Super Accounts v1.3

Less than a year after launch, Super Accounts has surpassed 125,000 accounts, 850,000 badges, and over $300,000 in vault deposits — becoming one of the most active participation layers across the Superchain. With version v1.3, the platform introduces a refreshed experience built around four key upgrades: Campaigns, a redesigned Badges interface, a new Self Verification badge powered by Self Protocol, and an enhanced daily leaderboard. These updates make it easier to track meaningful contributions, join ecosystem-wide initiatives, and earn rewards for onchain activity.

The new Campaigns tab introduces a dedicated hub where users can join collective programs and earn points and OP rewards through onchain participation. The first live campaign, Superchain Eco Season 8, runs until December 17 and distributes 10,000 OP among active users based on their Superchain points. Meanwhile, the overhauled Badges Page gives users a clearer view of achievements, with detailed progress tracking, filters by chain or campaign, and insights into how their progress compares across the ecosystem. The Self Verification badge adds a privacy-preserving way to verify your identity and strengthen the reputation layer across the Superchain, while the daily leaderboard now updates in real time, allowing users to track performance and climb the ranks every day. Uniswap UNIfication Proposal

Uniswap Labs and the Uniswap Foundation proposed UNIfication, a joint plan to turn on protocol fees and route them to a programmatic UNI burn while refocusing Labs on protocol growth. Fees would start on v2 and a set of high-volume v3 pools on Ethereum, with governance able to extend to L2s, other L1s, v4, UniswapX, PFDA, and aggregator hooks. v2 would shift from 0.3% LP fees to 0.25% for LPs plus 0.05% for the protocol. v3 pools would set protocol fees as a fraction of LP fees by tier. A retroactive burn of 100 million UNI from the treasury anchors the new model, alongside the TokenJar and Firepit contracts that collect fees and release them only when UNI is burned. Labs would set interface, wallet, and API fees to zero, consolidate ecosystem functions with the Foundation, and use a proposed 20 million UNI annual growth budget to drive liquidity, volume, integrations, and developer adoption.

Unichain is central to the plan. All Unichain sequencer fees, after L1 data costs and the 15% share to the Optimism Collective, would flow into the UNI burn mechanism. Uniswap v4 on Unichain becomes a strategic venue, with aggregator hooks that tap external liquidity and contribute to burns, plus a proposal to migrate the historic Unisocks v1 position to v4 on Unichain and burn the LP tokens to lock supply forever. Together, fee activation, MEV internalization via Protocol Fee Discount Auctions, Unichain’s role as a low-cost liquidity hub, and a unified Labs-focused growth mandate aim to position Uniswap as the default exchange for tokenized value while directly tying protocol usage to UNI scarcity. Soneium Startale App

Startale Group has announced Startale App, a new super-app built for the Soneium ecosystem and powered by the Optimism Superchain. Designed to make the open internet more accessible, it unifies wallets, assets, and apps into a single, seamless experience. Users can create a wallet in seconds using just an email, with Account Abstraction removing the need for seed phrases or constant gas confirmations — making onchain interactions as simple and secure as possible.

For builders, Startale App introduces Mini Apps, allowing teams to create directly on Soneium without managing separate sites or complex integrations. With support from the Ethereum community, it’s setting the stage for games, social platforms, and new digital experiences that exist entirely onchain. Utila Brings Institutional Stablecoin Yield to OP Mainnet

Through Utila’s enterprise MPC wallet infrastructure, institutions can now earn yield on USDC with the same governance, security, and compliance controls they use in traditional finance. This integration removes the trade-off between operational safety and onchain returns, allowing companies to manage deposits, withdrawals, and yield generation directly within their Utila workspace. The solution leverages Morpho’s decentralized lending infrastructure, Gauntlet’s institutional risk management, and Yield.xyz’s API integration to deliver a seamless and compliant yield experience. Optimism Collective Launches Liquid Staking RFP

The Optimism Budget Board has opened a new Request for Proposals for liquid staking of the Collective’s 21.5K ETH treasury. For the first time, the Collective is putting its ETH to work directly on OP Mainnet, turning idle assets into productive capital that strengthens the Superchain economy. Of the total, 5.4K ETH will remain in reserves, 9.6K ETH will go toward institutional staking on Ethereum Mainnet, and 6.4K ETH will be allocated to liquid staking protocols on OP Mainnet.

