Netflix will release updated reports every six months, the company said.</p><p>Netflix has long had a reputation for lack of transparency about the popularity of its shows and movies. This has led to some distrust in the creator community, co-CEO Ted Sarandos acknowledged during a conference call with reporters Tuesday. Netflix kept its viewership data private as it built its business so it could experiment while not giving away data to potential competitors, Sarandos said.</p><p>“This is the actual data that we use to run the business,” Sarandos said. “I’m the co-CEO of a public company, so sharing bad information has consequences.”</p><p>Netflix now has almost 250 million global subscribers, far outpacing any other streaming service. Back in October 2013, McCoy posted on a message board that he was interested in &quot;developing a system where contractually defined ownership tokens or messages could be embedded in blockchain transactions,&quot; and after the Seven on Seven conference, he founded Money Map. Around the same time, German startup Ascribe developed a mechanism to protect blockchain digital art and released a protocol, backend and application in 2014. The use of crypto tokens as a sales mechanism obscures its potential to become a premium, scalable authentication certificate. To ensure that NFT endures, this potential must be realized by providing greater utility to artists, museums, and serious collectors.</p><p>The potential of crypto tokens as advanced, expansive authentication credentials is overshadowed by their use as a sales mechanism.</p><p>The term &quot;NFT art&quot; is often used to describe digital fine art from memes and collectibles, giving the impression that such art uses a new medium. However, it obscures the fact that NFT is not inherently related to digital art. (It only applies to artists using blockchain and tokens as a medium, which represent a very small fraction of so-called NFT art.) NFTs reside on the blockchain, while the artworks authenticated by them usually do not.
