I was pioneering automated energy transactions with multi-agent systems a decade before that.

From Manhattan Grids to Solana Speed

Long before "Agentic AI" was a buzzword, we were deploying it on the power grid. As the founders of Infotility, we pioneered GridAgents™—the first automated, agent-based transactive energy platform.

Our agents were deployed on the front lines: managing Con Edison’s "3G System of the Future" in NYC and powering Smart City infrastructure in Dubai (a venture that resulted in a successful acquisition).

But we learned a few hard lessons in the field: Agents need a Trust Layer, and the speed of decision must match the speed of settlement.

We saw our agents making arbitrage decisions in milliseconds, yet they were forced to wait for slow verification layers to catch up. We knew we needed Blockchain to verify the data, but the blockchain couldn't move as fast as the machine.

We built the "brain" of the future 15 years ago, but we were waiting for the "nervous system" to catch up. That wait is over. Solana provides the sub-second finality our agents have needed all along.

This technology was so far ahead of its time that it was acquired by Pacific Controls to power their "Galaxy 2021" Smart City platform in Dubai. We were using agents to manage the energy profile of an entire city in 2012. We proved then what DePIN is trying to prove now:

Agents can manage the physical world.

But we also learned the terrifying flaw: Garbage In, Disaster Out.

If a sensor lied about its voltage, the agent believed it. In Dubai, we could trust the data because we owned the sensors.

In 2026, nobody owns the sensors.

The AI 3.0 Era (Building the Road)

In 2017, I wrote "AI: 3.0". My thesis was that agents needed a high-speed, fair economy.

Blockchain was too slow. I looked at IOTA (DAG-based DLT), but free transactions did not make sense given the realities of blockchain consensus.

I bet on Hashgraph because agents need finality in seconds and high security.

The R&D Phase: Taekion (2018–2024)

I didn't just write about this; I built it under the strictest requirements on earth.

In 2018, I founded Taekion. For six years, we operated as a deep-tech skunkworks for the US Air Force, DOE, and NSF, solving the hardest problem in distributed systems: Secure Transport and Data Survival in Hostile Environments.

This was sensitive, tactical R&D. We engineered custom aBFT consensus algorithms and prototyped tactical defense networks that could share secrets privately. We even licensed "Network Cloaking" patents to ghost nodes entirely from the visible net.

We pushed the limits of what DLT could handle. We deployed the industry’s first fully on-chain data storage scheme—a private beta running on Hedera (via Hyperledger Sawtooth). We built this architecture years before Hedera launched "HashSpheres," effectively setting the blueprint they would later follow.

Taekion proved we could secure the "Last Mile" for the US Military. Now, R3L Labs is here to speed it up

The Solution: R3L Labs (The Trust Layer)

This is the evolution. R3L Labs takes the battle-tested security IP from Taekion and wraps it in a new Verification Engine.

From Taekion: We use the patented RPS Tunnel to secure the transport (The Armored Truck) + Next-generation Data Tunnel technology.

New for R3L: We add a Hybrid Consensus Engine (AI + Human) to verify the content (The Cargo) + Privacy Preserving Encryption

R3L Agents: To inform the verification engine & process

We are moving from "Consensus of Order" (DLT) to "Consensus of Truth" (Verification).

We aren't just storing data anymore; we are proving it is real.

The Latency of Truth

In an Agentic Economy, 'Truth' has a shelf life.

If an agent verifies a price or an identity, but the network takes 5 seconds to finalize it, that truth is stale. In high-frequency AI markets, truth must be finalized in under 400ms. This is why we are chain-agnostic but performance-obsessed.

Conclusion

From the Smart Grids of Con Edison in Manhattan to the Agent Economy of 2026, the lesson remains the same: Autonomy requires Truth. But in a high-speed machine economy, Truth is only valuable if it arrives in 400ms.

Welcome to AI 4.0

Where Real is Provable