Ink Launches Tydro: Aave-Powered Lending Protocol Backed by Kraken

Ink, the Ethereum Layer 2 incubated by Kraken, has launched Tydro, a white-label version of Aave v3 designed to power decentralized borrowing and lending on the network. The new protocol introduces an INK-based incentive structure, rewarding early adopters with points tied to a future airdrop. State of the Superchain H1 2025

The Optimism Superchain now spans 34 OP Chains, driving more than 50% of all L2 activity and over 10% of all crypto activity. Year to date, apps generated $396.5M in revenue while the Optimism Collective captured $8.3M through revenue sharing. Base is the workhorse, leading in TVL at $3.41B for 65.9% of Superchain liquidity, handling 55.9% of total computation at 28.3M gas per second, and processing 1.57B of 2.47B total transactions in H1. SuperStacks incentives ran from April 16 to June 30 and lifted Superchain TVL 54% from $3.36B to $5.17B. On the DEX front, Aerodrome averaged $580.5M in daily spot volume versus Uniswap’s $406.1M, while Celo completed its move to L2 and World, Soneium, Ink, and Unichain added momentum.

DeFi is thickening. Morpho surged to $1.74B TVL, up 246.9% year to date, and finished H1 with $567.2M in active loans, overtaking Aave and Moonwell. Chain GDP remains concentrated, with Uniswap, Aerodrome, and Circle contributing 86.9% of Superchain application revenue. The App Revenue Capture Ratio sat at 8.2x, a sign that low fees and strong monetization can coexist. Optimism Season 8 Grants are now open

Season 8 of Optimism Grants is live with 6.29M OP available for builders on the Superchain. This round is focused on growing TVL and AOP in the Interop Set and increasing the share of fees from Superchain applications. Projects that contribute to these goals are encouraged to apply.

This season also introduces an AI evaluator built into the application process. Each proposal is scored against governance intents, Superchain alignment, distribution design, and OP ratios. Silent Data Joins the Superchain

Silent Data has joined the Superchain as the first privacy-focused Layer 2 built on the OP Stack. Optimism Invites Ronin to build on the OP Stack

Optimism has invited Ronin Network to build its Layer 2 on the OP Stack, with support from EigenLayer, Boundless Foundation, and Conduit. SuperStacks pulled in $58M of net TVL inflows during its 76-day run, with $53.7M still sitting in pools a month after incentives ended. That works out to $23.2 per OP during the program and $21.5 per OP retained after costs. The data suggests lending pools kept liquidity more effectively than DEXs, though overlapping campaigns like Uniswap’s Gauntlet incentives made attribution tricky.

Orderly Improvement Proposal 1

Orderly has put forward its very first governance proposal, OIP-1, which looks to balance staking rewards with long-term value capture through ORDER buybacks. The core idea is simple: redirect up to 60% of net protocol fees toward recurring buybacks of ORDER while still preserving staking utility and VALOR rights.

Here’s how it works: half of the bought-back ORDER goes to stakers (paid in esORDER with a 3-month vesting period), and the other half flows into a community-governed wallet, with the initial plan being to burn those tokens to reduce supply. The goal of OIP-1 is to make staking meaningful, preserve community rights, and introduce a sustainable, transparent buyback system that ties protocol growth directly to token value. Coinbase Brings Millions of Onchain Assets to One App

Coinbase is rolling out DEX trading directly inside its app, giving users access to millions of onchain assets within moments of their creation. Starting with Base-native tokens from projects like Virtuals AI Agents, Reserve Protocol DTFs, SoSo Value Indices, Auki Labs, and Super Champs, the feature lets traders buy and sell without waiting for centralized listings. All trades are powered by an integrated self-custody wallet, with Coinbase sponsoring network fees and providing a familiar interface to simplify the DEX experience.

