Last week we reached 100 sippys drawn,

this week we reached the 20th sippy on-chain.

In these last couple of weeks we've had some lovely moments together an It's crazy to think about how it hasn't even been a full month of sippys yet. Siptember really began at full force and it's been truly a blast to sip with you all. I’ve been honored to see so many legendary sippers joining in, so!! I wanted to write this update to get everyone on the same page and maybe recap some of our notable moments.

As some of you may already know, sippys started as an inside joke when my buddy joe from burritodao asked me to draw him as business frog. So like the silly lil sippy I am, I did. And after drawing him I continued to sippify more and more of my friends to the point where everyone on my timeline has become a sippy. Well, maybe not everyone, but definitely a good amount. The point being, this collection has slowly expanded from close friends to mutuals to new friends. It's been lovely to continue developing it, and I’m still striving to get more people sippin.

HOW DO I GET A SIPPY?

The way I’ve been describing sippys to people is, “free to sip, paid to authenticate.”

What do I mean by this?

Well, I continue to draw new sippys everyday. For free. I'm working through a big list of artists/collectors/friends and am constantly adding new people to it. If we haven't talked yet and you want a sippy drawn, I urge you to reach out to the new sippy twitter @sbsippys with a dm of a reference picture or description for what you’d like me to base your sippy on. In fact, everyone should follow + dm that new account :)! That way I can add you to the list and better organize myself with what I'll need to draw. I try to do at least 20 sippys a week so that we have consistent new additions to our lil sippyverse. This number may vary and be more or less, depending on my mental well being :)

(One thing is for sure tho! If a daily auction winner doesn’t have their sippy drawn yet, I will do it for them then! That is a guaranteed way to skip the line and get your sippys drawn immediately!)

SO HOW DO I GET MY PERSONAL SIPPY ON CHAIN?

This is where the “paid to authenticate” part of the last expression comes in.

Every day, I auction a question mark sippy starting at .05 eth. Whoever wins the auction, I update the metadata of the token to reflect their sippy. And like I said previously, if the winner doesn't have a sippy yet, they will get theirs drawn then. The sippys are structured in this way so that no one has to fight over owning their specific sippy, only for when they enter the sip chain. With one a day, it also gives me enough time to draw more sippys and grow the group appropriately as we slowly authenticate new sips. Links to current auctions will always be found in the @sbsippys twitter bio :)

THE SIPPY MISSION

This all started from a joke, I don't want it to become serious and corporate and lose its magic. I want it to continue to be a way I can highlight artists I admire, friends I love, and builders I respect. I want to help nourish the lovely side of this space one sip at a time. On an individual level, I look at each sip and see such a wonderful person that they represent. Then I look at the collage of 20s or 100s and I'm just blown away by how awesome we are as a group. I want that feeling to continue. I want the sips to sip.

THE WORLDWIDE SIPPY MEMESEUM

The first event and special sippy drop we did was a meme contest for the 10th spot on the sip chain! I felt like this was a fun moment for our group to joke around together and make some sippy memes, the contest had a bit over 15 submissions with some really wonderful memes in there. When the dust settled, Buzzy won the gold star and the meme entries were entered into our first virtual gallery space, “The Worldwide Sippy Memeseum.” Here we can look through our memes and remember this moment, all while inside a big sippy apple juice box.

To visit the WSM : https://oncyber.io/destinations/theworldwidesippymemeseum

SIPPYS FOR A CAUSE

As we hit 100 sippys drawn I felt there was a solid opportunity for us to come together and do some good as a group. As a result, an open edition piece that collaged the first 100 sippys together was made with the goal of raising funds to help Jackson Mississippi with their ongoing water crisis. The oe was made available for 1 week and cost .01 eth per edition. In the time up, 199 total editions were claimed and the sippys raised 2 eth towards the cause! 100% of the funds went to Cooperation Jackson, a local organization helping those directly affected by the crisis. On top of this, the 10% creator royalty on the contract is directed towards Cooperation Jackson in perpetuity, so that we can continue to donate thru royalties on the collection. The Sippys For a Cause collection will continue to grow every 100 sippys drawn, so that we can continue to help the world *sip*

To visit the Sippys For a Cause collection: https://opensea.io/collection/sippysforacause

CLOSING THOUGHTS ON APPLE JUICE

It's great!

But seriously, sippys was not something I could've planned, not something I could’ve expected, from the start it's been about connections, about the people behind the sippys. I want to continue on this sipventure keeping that in mind, and I hope that with each sippy added to the group we can celebrate a little bit extra. I appreciate everyone who's shown support through liking, sharing, acquiring their sippy on chain, and being all around awesome :) I will continue drawing sippys and thinking of how we can get involved in different hijinks. Thank you :) *sip*

Today, the first sippy goes on chain.

So let me share a bit on how we got here and where we’re going.

Just this week I was randomly requested to draw my buddy the business frog as a sippy, without giving it much thought I did as he asked and carried on with my day.

But something was different.

I had felt the power of a small quantity of juice and now I wasn't the same, I quickly returned to draw more of my buddies from BurritoDAO: The purple rat, lil goober, friendly ghost, mythical cloud… I couldn't stop sippifying the people I loved. And they couldn't stop sippin.

The following day I picked up where I left off and sippyfied more members of the DAO who had witnessed the power of a sip. Shortly after, some friends from Makingit247 caught wind of this apple juice adventure and requested to see themselves as sippys.

And so I sipped, but now with more sippys in the allegiance, WE sip.

Will I have to fight someone else over my own sippy?

Good question fellow sippy, allow me to walk you through this authenticated sip. Thinking of how I was going to structure this I didn't want anyone to have to fight over securing their own sippy. I think they’re way too personal to be disputed over and potentially going to a different owner. So, no, you will not.

How to sip on eth:

Every day there will be a new auction starting at .05 (kind of like nouns, but to sip is a verb, a way of life) the token will display a placeholder sippy and whoever wins the auction will have the metadata updated to display their sippy instead. If the winner does not have a sippy at the moment, they will have theirs drawn then.

Are there enough juice boxes for us all?

Another great question curious sippster. In short, yes. My goal is to draw as many sippys as I can and see the great people in this space sippin in full glory. I will continue drawing sippys and sharing them around as I've gotten plenty of requests to fulfill at this point. I will simply be slowly distributing them on chain to those who can't wait any longer to finally sip on eth.

There’s a chance to be the first sippy on chain today, and I'm curious as to who it’ll be

I urge my sippy friends to not overextend in these auctions, they will be happening everyday and you may be able to catch a more accessible entry point to the chain. Just stay patient, and stay sippin.

To those that choose to battle: May the sips be in your favor.
