Hello everyone! Welcome to the first article of Weekly Amazing Projects Digest, as well as the second post here at Side Project Hub. Weekly Amazing Projects Digest is a weekly publication of amazing projects discovered or launched throughout the week, with the help of social media. I tried my best to select and share the projects that I believe that is the most unique and provide the most innovative solution.

1st Project: Octarine

At the top place for this publication, I would like to introduce you to Octarine, which is a lightweight software tool for writing notes through markdown. Based on my download, the entire software is just 27.3 MB, which is extremely lightweight, however I do not have too much notes through, so the size may increase if you have a ton of things to store and save.

Octarine is a lightweight tool for writing amazing notes, planning your schedule, or organise all of your saved notes, directly through markdown and WYSIWYG editor. It is available on MacOS, Windows, Linux, Arch Linux and Homebrew. They have many useful tools including:

Sync and backup notes with Git, very useful for developers especially.

Syncing all of your notes to GitHub or Gitlab.

Create notes based on a certain date, sorta like a journal too.

Link multiple notes together to create a web of connections between notes.

Have multiple workspaces, to separate all of your notes between personal, work and much more, as well as utilise tag for categorising your notes too.

Write without distractions too, as there is no ads.

Maintaining complete ownership and control of your content, as everything is stored within your device through their software.

Premium writing assistant, which can help you search for information through all of your notes too. Cost $60 for lifetime licenses used on 3 devices simultaneously.

Personally, I felt that Octarine deserve this top spot as it have many amazing features, and very usable on the free plan with most features available despite being a freemium product. I also very like it because all notes is available as markdown and can be synced with Git providers, which make it very easy to access all of my notes across multiple devices. I also think it is quite safe for everyone to use too, as everything is stored within your device, so you will be able to access all of your notes easily and have full control of these files without worries.

https://octarine.app/

2nd Project: Mapzaar

Coming up next, the second project I would like to introduce you to Mapzaar. Mapzaar is a website that let all users to create maps that can be shared or discovered by other users. You can create any maps you liked, and share it to others so other can discover it and potentially learn some new knowledge. I felt that this is very interesting, as we can create maps together, and share it with our friends or family. Some of the use case I can think of including used during travel, and much more.

Some of the cool features from Mapzaar includes:

Create maps that can be easily share with others

Follow creators you liked so you would be notified of new maps

Get updates when places are added or removed from a map

Search across maps to find exactly what you are looking for

Explore amazing locations around the world

Overall, Mapzaar is a good side project based on our own opinion, as it will enable people to be able to easily create a ticket and share it with others. We believe Mapzaar make it easier for all of us to create maps, and share it with others. I believe this can be very useful for people to create maps of specific interests and share it with others. With more features, I believe this platform can turn into a platform for maps creators around the world.

https://www.mapzaar.com/

3rd Project: Oopsly

Lastly, the last project that I would like to introduce you to Oopsly. There are many websites around the world where I noticed that have a very simple 404 page, which make the website feel less interesting and will quickly lose our attention as we feel lost in the website. Oopsly is a very simple project that let other companies to develop amazing 404 pages for any websites, in which I believe that can increase user retention overall.

To create amazing 404 page, Oopsly has a website page builder within their website. Through that website builder, you can customise the presets of the page (14 options), and write the title and message that will be shown to users. You also can pick the emoji shown on the page, whether to display a button to redirect back to home page and the colour of the background too, directly through the builder.

Although Oopsly might not look fancy, have a ton of features or anything, however I feature this project here as I believe it can solve a common issue, an uninteresting 404 pages in most websites. I believe that through this project, website developer can utilise this to make their website 404 page to be as little bit more better.

https://oopsly.vercel.app/

That is all for this week article. I would like to thanks you for reading this week publication. It take me days to go through all of the projects submitted to us, before picking these 3 projects, so I hope you guys liked all of these projects that I shared. More projects will be shared soon!

If you like this article, I welcome you to subscribe to our newsletter for any future articles here on Side Project Hub and share it with your friends or on social media!