This launch expands Coinbase’s reach beyond its centralized exchange by tapping into the fast-moving onchain markets, starting with Base and planning support for more networks like Solana. LiskDAO Season 2

Lisk DAO Season 2 is now live and will run until December 17th. Building on the momentum from Season 1, this season scales builder support, ecosystem incentives, and deepens alignment with Superchain goals under the theme “Collaborations that drive real-world development.”

With a total budget of 3.925M LSK, over 95% of funds are going directly to developers, dApps, and ecosystem programs. Season 2 is guided by the Lisk DAO Grants Council and Steering Committee, focusing on four key intents: funding builders to grow TVL, driving onchain activity, contributing to the Superchain, and making Lisk governance more accessible and rewarding. BOB Strategic Raise

BOB has raised $9.5 million in a strategic funding round, bringing its total raised to $21 million. Backed by Castle Island Ventures, Ledger Cathay Capital, RockawayX, Amber Group, Sats Ventures, and others, this funding will accelerate the development of BOB’s hybrid chain, which combines Bitcoin’s security with Ethereum’s DeFi innovation to unlock new use cases and tap into trillions in potential liquidity.

With recent launches including native Bitcoin DeFi on testnet, BTC-secured bridges, and becoming the first hybrid ZK rollup, BOB is positioning itself as the easiest and safest place to earn with Bitcoin. Celo Ice Cream Hardfork

Celo is gearing up for its next major network upgrade, the Ice Cream Hardfork, which will roll out EigenDA v2 (“Blazar”) across all Celo testnets and mainnet. This upgrade will enhance the network’s data availability layer, delivering faster confirmation times, improved stability, and greater scalability.

Ethereum celebrated its 10th birthday on July 30, 2025, marking 10 years of continuous operation, 16 major upgrades, and its evolution into a global trust layer powering NFTs, DeFi, and decentralized identity. Mint Airdrop Period Ended

Blockchains enable trust and transparency without a central authority, forming the backbone of a new digital onchain economy. Onchain organizations, most notably Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs), utilize this infrastructure to manage resources and achieve their goals in a peer-to-peer setting.

Over the past five years, DAOs have grown significantly in size, capacity, and complexity. Over 3,3 million addresses actively vote and participate in onchain organizations, with nearly USD 35 billion in assets controlled by DAO treasuries (source DeepDAO).

While DAOs have significant potential, this new form of coordination faces many challenges related to governance and operations. To reduce their complexity, DAOs often start as simple, centralized organizations and grow to become more resilient and decentralized over time, a process referred to as progressive decentralization.

This report aims to contribute to developing and adopting functional governance frameworks that increase DAO's operating capacity and allow them to grow and decentralize over time.

It draws lessons from nearly 40 DAO failures from their inception in 2016 until 2024 to identify patterns that negatively influence survivability and effectiveness. In the second half, the insights are used to provide actionable insights to improve the Governance of the Optimism Collective.

We are particularly grateful to Optimism Grants for approving our Mission Request grant, which made this research possible. We also thank everyone who provided input for this report through in-person conversations and written contributions.

Overview of DAO Failures

Our team analyzed 37 DAO failures between 2016 and 2024 to identify key failure patterns. The data was collected through stakeholder conversations and desk research. The DAO Failure Dashboard is openly accessible and provides an overview of our data.

We differentiate between DAOs that are currently still operating (Active), have minimized their operations (Dormant), or have ceased to operate entirely (Ended). The DAO's current status is used as a proxy for the severity and impact of a failure.We mapped each DAO's primary category, such as DeFi protocol or L1 blockchain, Network, voting tool, and structure used, and the primary and secondary failures identified.

A sizable exploit resulting from a hack or bug is another common reason a DAO ends, with nearly 44% of catastrophic DAO failures resulting from an exploit. This data further suggests that product fit and security are the most critical responsibilities of a DAO. The existence of liquid governance tokens could be one of the reasons for the high failure rate as a result of exploits, as the hacks often include the protocol native token, which creates significant sales pressure on the project. The reduction in token price often severely impacts the operating capital of these DAOs, as most DAO treasuries are centralized around their native token.

