You can stake and lock your $NORTH to get $sNORTH, Staking $NORTH has a 24 hour time lock (Every time a user stakes a $NORTH token, he will not be able to withdraw for the next 24 hours).

Firstly fees (interest, borrow fee and 10% of the liquidation fee for certain markets) are deposited in the $NORTH fee pool in the form of $NORTH tokens. When users single-side stake their $NORTH tokens they receive $sNORTH tokens.

$sNORTH tokens represent your share of the $NORTH fee pool with a mechanism similar to SUSHI/xSUSHI on SushiSwap.

10% of all liquidation fees are also hardcoded to be withdrawn and used to purchase $NORTH tokens in certain markets. These $NORTH tokens are also added to the $NORTH fee pool.

Your $sNORTH tokens are continuously compounding! When you unstake, you will receive all the originally deposited $NORTH tokens plus any additional $NORTH earned from the fee distribution.

The $POLE token is a USD pegged stable coin that is backed by interest bearing tokens.

NorthPole will always consider this token to be worth 1 USD.

Since $POLE is a USD pegged stable coin, it needs to remain at 1 USD. This can be achieved through the mechanics used rely on arbitrage, keeping it simple this can happen in several ways:

In most cases, a lot of the market to market arbitrage is done by automated bots that constantly monitor pools for opportunities to capitalize on these price differences. This has the benefit of having price pegs being corrected quite rapidly.

Before we get into the specifics of this game, I want to tell you what I look for in a passive income opportunity.

The first thing I look for is quality. If you have some experience with DeFi, you should be familiar with the ever growing number of yield farms that promise high digit returns and then the token price drops to dust overnight. If it isn’t a quality product then there will be no token buy pressure and people will dump this token to 0, fast.

The second thing I look for is something novel, this space is filled with copycat projects. Quality isn’t always enough. If it is the 5th-100th version of something good, chances are it will not generate great returns. Sometimes the first few copy cats generate great returns. For a study on this, check out wolf.game and its copy cats, some of them did quite well.

You can have a great product and be missing one key ingredient to make the ROI lucrative: tokenomics. Supply and demand drive all markets. Coins and NFTs prices are driven by market dynamics. I look for scenarios where there can be a significant supply squeeze. This will drive the price of the asset up. Projects with great tokenomics tend to have high lockup incentives or high burning of supply. Some great examples of this are Wolf Game (ETH), RadioCaca (BSC), MAGIC (arbitrum) and LUNA, the native token of Terra.

An optional 4th trait is confidence in the long term price appreciation of the coin or NFT. For example, RadioCaca’s core product is a Metaverse that is not out yet. When RACA launched a very simple game called Metamons, it did extremely well because people saw long term value in the assets they were getting. This is not necessarily a requirement. Wolf Game had a meteoric rise without any known long term plans for the projects at the time.

Now that you understand the defining qualities I look for. Let’s dive into Heroes of Mavia.

In this article, I’ll focus on the Tokenomics part of the above. Please check out my previous article to understand my HoM thesis on quality, novelty and long term desire.

HoM has a dual token system. Mavia is their governance token and Ruby is their in-game economy token.

Mavia is the governance token. Tokens give you voting rights on decisions that affect the game. There will also be incentives for holding and staking this token to earn more Mavia and game assets.

The price of Mavia will have a direct correlation to the success of the game. If you bet that this game will be big, Mavia will be greatly correlated to its success.

***The incentives to stake for Mavia are yet to be released, I’ll post a follow up when we have some concrete numbers to work with.

For now, let’s dive into some strategies on how to make more Mavia!

2. HoM’s NFT marketplace only supports Mavia tokens. If you are a patient NFT trader, you can find deals. When people need a quick sale for liquidity or get impatient with the game release, these can be great buying opportunities. Wait for the right time to relist at a higher price.

3. Pro tip: play the game with your NFTs to level them up for higher resale value.

5. HoM marketplace will have an amazing feature that lets you rent out your land to other players for Mavia! This is already happening in other games but it’s done informally through discord chats. You had to trust the other person was not going to rip you off. Now with this native marketplace feature you can set your rental price and earn Mavia passively without risking loss of your assets!

6. Pro tip: Rare land will be more valuable. Higher level lands will be more valuable. Lands with heroes and statues will be even more valuable to rent.

8. Staking Mavia will allow you to earn more Mavia! 25% of the total Mavia supply is allocated for staking rewards. Exact staking rewards are to be confirmed but with most staking, it’s best to get in as early as possible!

As more people buy Ruby and burn Ruby to get higher level NFTs, this will squeeze the supply of the available Ruby, causing the price to climb. Ultimately, increasing players’ appetite for more Ruby.

17. The best way to play yourself is to play the game a lot and bring up your base levels to high levels as quickly as possible. Then, once you are happy with the Ruby output, start to sell for profits.
