New sNFT series: Slingshot Onchain Summer

In celebration, we’ve launched a brand new sNFT series exclusively for Slingshot subscribers to mint limited edition NFTs on Base! To kick things off, minting is now live for ‘Summer Launch’, the very first NFT in our ‘Slingshot Onchain Summer’ series.

‘Summer Launch’ is available for Slingshot Mirror subscribers to mint on Base for the price of .002 ETH from now until August 24, 2023 at 11:59pm PST. Each series serves as an on-chain celebration of broader Slingshot achievements and a unique way for Slingshot community members to show their support.

First-time sNFT collectors who mint ‘Summer Launch’ will earn the ‘Mirror Fren’ role in Discord. The Slingshot Guide to Base

Bridging and swapping on Base are both supported by Slingshot web and mobile apps. You can connect to Base from the network menus on both web and mobile, accessible in various locations, such as the main bridge and swap pages. As shown below for web:

How to bridge into Base from web

Step 1 - Select Base from the bridging page.

Step 2 - Select the preferred token and amount that you would like to bridge into Base.

Step 3 - Review your bridge summary and approve the action to bridge assets from one network into Base.

Note: Check that the network you’re bridging from has a balance that can support the requested bridge.

How to swap tokens on Base from web

Step 1 - Connect to base from the network menu.

Step 2 - Select the preferred token pairs and amount that you would like to swap.

Step 3 - Review your swap summary and approve the action to swap tokens on Base.

Note: Check that the assets you currently have on Base can support the requested swap action.

The bridging and swapping flow for Slingshot Wallet is very similar to the above steps for doing so on web.

Bridging into Base from mobile

Select Base for bridging and choose the token and amount you’ll be bridging from one network to Base. Review the bridge summary and confirm the action.

Swapping on Base from mobile

Connect to Base from the network menu and visit the swap page. Select the preferred token pairs and amount you’ll be swapping, review the swap summary and confirm the action.

Slingshot Feature Updates

Hardware wallet support for Slingshot Wallet

In case you missed our announcement yesterday… you can now connect your Ledger Nano X hardware wallet to Slingshot Wallet! See, manage, and swap what’s on your Ledger all from your mobile device. We thank you for referring your friends to Slingshot Wallet. But more importantly, your friends will thank you too. Here’s what you need to know to refer:

Step 1 - You will see a Referral banner on the Home Page of your Slingshot Wallet, tap the banner to find the ‘Refer friends’ page. You can also access the ‘Refer friends’ page by tapping the ‘Rewards’ icon at the top right of your screen.

Step 2 - From the ‘Refer friends’ page, you will find your referral code, referral tracker, referral rank, and the share referral button. Tap ‘Share link’ to send your friends and family your referral code. And share it on Twitter too! Remember, the more people who use your code, the better.

Step 3 - Scroll down the ‘Refer friends’ page to view the referral rewards and requirements for unlocking them. Please note the following requirements:

• Your referred friends must be new users who haven’t connected their wallets or have an existing username on Slingshot Wallet.

• They must use your referral code.

• They must complete their first swap.

Unlocked card skins are also added into your customizer, if you decide to use them later.

Referee Guide

If you are an eligible referee, then you are a new user to Slingshot Wallet. Welcome! Here’s how you unlock your unique card skin and become a referrer yourself..

Step 1 - In order to enter the referral code and unlock your unique card skin, you will need to either create a new Slingshot Wallet, or import an existing wallet. Check out the below guides for:

Step 2 - Once you have your wallet set up, enter the referral code into the Referee Page. Please note: You must complete your first swap to unlock your unique card skin.

Step 4 - You will be brought back to the Home Page. Tap the ‘Reward’ icon at the top right of your screen to visit the Rewards Page and continue the required steps for unlocking your unique skin.

Step 5 - From the ‘Rewards Page’, tap the ‘Unlock referral skin’ banner to get directed to the ‘Swap Page.’