Failing to find a product market fit is noticeably second, with 37,5% of critical failures associated with a DAOs inability to find market fit. In some cases, DAOs may be created to serve a specific purpose at a particular point, such as aiming to acquire specific assets or testing a specific thesis. When such DAOs fail to accomplish their primary objective within a reasonable timeframe, there often is little to no reason to continue operations. This dynamic represents the market forces of the onchain economy, with capital formation and talent moving around at the speed of the internet. These forces make it relatively easy to attract initial commitments but increasingly complex to retain attention and talent.

While governance and onchain voting are often at the forefront of DAOs and their operations, the data suggest that lawsuits and leadership scandals are more likely to result in a DAOs collapse. This suggests that “good governance” is most important at the leadership level of DAOs and indicates that having the right people involved and committed to the DAOs' objectives is one of the key areas on which DAOs' governance should focus. This dynamic is much more akin to the governance process of a country - which often centers around election and representation as opposed to direct democracy on the legislative level - than usually imagined when thinking of DAOs as a means to have all stakeholders participate in Governance.

When including the secondary failures, the frequency of stakeholder dissallignment and concentration of power significantly increases from 3% to 13% each. When analyzing the individual cases further, the data suggest that Voter Apathy often leads to concentration of power, which cripples the overall governance of an organization. Also, the Lack of PMV and Stakeholder dissallignment frequently go hand in hand. Often, DAOs lack the mechanisms and rigor to properly align on and commit to a specific strategy that is worth executing. The lack of a long-term horizon and structures that prefer many small independent initiatives over large strategic plans often results in an environment where objectives and information flows vary widely across the DAO, significantly limiting their capacity to progress. However, the opposite can also be true - as DAOs often operate online transparently, creating the ability to document and make all organization processes and data available. The introduction of strong data pipelines leveraging information management solutions and AI agents to organize further and operationalize the insights has the potential to accelerate DAOs capacity to make the right decisions.

The current dataset and research scope provide limited insights into the influence of different voting structures and governance tools on the capacity of DAOs to make the right decisions, as nearly all DAOs follow the same native governance token structure and comparable tools (Snapshot or Tally). Future research can focus more profoundly on the patterns that increase the likelihood of a specific failure state occurring and provide insights into how to resolve them.

Aligning the best strategies to realize product development is essential. It ensures that resources are spent cohesively and success is measured similarly.

#3 It is essential to select the right operators and keep the ability to withdraw their power.

Attracting suitable talent is key to realizing a DAOs vision. DAOs should aim to incentivize contributors and adequately create processes for removing some or all of a contributor's power when they no longer play a meaningful role in the DAOs course.

#4 Proper data pipelines and information management solutions are key to increasing decision-making capacity over time.

They provide DAOs with a collective intelligence that can be leveraged to make the right decisions, especially when paired with AI agents that can synthesize large data sets.

Progressing the Optimism Collective toward functional decentralization

One of the largest and most influential DAOs is the Optimism Collective, a collective of communities, companies, and individuals that aim to scale Ethereum and build a better internet. It governs the Superchain, a network of interdependent chains built on shared standards and values using the OP stack, and funds developments with the OP token.

This analysis aims to strengthen the Optimism Collective by cross-referencing Insights and learnings from recurring DAO failure with the Optimism Working Models for Decentralization to identify vulnerability and actionable recommendations for future improvements.

The key domains identified and visualized in the Decision Diagram Working Model help focus this analysis, and the reasoning of the Decision Design Framework increases the insights' adaptability and implementation.

Review of the Collective’s path toward decentralization

Before evaluating the key domains, we review the overall Optimism Working Models for Decentralization based on the key takeaways of the DAO failures study.

The value generated by DAOs offerings should be the main focus.

Optimism has a clear and detailed roadmap for product development and decentralization, which increases security over time through standardization. This is key in addressing the large thread created by exploits and contributes to its product-market fit.

