchandise items are NFTs as well and contain the commercial rights for that specific DNA-infused merchandise item. If the CryptoPunk decides to distribute the merchandise item, he or she, in fact, decides to hand over commercial rights for that specific item. 

Activate your IP:

Punkisodes allows you to decentralize the IP rights of your CryptoPunk into multiple NFTs that could turn into merchandise  items. Each NFT is the start of its own journey with multiple episodes. Consider it as your decentralized CryptoPunk franchise.

The total number of cartridges is limited to 512 and each cartridge has a capped amount of 21 'prints'. You will have to choose wisely how many cartridge slots you use for each print and when you want to mint them. The way people use and distribute their prints (or even cartridges) is totally up to them and will result in an interesting open market game of scarcity, valuations and commercializations. 

Build your story:

For each Print the Punkisodes team will come up with several episodes, partnerships and propositions. However the owner of each specific “print NFT” can come up with partnerships and initiatives on his/her own behalf. Grants from the treasury can be assigned to community initiatives, where the cartridges will be used as voting power.

For example, an episode could be a pixel-art mixtape infused by your punk DNA. The mixtape will open up the mint for a generative music file based on your punk’s pixel structure. 

You stay in total control to leverage your Punk IP, while Punkisodes provides a platform of utilities/collabs to build your story in a punknative way.

The whole journey is a fully on-chain, pixel art experience honoring the Punk movement and community.

Staying true to the CryptoPunks spirit, there will be no royalties programmed into the smart contracts and the minting of the prints are always free of charge (except for gas fees).

However to serve the community, every 8th & 21th print of the cartridge flows back to the treasury. Although the prints can be bought off in which case the treasury gets funded and you get to keep the print.

Punks are in total control of how many prints they mint with one cartridge and which merchandise items they represent. It’s perfectly fine to stop at 7 prints and limit yourself to a subset of the available merchandise items. Because remember, you’re in total control.

As a best practice, we allow and advise burner wallets to be used for the initial Cartridge mint. However, the NFT will always be minted to the specific address holding the CryptoPunk. This adds another layer of gamification as people can decide to mint a cartridge for a specific CryptoPunk in return for specific merchandise items to commercialize. This will be the same for Wrapped Punks.