Step 6 - You will need to complete your first swap to unlock your referral skin. For more information on the swapping process (i.e., selecting supported networks and token pairs), check out our Slingshot Wallet Swapping Guide.

Bridging: Bridging is the transfer of assets from one network to another. When you are connected to a specific network (i.e., Ethereum) and have crypto on-chain, you can only send, receive, and swap crypto on the network you already have your assets on. If you want to send your crypto cross-chain (i.e., Ethereum to Polygon), this is what bridging is for.

Promo Guide and Reward Structure

Before we begin, please remember that all eligibility and participation for Slingshot promos is subject to our T&C. This promo is for mobile* *users only.

To find the promo in your Slingshot Wallet, tap the reward icon at the top of your home page. This is where ongoing promos and current/past rewards are located in-app. You will see ‘Bridge to Polygon’ at the top of the page.

Below is the reward structure for our Mobile MATIC Bridge Promo. Rewards are based on the total volume bridged into Polygon during the promo, not per individual bridge. If you participate in this promo using multiple wallets, the bridging volume for all of your wallets will be totaled and rewards will be available to claim in your highest-volume wallet, per our eligibility rules.

Bridging Into Polygon Guide

Step 1 - Once you are on the mobile bridging page, make sure that you are bridging into Polygon. For the example below, we will be bridging from Ethereum into Polygon. Reminder: You must bridge into Polygon during the allotted time period to be considered eligible for rewards. 

Step 2 - Select the token you are sending cross-chain, and the amount. Check that you have the required assets available to successfully bridge, gas included. For this example, we will bridging .003 ETH from Ethereum into Polygon.

Step 3 - Once you've chosen the token amount, tap 'Review' to see the bridging details before hitting 'Confirm' to finalize the action. 

Step 4 - After tapping 'Confirm' you will see a pending page until the bridge is complete. Please note: it may take several moments for bridging to pend and for your assets to arrive at the designated network. If you would like to speed up the process, you can pay a small fee in order to do so.

Step 5 - You are able to navigate elsewhere in the app while your bridge is pending. If you leave the pending page, you can easily check on the status of your bridge from your home page, and you will be notified immediately once bridging is complete.

General Guideline

Starting today, we will be revealing a new task each day of the campaign. Each daily task must be completed within the set campaign hours. Some tips before you dive in:

• Download Slingshot Wallet.

Rewards and Requirements

Each daily task is unique, but all four days have the same core requirement in order to successfully be completed and for reward eligibility to be determined: Twitter. The daily tasks are multi-layered, and a social component is the final step to each one.

Below is the general campaign structure. While eligibility and credentials are the same each day, the specific tasks are different, with number of daily $CANTO rewards increasing each day.

Slingshot Wallet Glossary

We’ve put together a Slingshot Wallet overview as a guide for new users. If you are looking for more elaborate feature walkthroughs and tutorials, you can find them in our Slingshot Wallet Help Center.

Once you’ve downloaded the app and have either created a new Slingshot Wallet or imported an external one, you will be brought to the Home Page. At the bottom of your screen are the tabs for the three main pages: the Home Page, the Explore Page, and the Account Page. 

The Home Page - This is the main page for your customized Slingshot Wallet experience. From here you can access and add to your wallet collection via the Wallet Selector, start swapping from the Swap Page, and bridge cross-chain from the Bridging Page. You can also view your existing assets, wallet balance, token watchlist, and your swap history.

By tapping the icons highlighted in green above, you can access the individual pages and features. Shown below are the Wallet Selector, Swap Page, and Bridging Page. Bridging is made seamless through our partnership with Socket. While support for Canto is coming soon, bridging for all other networks is currently live.

Funding, Bridging, Connecting to Canto

Before we dive into our swapping tutorial, let’s talk about bridging first. Yes, we know it’s a bit of a hassle to externally bridge, and we’ve got something in the works to help out with that 👀, but for now, the best external resources will just have to do.