One limitation is the lack of baked-in product adoption guidelines and clarity on how the product produces and captures value. While DAOs are often compared to nation-states, the reality is that the governance of technology ecosystems is highly dependent on their adoption rate. As such, key organizational north stars should be tied directly into each of the layers of decentralization to set clear expectations of the results each layer optimizes for. This allows for better identification and review of the layer’s parameters.On the protocol layer, adoption numbers, such as the Superchain % of Major Crypto Txns from the Superchain Health Dashboard, could be utilized. On the economic layer, the Monthly Est. Collective Revenue could be compared to monthly spending to visualize P&L over time and simulate potential trajectories toward self-sustainability.

Setting the right top-level strategy is the most critical decision for a DAO to make

The Working Constitution, Superchain Product Vision, and Optimism Season intents provide guidelines on the overall vision and priorities for the Optimism Collective. However, they don’t clarify the best strategies to accomplish these objectives. The current Mission request-driven grant allocation framework allows for the submission of stand-alone missions, which in the past led to unwanted overlap and unallocated missions. The complexity of deciding the proper mission is multivariate, as their effectiveness is interdependent and influenced by many factors, including available talent and urgency. Determining and assigning Missions requires high expertise and increased degrees of ownership. We propose to operate Missions in a manner that closely resembles how Government ministries function, with key civil servants with leadership and professional analytic experience owning a cluster of Missions that optimize for a specific domain. These Mission clusters could contain a degree of pre-assigned contributors to guarantee the ability to execute certain core responsibilities within a specific budget and timeline while opening up missions as tenders. The Cluster leads are responsible for the execution and tracking of their missions and communication toward the overall Optimism Collective. An extreme example of an execution cluster is the OpCo in ArbitrumDAO, a new entity formed to execute ArbitrumDAO’s strategy, which is projected to be funded with 22M ARB for 30 months.Another limitation is the short duration of Season and Grant Cycles, as most initiatives take weeks or months to be assigned. By the time the projects are completed and results become measurable, the goalpost has already shifted, and the focus has moved to the next Season. It is key to have some consistency in objectives and strategies across seasons. A way to resolve this could be to introduce objectives or intents across multiple Seasons, which is parity done by the Working Models for Decentralization. Alternatively, the duration of a Season can be extended, or various Seasons can be merged into a larger frame, such as an “Era”, which could consist of 3 to 4 seasons.

It is essential to select the right operators and keep the ability to withdraw their power.

The bicameral governance model designed by the Optimism Collective separates purely token-based voting from a form of elected representation. The Citizen structure provides a path toward withdrawing one’s power; however, this function seems underdeveloped.The Citizen House and the Token House have little re-election taking place, resulting in stakeholders with no or limited active commitment remaining influential at the expense of attracting new committed contributors - often against their own will. A time-bound redelegation function, where tokens should be redelegated every x season, should be introduced to increase the effectiveness of the Token House. Citizens should be elected to provide perspective on domains they have context on - instead of randomly assigned to clusters and elected through private processes. Separating between “regular” citizens who offer input from a board perspective and “expert” citizens with high expertise in a specific subdomain can be a solution. The election of regular citizens should be straightforward and take place through public mechanisms, for expert review should be based on publicly verifiable experience and contributions. Onchain activity should play a role in assigning citizen roles, as one of the key innovations of Blockchain is the fact that users can be owners, which goes beyond token ownership with the concept of Citizens.

Proper data pipelines and information management solutions are key to increasing decision-making capacity over time.

It’s currently time-consuming to understand and remain up to date with the Optimism Collective. Many resources are spread across different locations, with many key pieces living solely on the Optimism Forum. New tools like Governance Hubs that organize key resources should exist. In addition, reports should be generated at the end of each Season to revise developments and showcase progress. By creating solid data pipelines on all layers, Optimism Collective members can navigate decisions with the help of AI agents that can process large amounts of data efficiently.

Overall, the Working Model for Decentralization is well in line with the key suggestions from the DAO Failures study and, with some modifications, can become the best model for progressive decentralization.

Review of Key Domains

We prioritize our efforts based on the potential impact, likelihood of happening, and relevance of the topic to the current state of OP Governance.

