We want to accelerate Curve’s recovery from the bear and its grand rising. We want that for all of DeFi. The end state we all work for is to reinvent the rails from which the world’s liquidity moves. It’s here and obvious to us. The task is to build, innovate, own, and do everything we can to help reach this inevitability sooner.

And we have plans. And now we can accelerate those, too.

We are proud to announce that the LLamas core has received a grant from the Curve Grants Council. These funds have allowed us to invest, hire and rapidly accelerate our plans to build a pipeline of products that will be released this year.

In the big picture, the goal of everything we’re building is to become a kind of conduit between Curve, other DeFi protocols, and funding sources — a layer of talent, energy, community, and reputation that compounds the talent around in Curve’s ecosystem.

More concretely, this means launching products that help the ecosystem mature and reach escape velocity.

The next months will see a slate of product launches from The LLamas team. These efforts are designed to benefit our holders and community members. We’re developing multiple new revenue streams for our shared treasury, co-owned by each and every holder of a LLama. At the same time, we’re working on integrations and opportunities that make the NFT a must-hold asset.

The collectibles are already unique in crypto, fusing art and community with DeFi. These are pictures of llamas that generate yield. That’s new. But by the end of this year, a LLamas NFT could also help get you a job. Or it could get you into a seed / venture round for a budding crypto project. Or access to exclusive farms and drops. Ideally, all of the above.

In this post, we wanted to give a brief overview of what’s coming. We hope you are as excited as we are.

POWERED BY LLAMAS: MAKEIT.GM

As we put it recently in our 2023 wrap-up, “Crypto is a tribal culture with a talent problem.” Our mission is to fix this, as best we can, starting from a position of strength within the Curve community and branching outwards. We exist to nurture and reward talented contributors. We on-board new developers into the ecosystem and keep our diehards active and engaged, for the long-term benefit of Curve and DeFi. And we want to do this in a highly accessible manner, abstracting away various political and technical complexities to provide welcoming, user-friendly entry points that make it easier for contributors to find work and for projects to hire them.

Since last year’s launch, we have bootstrapped a jobs marketplace in our Discord server, matching contributors with tasks in a channel called “badge-in-prod.” Essentially, we play matchmaker. We post a “badge” — a job that a project needs done — and a bounty they will pay.

Right now, the process is entirely manual. Our vision has always been to make it automated and permissionless, based on NFTs that accrue reputational artifacts.

Enter Makeit.gm, a dedicated platform for our reputation system and jobs marketplace. Made possible by our Curve grant, which allowed us to recruit two full-time developers, the site is launching this year.

Deep breath. This is a big moment for us.

Makeit.gm is for anyone and everyone looking to make it onchain. Projects can use it to source talent, and developers can use it to contribute. The site will welcome newcomers, on-boarding them to DeFi workflows, while helping current onchain natives build their standing in the space.

Our badge mechanism — the backbone of the site — allows contributors to “level up” their reputation in a way that bestows benefits both tangible and intangible. For example, a LLamas badge with certain attributes may boost a person’s yield from the LLamas treasury. It’s also a mark of a clout, a brag point that could attract other job offers and opportunities. In the short history of The LLamas, community members have already made key contributions to some of the most influential and innovative projects in DeFi, buffing their badges in the process. Each badge becomes a powerful sort of on-chain résumé — a one-of-a-kind, non-fungible flex.

Along with a new auction house (see below), Makeit.gm will be one of our first products that is “Powered by LLamas” — a standalone effort that is owned and built by us, and that integrates with everything else we’re doing, but without our favorite wooly friend appearing in the name. This helps us scale more easily, for one. Additionally, it removes some friction for newcomers who might not be familiar with the finer points of Curve culture. You shouldn’t have to be a bespoke degen to know where to start. We all know the rabbit hole will lead to the LLamas anyway.

Leading the charge here is the gigadev Alecks, one of our earliest community members and contributors as well an expert in the verifiable credential space. He is building Makeit.gm along with the one and only Dina.