How it currently works: You can go on your Slingshot Wallet at this moment and easily switch from your current network to Canto, but in order to successfully place swaps on Canto, you must have existing funds for Canto transactions. If you have yet to ‘send’ funds from a network you primarily connect to and have existing assets on (such as Ethereum Mainnet) to your Canto address, this is what bridging is for.

For bridging to and from Canto, we recommend Synapse Protocol (Official Bridge Link: https://synapseprotocol.com/)  for overall ease and security. We’ve provided links for a guide to Synapse bridging along with a guide for using the official Canto Bridge, if preferred.

Please Note: To swap on Canto with Slingshot Wallet, we suggest that users initially bridge to Canto on desktop, and then either import the same wallet into Slingshot Wallet or send the assets bridged on desktop to their mobile address. We recommend the process of bridge on desktop → swap on mobile, because it currently is a trickier process to bridge on mobile.

How to swap on Canto with Slingshot Wallet

Here’s your step by step tutorial for connecting your Slingshot Wallet to the Canto network and swapping all of your favorite Canto based assets and more. If you are new to Slingshot Wallet and have not yet created one, check out the resources below to help you get started (and a reminder that Slingshot Wallet is still in beta for both iOS and Android):

Now let’s swap some $CANTO!

Step 1 - If you have multiple wallets in your Slingshot Wallet collection, select the wallet with the necessary assets to place a successful swap. (Note: You will receive an ‘insufficient funds’ message if your selected wallet does not have assets available to swap on Canto).

Step 2 - After you’ve selected the wallet you will be swapping with, tap the ‘Swap’ button on your Homepage to go to the Swap page.

Step 3 - Once you’re on the Swap page, double check that you’re connected to the Canto network. If not, tap the network you’re currently connected to at the top of your screen, and then select Canto from the network selection menu to switch.

Step 4 - Search for and select the tokens you’d like to swap using the ‘From’ and ‘To’ tabs at the top of the screen, right under the selected network. The ‘From’ tab is the token you’re using to get the token you’re swapping ‘To’.

Note: You should already have a balance of the token you’re swapping ‘From’, otherwise you will not be able to complete a swap. In the below example, the user is connected to Canto and is planning to swap ‘From’ $CANTO ‘To’ $NOTE.

Step 5 - After you’ve selected your token pair, use the number keys to enter the amount of tokens you’ll be swapping.

Step 6 - When you’re ready, tap the ‘Review’ button to look over the details of your current swap.

Step 7 - Once you’ve reviewed, press the ‘Confirm’ button to give final approval for your swap.

Step 8 - After Confirming, you will be notified that your swap is pending and will take a few seconds to officially go through. (Note: If you have second thoughts within the waiting period, you can cancel your swap for a small fee).

Step 9 - Once your swap has gone through, you will be notified that it was successful! And when you return to your Homepage, your token list will be updated and your new token / added balance will be visible. Congrats!

A quick introduction and overview to Canto for newcomers. First off, welcome! Secondly, we suggest you check out our first blog (ever) from last August, Slingshot expands to Canto, enabling 0% LP fee trading to learn more about Canto and Slingshot’s role within the Canto ecosystem.

In just one year, we’ve worked to add network support and integrate DEXs, run incentives and reward promos, and have seen consistent user growth and heightened wallet activity, all while building our Slingshot Wallet. Below we highlight our growth using original Slingshot data from 2022.

Swapping with Slingshot: Swap Volume & Wallet Activity from 2022

Our Slingshot desktop application supports multiple networks and numerous DEX integrations, so that our users can search for over 40,000 tokens at the best price to swap using Slingshot. In total, $1.26b volume was swapped across all supported Slingshot networks during 2022. Two of our most popular networks, Arbitrum and Optimism, saw a combined $485m swapping volume this year. As for our other supported networks, 29% of all Slingshot users are multi-chain, meaning they’ve swapped on at least two different networks.