North-star and priority setting from the Decision Diagram

The current working models for further decentralization provide an initial roadmap; however, the public discourse and communication around it have been minimal. A clear example of this is the publication of the Superchain Product Vision, which paints a two-year product vision but fails to reply to any of the follow-up and clarification questions asked by members of the Token and Citizen House.

The DAO Failures studies showed that governance models with multiple substantial stakeholders are more rigorous and active than a governance system where a small group (often the core team) directs most decisions.As such, Governance must be included in elements of the North Star and priority setting to improve the content of the working model and increase the buy-in of the larger Optimism Collective. The Optimism Foundation must engage more with stakeholders using public channels such as the Optimism Forum and respond to feedback, especially from Optimism Governance members.The suggestion is for the Optimism Foundation and key ecosystem stakeholders to compile measurable targets that meaningfully progress Optimism's mission and make it more concrete. Governance should be involved in approving any large north-star setting efforts.

In addition, the priorities identified in the working models for decentralization should go into a formal input and review phase, after which governance should vote on ratifying the collective priorities and roadmaps. A process should be implemented where priorities are reviewed at a fixed cadence, and Governance can propose modifications.

Citizens, given their expertise, should be deeply involved in scoping targets and priorities, while the Token house should be the primary approval to ensure Token holders.

Once in place, all Optimism Collective-funded initiatives must be linked to the agreed targets and priorities to receive funding.

Collective spending and budgeting from the Decision Diagram

Many DAOs fail due to poor financial management, which combines ineffective budgeting and treasury control. Creating clear targets and priorities, as described above, can help increase the efficiency of overall spending; however, additional measures should be taken.

The Token House should approve the proposed budget sizes for each Season, as these allocations directly influence the number of OP tokens hitting the market. The budgets should clearly articulate their relationship to past initiatives and alignment with the targets and priorities.

A report should be published at a fixed cadence, initially at the end of each Season, that allows Optimism Governance to evaluate the budget's efficiency. This report will help the Collective craft more effective budgets over time and increase accountability.

Having a large majority of a DAOs treasury in its native token has proven risky, as it intensifies the impact of adverse market movements on the organization's capacity to coordinate. The suggestion is to diversify a share of the Optimism Collective. Many options exist for how to diversify, such as the conversion of OP to stables through a sale using decentralized mechanisms or for one of the Optimism Collective affiliated entities to organize a direct purchase of OP tokens to decrease the changes of the purchased OP tokens to create sales pressure on the token.

Alternatively, the Optimism Collective can develop mechanisms to increase ownership of Superchain-native tokens, such as OP Chain tokens. Token acquisition can occur through revenue-based contributions or direct token swaps with key ecosystem players.

Voter selection from Decision Diagram

The question of who should become a collective delegate or citizen is critical as voter selection processes result in low participation and a concentration of power among a small group of stakeholders. Optimism Collective should continue to create inclusive and well-structured voter selection systems that encourage active participation and align governance decisions with the collective goals of their communities.

Besides the potential benefits of time-bound redelegation for the Token House, the separation of regular and expert citizens, and the inclusion of onchain metrics in representative selection described previously in this report, transparency should be highlighted.

Opaque systems, where it’s unclear who makes the decision and based on what they make, negatively influence the system's overall functioning. The proposed method is to work back from desired outcomes in line with the overall optimism strategy to estimate the right type and function of governance participants. From there, precise evaluation and election processes can be published and operated. This is especially relevant for the (re) election of Citizens, as they play a key role in the Optimism Collective.

With most OP tokens still unallocated, with just over 1,35B out of 4,3B OP Token in circulation (31%), a key method for increasing the Token House quality and resilience is increasing the share of new OP tokens entering circulation that are delegated and used to govern over time. Various methods exist to accomplish this, but initial pilots could focus on adding conditional bonuses in OP to airdrop and governance fund reward participants who continue to engage meaningfully with the Optimism Collective over given periods, comparable to equity incentives in startups.

Final thoughts for Season 7

With Season 7 entirely dedicated to Interoperability, ensuring all layers of the Optimism Collective make meaningful progress on this front is crucial. The protocol layer developments are well-resourced and progressing quickly; however, the social and economic layers lag behind.

