The Sneaky Bird Labs team has made the difficult decision to pause the Chonkz Project until further notice. It’s important to understand that this is not the end of the project, simply we have encountered an absolutely unavoidable situation that has caused us to re-evaluate the entire Chonkz ecosystem and plan moving forward.

As you are all aware, we completed the acquisition of the Chonkz project on September 1, 2022 from the previous team ARO. During the acquisition there were agreements made on what would be delivered to the project regarding assets and the second phase of the collection (Podz). Our team has been patiently waiting, and trying to continue to build, for those assets for two months now.

We have not received the assets necessary to continue building or moving forward with the planned Roadmap from the previous team. We have not received the base 3D model for the Chonkz (which would allow us to finalize the TCG) and we have not received any work on the Podz that was supposed to be at least partially completed. Additionally, we have not received communication from the previous team, or founder, since October 1, 2022.

The simple fact of the matter is that without those assets we can not continue with the current iteration or plan for Chonkz and must revisit the drawing board to create a new plan for the project. We had a very finite amount of time to continue the project’s recovery in a way that made sense for all involved and that time has passed. As of now, there is no reasonable way for us to continue the Chonkz project in its current iteration.

Now, this does not mean the end of Chonkz forever or a finality to the end of the project. Our team is working behind the doors to find a new plan for Chonkz in the future. It has, however, been paused without a future date on the announcement as we work with our legal team on the breach of contract and ensuring that not only do we continue to own the rights to those assets in perpetuity but that we will hold the previous team responsible for the breach of contract.

We do understand that many of you have spent your hard earned money on Chonkz since the SBL team took over and we’ve done our best to ensure that we had what was necessary moving forward. This isn’t a step we take lightly. Every single person that has supported this project since our takeover is more than appreciated and we will be back to build something for you. It just takes time and Chonkz will need a whole new plan moving forward if we are unable to secure those assets. It wasn’t fair to keep you all waiting for something that, at this point, we don’t feel will ever be delivered and to be transparent with the issues at hand.

With the acquisition of OACC into the umbrella they join Chonkz and Fury of the Fur as projects being cultivated by our experienced team. Each of the three projects has a different focus to the real world and helping to bridge the gap between web2 and web3 for users across a variety of demographics.

The agreement came about quickly after the unfortunate situation that happened with the previous developer. In the short time since SBL has taken over the OACC project we’ve managed to get the listing pages back under our control, royalties sent and a plan in place for transitioning the old contract if necessary. While we acquired the project nearly a week ago we are just making the announcement today after having ‘sorted the house’ as you might say with the previous issues. Now, we look forward to the future.

What’s Next for Holders?

Sneaky Bird Labs now holds the IP for Old Ape Country Club, including all the artwork from the planned second generation, here’s what we plan to do with it next for Holders.

Introducing first, the Pension Plan.

The Pension Plan is OACC’s version of a Founder’s Pass. This will be a unique NFT created solely for the purpose of furthering the speed at which the project reaches its goals. It is important to note that OACC is full funded through the SBL Roadmap and Pension Plan sales are not required for the project to move forward or survive. They simply help to speed things up and provide additional revenue into the Treasury to get there.

In addition to the Pension Plan we have also rolled out the Bananas Discord Currency system (similar in structure to FOTFs Honey system and Chonkz Shard system), a custom $2,500 Bond for OACC members through our partnership with ENCTR and cultivated a launch date for releasing the Pills. It is our goal to maintain the direction of the original roadmap from the previous team first, before integrating any of our own Roadmap for the project. This means that, after Pension Plans launch, we will be launching the Pills system and the mutations.

Web3 VR/AR Dementia Platform

The biggest thing that drew our team to the project, outside the fantastic community, was the ability to use Old Ape Country Club in a way that hasn’t been done in the space yet. No longer will it be simply an old man derivative of the BAYC project but instead will focus on those that are much more experienced in life. We plan to bring the Old Ape Country Club back to life as a primary NFT of exactly what they stand for, the older generation into web3.