Switching our focus from volume to wallet activity, just this week Slingshot surpassed 300k active wallets. We use the term ‘wallet activity’ or ‘active wallets’ for wallets that have connected to Slingshot and/or have swapped tokens using our application. During 2022, 76% of connected wallets swapped using Slingshot, meaning 238k performed swaps using Slingshot out of the 312k wallets connected. Since the beginning of January, 210k wallets swapped for the first time with Slingshot. In spite of industry events, we saw our peak wallet activity last month during November with 68k wallets swapping out of 98k active wallets.

Highlighted Networks on Slingshot: Arbitrum, Optimism, & Canto

This year, our leading networks for swapping volume and wallet activity were Arbitrum and Optimism. Before diving into the findings for these two networks, we’d like to first highlight the Canto network. We launched network support for Canto just this August, yet we’ve already seen impressive growth. In just a few months, 15k unique wallets have swapped $174m volume on Canto using Slingshot. We look forward to supporting the continued growth of Canto.

As stated earlier, there was a combined $485m Slingshot swapping volume between Arbitrum and Optimism this year. We’ve previously published blogs to individually highlight the Slingshot growth that we’ve seen on both of these networks. To read more about Arbitrum, click here. This year on Arbitrum: There was a total of $278m volume swapped using Slingshot, with $19m swapped during our peak week in November. Overall, there have been 142k active wallets that have swapped on Arbitrum with Slingshot. Out of all DEX aggregators, Slingshot retail market share on Arbitrum has hovered around 38% for the past 30 days.

This year on Optimism: There was a total of $207m volume swapped using Slingshot, with $90m swapped during our peak week in September. Overall, 65k active wallets have swapped on Optimism with Slingshot. And for the past 30 days, Slingshot retail market share on Optimism has been around 25%.

Promo to Promo: Slingshot Rewards from 2022

From our mobile waitlist, to our various OP Promos, to our partnership with Layer3, there was no shortage of opportunity for our users to get involved and get rewards. We’ll be taking what we learned this year and bringing the heat to 2023. Below are details from our top performing promos this year.

Optimism: Slingshot OP Promos

Specific to Optimism, we ran two promo types this year, one type that was active, and one type that was passive. Our OP Token Reward Promos actively ran for a set amount of time, known by the user, and resulted in a certain amount of OP token rewards, dependent on the tier reached for swapping volume. Similar in respect to reward tiers, our OP Past Swap Bonus rewarded users who had swapped a certain amount within a past time frame. If users reached a certain tier threshold of swapping volume, we rewarded them with the respective amount of OP tokens. Combined results from both OP Token Reward Promos:

• 15.7k users participated

• Total swapping volume of $94m in under 3 days

• Post-promo swapping volume of $15m+

Key insights from both OP Past Bonus Promos:

• Post-promo 6k new users and 10% increase in first swaps on Optimism

• Combined total of 13k OP tokens awarded to 4.5k Slingshot users who swapped $100 during the allotted bonus period

Diamond Hands Rewards

Offered specifically to our mobile waitlist users, the Diamond Hands Reward was given to mobile waitlist users who swapped $100+ using Slingshot within the eight day timeframe. At the time, the Diamond Rewards were worth up to $3k in value. There were 8k participants who swapped a total $4.5m in volume. Nearly 40% of participants were new to Slingshot and an additional 20k referrals were made to the mobile waitlist.

Waitlist Referral Rewards

This May, we announced our mobile app along with our Mobile Waitlist. We hit 1m sign ups in under 3 days and had 2.5m waitlisters at closing time. After announcing, we saw double the amount of swapping users from the month before. While the waitlist was live, we ran a referral program for our users to refer friends & family to the waitlist and get rewarded for participation. Rewards included 1 btc and boxes worth up to $3k in value. We set referral tiers so that top referrers would get larger rewards.