Without social-economic coercion, the vision of a unified Superchain can not be realized.

It’s essential to identify the current and desired states of the social and economic layers and take significant steps forward. However, we believe the resources dedicated to and earmarked for social-economic coercion are insufficient. As such, some of the progress on the social and economic layers will depend on the collective ability and willingness of all stakeholders to unify.

Butter CFM for Unichain grants

Butter’s Conditional Funding Markets are now live, kicking off a new way to allocate grant funding through prediction markets. In partnership with the Uniswap Foundation, forecasters can now deposit USDC and predict which of four lending protocols—Compound, Euler, Morpho, or Venus—will generate the most TVL on Unichain. The protocol with the top forecasted TVL by July 11 will earn a $100,000 grant, with more funding rounds and rewards to follow in August.

This marks the first time Butter’s futarchy mechanism is being applied in the Uniswap ecosystem, following a similar experiment with Optimism Governance earlier this year. Forecasters are rewarded based on accuracy when the market resolves on August 10, and all participants are encouraged to review public plans from each protocol before making their bets. World Chain and Succinct Prove ZK at Scale

Succinct and World Foundation successfully ran a week-long experiment proving every transaction on World Chain’s mainnet using OP Succinct. This marked a major milestone in bringing validity proofs to one of the largest OP Stack rollups. With over 8 MGas/s in June and 5 million monthly active users, World Chain is scaling fast, especially in emerging markets. The experiment demonstrated fast finality, stronger decentralization, and low-cost zk proofs powered by the Succinct Prover Network.

By deploying a parallel bridge with SP1 and Kona, Succinct delivered uninterrupted proofs for 7 days using over 800 GPUs. This effort slashed costs to $0.0102 per transaction and helped stress test open-source infra like Optimism’s Kona, contributing upstream fixes. The collaboration proves that ZK is now production-ready for high-throughput rollups. Read more here.

Vertex joins Ink

Vertex Protocol is officially joining the Ink Foundation to build a new generation of DeFi primitives on Ink Layer 2. As part of the move, Vertex will sunset its current deployments and launch a new DEX exclusively on Ink. The VRTX token will be retired, with 1% of the upcoming INK supply allocated to VRTX holders via airdrop. A snapshot was taken on July 8, excluding treasury and non-vested tokens.

The new platform will integrate Vertex’s trading engine, perpetuals, and money markets into Ink’s ecosystem. The deal was facilitated by Acquire.Fi, with legal counsel from Carey Olsen and Willkie Farr. Read more here.

Optimism Gov Budget Board Proposal

The draft Season 8 budget proposes allocating 9.18 million OP across two missions—Grants Council and Developer Advisory Board—a 13 percent reduction from the previous seasonal average. The Budget Board aims to extend the Governance Fund’s runway while aligning spend with a high-priority milestone: launching Superchain interoperability. Grants Council would receive 7.98M OP, while the Developer Advisory Board is set to get 1.2M OP, reflecting both strategic urgency and increased cost expectations tied to interop and audit demands.

The methodology starts from a 10-year fund runway and uses past benchmarks and weighted scoring to scale mission budgets based on importance, ROI confidence, and funding intensity. Despite the overall decrease, both missions are recommended for above-baseline allocations, given their potential to accelerate interoperable TVL and improve developer infrastructure. Moonwell Superchain Interop Partner

Moonwell is a day one partner for Superchain Interop, delivering a unified lending experience across OP Mainnet, Base and more. Instead of managing isolated deployments on each network, Moonwell now runs the same contracts across chains. This gives users one interface, shared governance and a consistent security model audited by Halborn and Code4rena.

With Superchain Interop, Moonwell becomes the first money market to offer true crosschain consistency. Users can access liquidity, collateral and lending positions across chains without friction. Base Brand Update

Lisk HodlerDrop 2.0

Lisk HodlerDrop 2.0 is now live. This community-approved initiative unlocks 1.375 million LSK for eligible users who participated in the original HodlerDrop during the Lisk migration.

