I’ve never been a fan of the Web3 culture. Or the crypto culture. Or the NFT culture. Mostly because there was lack of understanding / awareness. There was an insane hype in the Web3 space around a year or 2 ago when every inch of VC money got poured into crypto based initiatives and startups. People were in it to WAGMI and get rich quick. This made me actively sway away from exploring the raw beauty of the architecture on which all of this decentralization happens.

It’s been a couple of days since I started my exploratory journey into the Web3 space and it’s been thrilling. I love rich software and everyday I find modern tools and software built on Ethereum that makes me feel joy using them. I’ve been exploring a lot of Crypto wallets and I minted my first NFT! It’s on sale here:

https://foundation.app/@sabeshbesh/8plesth/1?ref=0x2771B4fB28d5dfC48F68025c27644EfAeD167c59

The mere concept of ETH and how all this works is truly fascinating. Frankly, now that the hype for crypto has subdued, it seems like a great time for slow and deep exploration into the space. I don’t know if this will be the future with Web2 corporate networks posing as threat to humanity (especially with the rise of AI) or if Web3 will remain to co-exist peacefully with existing Web2 tech. But the entire concept of digital ownership, incentives and decentralization is truly interesting. Looking at it from both a computer science perspective (Be it hash functions or blockchain) or a practical perspective (De-Fi and ownership) it’s really thrilling and an exciting new way to browse the internet. I want to explore and try out new tools and software analogous to software I’ve been using all this while, but whilst taking true ownership of my content. Some examples I see are:

Medium → Mirror

Instagram → Opensea / Foundation

Twitter → Farcaster

and so on. It’s truly exciting to be here, learning and growing. Lesgo.