Slingshot x Layer3 Partnership

Since we launched our first Slingshot Quest on Layer3, we’ve seen notable user growth and overall participation. Our Quests have ranged from being network-specific, multi-chain, socially driven, to NFT centric. Users who complete Slingshot Quests on Layer3 are rewarded. We’re looking forward to our continued partnership and to launching more Quests in 2023, one of which will be full of Slingshot Wallet Bounties!

Personalized Stats: Slingshot 2022 Wrap Up

Throughout this year, it has been exciting to see continued use and growth for some of our favorite Slingshot features. We put together a 2022 Wrap Up for our users to see their swapping stats from Slingshot, along with their usage of additional features. Slingshot users who reached the top 10% for certain criteria were given NFT Badges as a reward. And we sent participation badges to everyone who swapped a token on Slingshot, traded a 2099 NFT, or sent a message in the Global Chat.

In terms of 2022 user stats for our Global Chat and Slingshot 2099 Marketplace, 18k users sent messages in-app using our Global Chat and 19k users transacted 2099 NFT items this year. Remember that if you’re in the top 10% for either of these, you’ve been airdropped an NFT badge.

We’ve been heads down building Slingshot Wallet, the next generation non-custodial DeFi wallet, and we can’t wait to publicly launch it for iOS and Android in the App Store and Google Play Store. Our anticipated public launch date is early 2023, so please stay tuned for our official announcement.

For the past few weeks and those leading up to the public launch, we’ve been sending waves of invites out to our waitlisted iOS & Android users for them to experience Slingshot Wallet via beta testing. The results have been phenomenal, and the feedback equally so, we’re thrilled that our mobile app has been so positively received by our fellow beta testers. While still in beta, Slingshot Wallet has already surpassed $2m in swapping volume. We anticipate continued volume growth come launch.

Slingshot became the largest DEX Aggregator by retail market share in November, 2022.

In regards to our competitors, our Arbitrum retail market share has been at 45% for the past 30 days. Last month, during November, our retail market share was the highest out of all DEX aggregators on Arbitrum, at 50%.

80x increase of wallets using Slingshot to swap assets on Arbitrum.

This past November, we saw a total of 56k wallets actively using Slingshot to swap tokens on the Arbitrum network. This is an 80x increase from last November, where we saw 0.7k active wallets using Slingshot on Arbitrum. We’ve continued to see a rise in wallet activity for those who choose Slingshot as their application for swapping on Arbitrum. Over the past year, there have been a total of 126k active wallets using Slingshot on Arbitrum.

$46m volume swapped on Arbitrum using Slingshot during November 2022, with 12x volume growth since November 2021.

Just this past month, $46m volume was swapped on the Arbitrum network using Slingshot. This equated in a 12x increase from November 2021, when we saw $3.7m volume swapped on Arbitrum using Slingshot. In total, $264m volume has been swapped with Slingshot on Arbitrum over the past year.

Support expanded and opportunities increased.

While we have supported Arbitrum One for over a year, we recently added support for Arbitrum Nova, as well. For those who may not be as familiar with Nova, it is catered toward the gaming and NFT communities, and offers transactions specifically for these types of projects.

Our most recent Quest we launched on Layer3 was multi-chain, offering unique reward opportunities for users who participated. The first Bounty incentivized users to swap on Arbitrum using Slingshot, to get 250 XP. We’ve previously included Arbitrum in Layer3 Quests, and look forward to more.

Which networks are currently supported? 

Slingshot Wallet currently supports the following networks: Polygon, Arbitrum One, Optimism, BNB Chain, and Canto. 

What new networks will go live with the launch? 

The soft roll out of Ethereum Mainnet on mobile is happening today (11.18) and will officially be announced next week. The first few weeks of Ethereum Mainnet support will be in beta for our users. You will be able to check balances and prices, but expect improvement over time for best-use.

Wallet Release

Can anyone test Slingshot Wallet? How can new community members participate in beta testing for iOS and Android?