Though not the first place we will start with this aspect it will all be leading to one primary goal for the end of 2023: an augmented reality or virtual reality platform for elderly suffering with dementia. We want to give them a place to relive their best memories, meet with loved ones and just generally hold on to any memories that may be slipping away.

We aim to do this by utilizing our team’s connections with storytellers. The aim is to bring out equipment to some of these folks and record their stories. Give them a place to tell their tale one more time and provide that to outside users while delivering the revenue to the story tellers. Additionally, we will have a full team dedicated to ‘world building’ for those areas that we are able to partner where we can provide someone suffering with, as we said, a world of their own to relive.

Though details are still being worked on and finalized in the back end we wanted to share this future plan as it heavily defines our vision for OACC and where you can expect to see a good portion of the projects IRL utility go to.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that there won’t be stuff for any demographic to do though as we have some really interesting plans regarding the story telling worlds as well.

The Fury of the Fur project was SBL’s first foray into the NFT space and we did so with no vision of expanding into other projects. However, through the success of FOTF and with the general downturn in the market many amazing projects are suffering, Sneaky Bird Labs see this as a perfect opportunity to create something truly amazing.

Chonkz is the first of those additional acquisitions by the Sneaky Bird Labs team. Chonkz is set up to be a game changing brand within the space just through the artwork and love that the first team put into it. As a founder, Austen has been amazing to work with and is fully supporting the transition. We’re honored to bring the Chonkz community into our ecosystem and shepherd them into the broader future that we’re building.

The agreement came about relatively organically as Chonkz was stuttering under the weight of being on one person’s shoulders and our team reached out to discuss what we could do to help. Through hours of conversations, it was decided the best foot forward would be to transition the entire project over to our team. Austen will remain working with our team on Podz and continue to be a part of the Chonkz future for as long as he’d like to be involved.

What Comes Next?

Sneaky Bird Labs now holds the IP for Chonkz, here’s what we’re planning to with it. The first step will be to integrate Chonkz into the already existing SBL ecosystem. This means applying the modularized aspects that we created within Fury of the Fur (such as the economy) to the project and revamping the social structure. We’re working diligently with our team and the Chonkz community, to ensure that Discord and Twitter both become a primary focus for the project. Sneaky Bird Labs believes community is the most important thing in NFT space and that will be our first area of focus.

Additionally SBL will be integrating Chonkz within the ENCTR ecosystem. This means, while we continue to build on Podz and create a v2 Roadmap, holders will have an opportunity to begin earning rewards. SBL will start by offering holders a $2,500 total bond that provides a 40% discount with a 30-day vesting period. This allows holders to start earning passive income for just holding their Chonkz and keeping faith in the team while we build.

Second, Sneaky Bird Labs will be immediately moving to create the Chonkz Community Board and Travel Packs. The Community Board will be a team of people that will make the decisions and execute on the community’s decisions for the project. We will integrate Chonkz into a remarkably similar DAO-like structure that we have with Fury of the Fur and is led by our own Community Board. Travel Packs will be what are referred to as Founder’s Passes within the NFT industry. Travel packs will allow all current holders that wish to participate in the growth of the project and the project’s treasury, a way to do so and have an NFT proving they were there through the transition. Travel Packs are still being worked on and will be announced soon. They will not be required for any utility or the success of the project.

Importantly, Sneaky Bird Labs has all the funding secured to move the project forward along our estimated timeline. Travel Packs will simply allow us to move that timeline up and add additional pieces. For Sneaky Bird Labs, it’s all about community.

We are building this Island of Misfit Projects (projects we see that have incredibly high potential or are grossly undervalued) where we plan to create multiple high-level brands that bridge the gap between web2 and web3. Chonkz will be no different. We have a complete plan of what we want to do and where we want the brand to go. Sneaky Bird Labs is excited to start building that with the community.
