LayerZero is a platform that enables Altitude to achieve its long-term goals by relaying messages between a growing number of L1 and L2 blockchains, making it a versatile and interoperable platform in the Web3 space. This article is an informational piece that introduces Altitude and explores how it is revolutionizing the way blockchains communicate cross-chain.

Altitude is one of the first dApps built on LayerZero, positioning itself as a frontrunner in secure bridging for all DeFi users. With the increasing need for a fast and secure bridging solution due to the vulnerabilities and inefficiencies of existing bridging solutions, Altitude provides a sustainable and secure bridging solution where users can confidently transfer assets between chains to spread their risks.

Altitude's cross-chain bridge provides a guarantee that funds on the source chain are committed when a transaction is successfully processed on the destination chain. This is different from Instant Guaranteed finality, which guarantees the funds on the destination chain once the transaction is successfully committed on the source chain. In addition, Altitude enhances security through the use of Chain Paths, which are connections for a single asset between two different blockchains. These Chain Paths establish a reference for all possible connections made up of assets executing on both the source and target chains, with each path being unique.

Altitude utilizes separate liquidity pools for each chain path, rendering each chain path independent of the others, making the entire system resilient to chain outages. To bridge between two chains, of which neither is the HUB, users can always route through the HUB to reach their desired destination chain. This helps to enhance security and stability.

Altitude focuses on blue-chip assets because with the increase of retail users in the DeFi space, the team at Altitude has recognized a need for a secure, inexpensive, and fast bridging solution. As most bridges require users to lock and mint assets, LayerZero's relaying messages between different blockchains enables Altitude to transfer blue-chip assets cross-chain with secured guaranteed finality.

Following the rapid expansion of LayerZero, Altitude will support the following networks upon launch and can add additional LayerZero compatible networks in the future. These networks include Ethereum, Avalanche, BNB Chain, Polygon, Fantom, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Metis.

In conclusion, Altitude provides a new bridge that looks into protecting user assets, incentivizing decentralized liquidity, and providing a scalable solution for a growing Web3 ecosystem. By using LayerZero as a platform to enable cross-chain communication, Altitude enhances security and stability through the use of Chain Paths and separate liquidity pools for each chain path. This ensures that the entire system is resilient to chain outages, making Altitude a frontrunner in secure bridging for all DeFi users.