We are prioritizing our users on the waitlist who have made legitimate referrals. This being said, we also keep an active eye on our DMs, both Slingshot and team member accounts. When is the public launch?

We anticipate that the public launch of Slingshot Wallet will happen in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for our official announcement. And no, we do not have a token nor do we have plans to release one in the near future. If anything changes, we will announce it publicly through verifiable sources.

Any Update on Waitlist Referral Rewards?

Wallet Features

Are there any additional features that will be available at the time of launch?

The current Testflight version should be fairly close to the launch version, with the addition of Ethereum Mainnet support. However, we will continually be making upgrades and adding features to Slingshot Wallet post-launch, and always appreciate suggestions and feedback from our users on how to best improve our applications.

Will Ape Mode be available?

Yes, the Ape Mode feature will be available in Slingshot Wallet. The toggle for Ape Mode will be in the Settings section of the app.

Will there be a portfolio section?

We are currently working on the portfolio section. Slingshot real-time charts will get added, but potentially at a later date.

Will there be a way to connect the mobile app to the desktop version? Chrome browser extension?

Yes, browser extension support will become available sometime next year.

Wallet Security

Is Slingshot Wallet safe? How has Slingshot ensured the security of the app? Has it been audited?

Slingshot Wallet was audited for security purposes before we began rolling out beta testing for our waitlisters. To learn more, please read our recent blog detailing the audit findings from the Auditware team here. Safety and security are of utmost importance to us, especially when building a non-custodial wallet. And we will make sure that future features are secure before shipping.

What about integrating a web2 pattern like ‘forgotten password,’ in case users lose their seed phrases and can’t get back into their wallet?

We have considered this option. Currently, backup is the commonly used method of a 12 word seed phrase. We understand that some people might be more comfortable with a traditional username/password setup, so we are looking into cloud backup as well. 

There is some pretty cool new wallet tech coming in the next year which is similar to traditional Web2 user/pass but with a decentralized nature, utilizing Multi-Party Computation (MPC) which we will explore implementing.

Desktop App Features

New features since the last AMA?

Since our last AMA, our team has been heads down building Slingshot Wallet. However, we’ve also added some desktop features, network support, and DEX integrations. 

• Lightmode is now available on desktop via toggle

• Recent network support include: Osmosis, Canto, (secretly) Arbitrum Nova. Ethereum Mainnet support will be coming to desktop later. 

• DEX integrations: Arbitrum One (DODO). BNB Chain (Biswap, DODO). Polygon (DODO). Optimism (Curve). Nova (Sushiswap). Mainnet (Uniswap V3, Curve).

Are there plans to add a limit order feature on the swap page anytime soon?

This was actually discussed in a meeting this week. The question of how to deliver limit orders in a non-custodial, decentralized manner is something we are actively trying to solve. We hope that we will be able to offer this in the next 3 to 6 months.

Why doesn’t Slingshot have a staking function?

There are an endless number of features that we would like to, and plan to, add to our apps. Staking is definitely one of them. Ideally, we’d like to add a Dollar Cost Average feature, chart upgrades, and present-feature improvements.

Are there any plans to add bridging between networks?

Yes, we are working on bridging right now and hope to launch support before the end of the year.

NFTs

Are there plans to support NFTs in Slingshot Wallet? Such as sending and receiving NFTs, or buying and selling?

There will be the option to use 2099 NFTs as card skins, along with send/receive NFT and NFT collection viewing support. While NFT trading is not currently supported, this may be a future feature.

Any updates on Slingshot 2099 NFTs?

We actually have an upcoming 2099 drop. The collection will be the same style and universe, but a new line of designs for a 2099 metaverse identity.