We are eager to show you Makeit.gm, and we can’t wait to see how the community puts it to work.

AUCTION HOUSE. ON THE MOVE.

When we offered LLamas NFTs to the public, we conducted the sale through a scratch-built auction system, inspired by the Nouns model but reimagined to suit our vision. The auction house was coded in Vyper, the language that continues to make impressive inroads in the Eth developer community, including Curve’s core devs. To our knowledge, the auction house is the most prominent NFT-related dapp built to date in Vyper.

We believe that as more dapps migrate to Vyper, the auction house will remain relevant. And the sale worked well: We raised 1,600e for our shared treasury, co-owned by every llama.

The success got us thinking about what else we could do with the auction code. Could other projects use it to launch their own products, and could llamas benefit in the process?

Well, a few months and conversations later, we are now partnering with blocmates, the giga-gmi, fast-growing crypto research and news site, to launch their LARP pass (Lifetime Access to Research Pass). The LARP is an NFT that “will grant the holder unlimited lifetime access to our new blocmates research section, on-chain analytics, and trackers,” among other perks. The LLamas is providing a custom-skinned auction house for blocmates to conduct the sale, in exchange for a percentage of ETH raised through sales of the passes. The offering will take place on Arbitrum.

As fans of blocmates and their scrappy, incisive coverage of this space, we’re very glad to be working with them. We also hope this sale opens the door to other partnerships that leverage our system, creating a new revenue stream for the LLamas treasury. PFP collections, gaming resources, mintable passes of any kind — any NFT sale on Ethereum or ETH L2s can take advantage of the auction house.

TAPPING CURVE

The LLamas is powered by Curve. Staked CRV and locked CVX make up the bulk of our treasury, earning yield, and each LLamas NFT is backed by a portion of those coins.

Now our llama friend and developer pyk is building a yield tap for LLama owners. You will be able to stake your NFT and earn yield, making LLamas one of the only PFPs in crypto that have a claim to actual treasury assets that are revenue-generating. Right now, pyk is testing the contracts, and after they are audited, as the market turns, we will be ready to turn on the tap.

In the meantime a percentage of treasury owned llama yield will be directed at the team as we scale and further invest back into our system.

Another sort of Curve tap we are working on is a micro-grants  front-end Curve to better find,  nurture and empower contributors. This will be a more liquid, agile tool than the traditional process – owned by Curve and managed by a group of core contributors, future sub-committees and members of the Grants Council.  The council, separate from the larger Curve DAO, can act quickly to award small amounts of funds for worthy projects.

Applying for grants from the larger DAO can be a daunting process, especially for grassroots projects with more modest goals. So we will make these applications easier through a new interface.

FXN 🤝 LLAMAS

One of the more intriguing projects in the Curve penumbra is the f(x) Protocol, created by our friends at AladdinDAO. The protocol takes ETH and gives it a kind of split personality, separating the familiar asset into two components — one with very low volatility (it’s essentially a stablecoin) and one with high volatility (for more degen uses).

The FXN token governs the protocol, and 3% of its supply is earmarked for “community boosters” and threadoooors who help the protocol by making content (our co-founders, Hawth and Panda, and core dev, Dina, are both boosters, for instance). Vote-locked FXN holders vote every month for the most effective boosters, and tokens are distributed accordingly.

We really like this mechanic, and we’re proud to say that The LLamas is now the first protocol whitelisted as a FXN community booster. This means that veFXN holders can vote to distribute tokens to The LLamas’ shared treasury. For both projects, we think, it’s an idea that just makes sense…

If you have veFXN and/or vlcvx — and especially if you own both veFXN and a LLamas NFT — please consider boosting us! The wstETH we receive through boosts will provide another source of yield for the treasury and for LLamas stakers.

We’re hearing things that a new epoch is on the horizon.

To help get this flywheel spinning and give something back to the Aladdin folks, we have hired the excellent JustJousting to build a dashboard for all Aladdin products, including the f(x) Protocol, CLever, and Concentrator. This dashboard will be similar to the powerful visualization JJ created to show the intrinsic value of vote-locked CVX. The Aladdin dash is in testing and already looks sharp.