For every LSK claimed in the initial drop, users can now claim up to 0.846 additional LSK. The claim period will run for 180 days, after which any unclaimed tokens will be transferred to the Lisk Ecosystem Fund. Claims can only be made through the official Lisk Portal here.

Mint Building the NFT Chain

Mint is building the first Superchain Layer 2 designed specifically for NFTs. Built on the OP Stack, it brings together deep customization for NFT applications with the shared liquidity and interoperability of the Superchain. From collectibles and RWAs to social assets and onchain gaming, Mint gives developers a focused environment to build and scale NFT-driven experiences.

With over 100 applications already live, Mint is expanding what NFTs can do. Optimism Experiments with Council Selection

Optimism is introducing a new approach for selecting members of the Milestones and Metrics (M&M) Council in Seasons 8 and 9. Traditionally, council members were elected, but this experiment shifts to a non-political selection process focused on competencies. The goal is to assess whether this method can effectively appoint qualified individuals for non-political roles within the Collective.

Eligible candidates must meet at least two of the following criteria: prior service on the M&M Council, completion of a relevant analytical Foundation Mission, holding a governance role in Season 6 or 7, being a community contributor above the wannabe level, or completing an operational security training provided by Opsek. Once the selection criteria are ratified by the Token House, eligible individuals can submit an M&M Charter and run for the Lead position during Voting Cycle #39a. The remaining council members will be randomly selected from the pool of eligible candidates who opt-in, using a stratified sampling approach. This process aims to prioritize expertise and experience over political means in council selection. Read all about it here.

What is SuperStacks?

SuperStacks is an experimental pilot campaign designed to show how the Superchain can create a more connected onchain experience. This is Optimism’s first GTM experiment in Superchain-wide incentives; a live test of how to reward interoperable behavior across chains, focusing on usage, liquidity, and long-term contribution.

Instead of siloed rewards tied to a single app or chain, SuperStacks promotes a unified experience across OP Mainnet, Ink, Unichain, Soneium, Base, and World Chain, with more to come.

By depositing into eligible pools, you earn the basic yield plus SuperStacks XP,  a new way to track your impact and contribution across the Superchain. Per $ deposited, you earn 10 XP per day, and each pool has its own multiplier to boost your XP rewards even further. XP reflects your onchain activity and may unlock future benefits across the Superchain economy.

We released Super Accounts v1.2, adding Campaigns, Vaults, and new Season 7 badges. Campaigns like SuperStacks and Lisk Surge now appear in-app, with boosts for users who hold qualifying badges. Vaults let you earn passive yield on USDC, USDT, or WETH directly through your Super Account via Compound on OP Mainnet.

World Foundation Raises $135M

World has raised $135 million from Andreessen Horowitz and Bain Capital Crypto to accelerate the expansion of its Orb-verified World ID network. The capital was secured through the sale of WLD tokens at market prices and marks a major step toward scaling human verification infrastructure globally. With over 26 million users and more than 12.5 million Orb-verified IDs across 160+ countries, the World network is growing rapidly—especially as AI advances demand more robust tools for distinguishing humans from machines.

The new funding will support World’s efforts to meet rising demand in the U.S. and other regions, while also advancing its vision of becoming one of the first self-sustaining verification protocols through mechanisms like protocol fees. Additional backers include Selini Capital, Mirana Ventures, and Arctic Digital. Swellchain joins Radius Alpha Engine

Swellchain has joined Radius' Alpha Engine to launch as a restaked rollup with sustainable MEV capture built in. Through Secure Block Building (SBB), Swellchain captures backrunning MEV sending the value directly to restakers instead of extractive actors. This strengthens its Proof of Restake (PoR) model, where users restake liquid assets to secure the chain and earn native yield.

Built on the OP Stack and launched with AltLayer, Swellchain is part of the Superchain and benefits from full Rollup-Boost compatibility. Alpha Engine adds MEV revenue via Radius, shared security via Symbiotic, and cross-rollup interoperability with Avail  creating a modular growth path for Swellchain and reinforcing Ethereum-aligned design.