Findings from Auditware, summarized

With over 2 million users on the waitlist for Slingshot Wallet, we kicked off beta testing on iOS and Android this past month. While we were eager to share Slingshot Wallet even sooner, we’ve tempered our eagerness with patience and secured a third-party, expert verification of our app’s reliability and security prior to release. Auditware is an expert team of professionals with over seven years of experience in the Web3 space, specializing in audits and security tooling. They conduct smart contract, application, and OpSec audits for Web3 projects.

To ensure safeguarding of user assets, Auditware inspected for “highly tuned security controls and defense-in-depth measures,” in Slingshot Wallet’s audit. Their focus areas included wallet management (key generation, encryption, integrity assurance), authentication (bypass, brute force capability), and data tampering and UI redress. The following security measures were highlighted by Auditware as key examples for Slingshot Wallet’s defense:

Encryption

• “The private keys and mnemonic seeds of a user’s wallet are encrypted in the Slingshot wallet—so that they are even protected from being read by an attacker with access to your phone.” —Auditware

• Further improvements to wallet encryption integrity were made following the audit, in order to “guard against highly unlikely yet theoretically possible cryptographic tampering attacks.” —Auditware

Authentication

• As a user, setting a strong app PIN is extremely important when controlling access to encrypted data. As wallet developers, we believed it paramount to integrate proper protection for user PINs.

• “The Slingshot team implemented a brute-force lockout to the PIN screen to prevent determined attackers from being able to guess your PIN after many tries.” —Auditware

Overall, Auditware “found no critical vulnerabilities in the application. The Slingshot Wallet is securely designed, and only minor suggestions to improve defense-in-depth were recommended.” To view all findings from Auditware, you can access their full audit report here.

Slingshot joins the Blockchain Association

The Blockchain Association (BA) is leading integral movements within the DeFi industry to provide a positive public policy environment, so that the Web3 future can best be supported by the U.S. The BA creates strong relations between their members, the larger industry, and the government through education, advocacy, and coordination.

The BA is regarded highly for their achievements within the space, and their selection process for new members is extensive, as they “are chosen for their commitment to responsibly building and investing in the next generation of digital services.” Slingshot is honored to join and work alongside other BA members, which range from top centralized exchanges including Crypto.com, Grayscale, and Kraken, to asset management and investment groups including GoldenTree, Polychain Capital, and Bain Capital Crypto, to various blockchain projects and ecosystems like Aave, Ledger, Messari, and Solana Foundation, and others.

A guide to swapping on Optimism using Slingshot

To swap on the Optimism network with Slingshot, go to the token swapping page. Once you’ve connected your wallet and are on the ‘Swap’ page, follow the below guide for getting connected to the Optimism network and learning how to place swaps.

• Navigate to the right of the screen for the swap widget. Click on the network at the top right of the widget to reveal the network selection menu.

• Once you’re in the network selection menu, click on ‘Optimism’ to switch from the network you’re currently on (in above image, current network is Arbitrum).

• After you’ve selected Optimism as your preferred network, go back to the Swap Widget and click on the ‘Choose Token’ button to select the token you’d like to swap for.

• The minimum amount needed to swap in order to be eligible for the promo, in relation to USD, is $100. If you receive an ‘Insufficient funds’ message, you will need to add funds into your wallet before trying to swap again.

• Once you have sufficient funds in your wallet and are satisfied with the amount you’ll be swapping for, click ‘Review Order’ to be directed to the ‘Order Summary’ window, where all details to your swap request are located.

• From this modal, you’re able to adjust ‘Execution Speed’ gas fees, along with the ‘Maximum Slippage’ you are willing to accept for your swap.

• Please note: If your wallet is not connected to the Optimism network, Slingshot will ask permission to switch from the current network your wallet is connected to.

• Lastly, click ‘Place Order’ to send a request to your connected wallet to authorize the swap. You will be notified with complete order details as soon as the swap goes through.

