As many of you know, I have prided myself on being a truly independent artist and launching all of my NFT drops from my own website. Well, today I’m announcing that I have partnered with Sound.xyz for a NFT drop for my new song “The King’s Alpha,” the title track of my new album. You can hit this link if you just want the drop details, time/date/price/etc., but I’ll also explain here why I have chosen to take this step with Sound.

The growth of music NFT platforms has been impressive to watch over the past year-and-a-half since I dropped the “I’m Spottie” album. Music and tech writers and publishers look to platforms like Sound for a birds’ eye view of the music NFT landscape, so in many instances artists on those platforms get press looks that others don’t. Music NFT aggregator apps have also popped up, giving collectors the ability to easily listen to their NFT music on mobile devices, and those aggregators typically source their libraries from music NFT platforms like Sound. And I’d be lying if I said the sales numbers for Daniel Allan and Reo Cragun’s recent NFT album sale on Sound didn’t get my attention. After thinking a lot about all of these developments, I decided that I need to test and learn on some of the leading music NFT platforms, including Sound.xyz.

This song, “The King’s Alpha,” features an interlude by Snoop Dogg who is by far the top selling artist in Sound.xyz’s history. My hope is that by offering this NFT on Sound.xyz, I will introduce myself and my community to the 1176 unique collectors that own a Snoop Dogg NFT on Sound, as well as other Sound NFT collectors who might not know my story or my music.

Will there be a pre-sale for Spottie NFT and/or Snoop Dogg NFT holders?

Yes, the pre-sale will begin on Monday, February 6 at 5pm EST for anyone who owned a NFT from one of the following collections on January 31 when a snapshot was taken:

• I’m Spottie

• All Time High

• Full Set

• Snoop Dogg on Sound.xyz

Pre-sale will last 24 hours and offer reduced pricing of 0.08 ETH per NFT (open edition). The public sale will begin on Tuesday, February 7 at 5pm EST and the public price will be 0.1 ETH. Originally I was going to cap the supply at a very low number (100 or fewer) but decided at the last minute to make it an open edition so that anyone who wants one can have an opportunity to own one.

Did the snapshot for pre-sale access already happen?

Yes, the snapshot took place on January 31.

Will the NFT from Sound.xyz be on a shared smart contract or a custom smart contract that Spottie owns and controls?

The NFTs will be minted from a custom smart contract on Ethereum that I personally own and control, not a shared contract.

Wen utility?

I don’t have any specific utility plans that I am prepared to announce today. Please think of it as purely a collectible so that you will be pleasantly surprised if I do offer some utility in the future.

Will there still be five total free NFTs from the new album for “I’m Spottie” holders?

Yes, in addition to the “All Time High” and “Full Set” NFT drops, there will also be a free claim of the “Believers” NFT collection and two more free claims of songs from the new album coming soon for “I’m Spottie” holders. And you better believe the two remaining and unannounced free claims will be fire. Collect one of each of these five free drops in order to claim a free vinyl copy of the new album later this year.