14x increase of wallets using Slingshot to swap assets on Optimism

During January, there were 1.3k wallets active on Slingshot that were swapping assets on the Optimism network. Last month, during August, there were 18.8k wallets active, showing a 14x increase in monthly number of Optimism wallets on Slingshot from January to August. We’ve seen a consistent rise in wallet activity throughout the past eight months, with a median amount of 4.2k active wallets in April, and recent months accounting for the largest increase in swapping activity. Overall, Slingshot has been used by 38.8k individual wallets on the Optimism network since the beginning of this year.

$26m of volume was swapped on Optimism using Slingshot during August. And nearly $70m so far this year.

January brought the first full month of volume insight for Slingshot on Optimism, with $2.7m volume swapped. This past month, there was $23m more volume swapped in August than in January, with last month bringing a total of $26.1m in swapping volume on Optimism. Our other largest months were April and June, with $12.5m and $13.2m in swapping volume. In relation to USD, Slingshot swapping volume on Optimism grew by more than 9x in just eight months, with a total of $69.6m volume swapped from January through August, 2022.

OP Token Promos & Bonuses

During August, we teamed up with Layer3 to run an OP token promo for users to get up to 12 OP tokens when they swapped on Optimism using Slingshot. In under 24 hours, $10m of volume was swapped by 7k+ participants. The promo was intended to run from August 15th until August 21st, but within a day, our 50k OP tokens of rewards had already been accounted for.

Shortly after the OP Token Promo, we surprised select users when we awarded OP tokens for the first time as a bonus for swapping certain tiers of volume on Optimism from August 22nd until August 31st. Those who achieved Tier 3 were eligible to claim 25 OP tokens.

From August 15th through August 21st, Slingshot was ranked top user project in the Optimism ecosystem, and #1 amongst similar applications for transaction count and number of users. Since then, we have consistently remained a top three project on Optimism, as ranked by Dune.

Looking Forward

As Slingshot continues to expand within the Optimism ecosystem, we’re excited to see further growth in swapping volume and number of active wallets. We anticipate future integrations to deepen liquidity, with four DEX integrations currently available on Optimism, including Curve, Beethoven X, Uniswap V3, and Velodrome. While unlocking tokens is always required when engaging with any new contracts, we also recommend revoking any token permissions you may have with the previous Slingshot contract as a best practice.

For your ease and efficiency in revoking permissions, we have prepared a guide for revoking token approval directly from chain-specific block explorers below.

Guide to revoking token approval

(1) Select the desired block explorer

• Use the block explorer of the specified chain from which you need to revoke token approvals from. Below are direct links to each chain’s approval checker.

  • Arbitrum: https://arbiscan.io/tokenapprovalchecker

  • Optimism: https://optimistic.etherscan.io/tokenapprovalchecker

  • Polygon: https://polygonscan.com/tokenapprovalchecker

(2) Connect your wallet

• First, enter your wallet address and connect your wallet to the respective approval checker. Make sure you enter your wallet address correctly to avoid any issues.

• Please note: If your wallet is not connected to the correct network, you will be prompted to switch your network. Once you’ve successfully switched networks, you will need to “Connect Wallet” again to the block explorer.

(3) Locate the tokens you want to revoke

• Once you’ve successfully connected your wallet, you will have access to all of your previously approved tokens, along with their approved sender.

• Tokens approved for the expired Slingshot contract will have the following Approved Sender contract IDs for each respective block explorer:

  • Arbitrum: 0x3d685292905961e7c5c1cb9327a51314d283874d

  • Optimism: 0xbf1e8e287579afad68cc82fc801c3c07b8c5ae59

  • Polygon: 0xF2e4209afA4C3c9eaA3Fb8e12eeD25D8f328171C

(4) Revoke Token

• Once you have identified the token that you would like to revoke, click the ‘Revoke Button’ on the right of the entry, then confirm the revoke action. Your connected wallet will then be prompted to grant access to revoking the permission for this selected token.

(5) Give your wallet permission to access the token

• From your connected wallet, you will need to confirm the transaction to revoke the permission from the selected token.