While we tighten our bond this year with Aladdin, we will be parting ways with another project, Brrito. The brainchild of our friend kp. We helped advise the project in its early stages, and we’re very happy to see that Brrito is growing and has launched its own Discord. We wish Brrito and kp all the best.

ACCELERATING THE ECOSYSTEM: VENTURE-LLAMAS

Some llamas have already noticed a new channel in the Discord, “venture-llamas.” This is a way for us to advance the space by supporting new and experimental projects by developers in our community, while also driving value to our holders. Although this effort is very new and we don’t know how it will play out, the idea is to give llamas access to seed / venture / angel rounds in projects that are aligned with our mission and the wider goals of DeFi. Can a llama also be an angel? We aim to find out.

The first, official venture-llama project is Frok.ai, an AI experiment by Tadpole Labs. The Tadpole team includes one of our early llamas, the developer and Llama Risk analyst Knows. On the surface, Frok is an AI chatbot that understands crypto projects and speaks in an uncannily human cadence. But there is more to Frok, much more. For almost a year, Tadpole has been building and testing in stealth. Soon, very soon, they will hatch.

As you can see, we have a lot in store for 2024. Whatever happens in the broader space, we think this will be a big year for llamas and our friends, and we’re grateful as ever for your time, support, and talent.

Crypto is a tribal place with a talent problem. Contributors come and go with each market swing. We believe the protocols, the vision and rails being built here are too important to develop in spurts and stops — based on price action and driven by tourists who aren’t invested in the ethos of the space.

In the spring, we launched the LLamas, a reputation and workforce experiment with the aim of creating a place to rally builders, creators and founders to accelerate the development of onchain, defi economies.

Built by onchain natives, for onchain natives.

We believe that Curve is the base layer and hotbed for real-deal DeFi. It is one of the leaders of defi with a culture of innovation and tenacity. There’s more projects built on top of Curve than many alt-L1s.

The collection’s prompt was developed by wwpk and he made much of our collection. To bring people into the community and give them skin in the game, we opened up our process and invited anons to submit art to become part of the collection. From the getgo, we uncovered many incredibly talented artists and passionate members of the community.

We programmatically launched our project via an auction platform that took a page from Nouns — with a few notable and memorable twists. The turnout was far and above expectations. We received over 1,600e to bootstrap and seed our shared treasury, owned by every llama.

We also received generous grants from Convex, Conic and StakeDAO to integrate and align our projects.

We timed the auction and the treasury DCA with the launch of crvUSD and LLAMMA system. Its novel and game-changing mechanisms make Curve one of the most well positioned ecosystems for the long-term. While we can’t predict price action, we can act upon development.

Our DCA ended with a 200k usd OTC from Mich, given only to friends of Curve.

From midway through the auctions, we have been farming and compounding the treasury at what we believe to be comically low prices. (!remind me in 1 year).

Toon(sm), every llama will be able to access their claim on the yield from the treasury. And a little down the road, boost their claim with badges from participating and contributing to the ecosystem. More on this later.

GROWING UTILITY

The thing about pfps is that they have never really been deeply integrated within defi. Until the LLamas.

For many anons and collectors, the cornerstone of one’s digital identity is a pfp. Whether to flex, signal a set a ethos, membership to a tribe or to just wear an avatar because you feel like it. As digital identity expands from wallet address, to nfts, to something more all-encompassing, being able to bring your identity with you wherever you go is a simple and powerful upgrade. It’s tangible reminder that your every tx begins to build the reputation and lore of your onchain identity. actions are imprinting the lore of your digital identity onchain.

Alunara from Llama Airforce integrated the LLamas into the UI and provided code for other projects to follow suit. It didn’t take long for the LLama pfp integration to spread to many leading protocols within the ecosystem, like Convex and Votium. With more on the way.

We have also partnered with protocols to have their llama be a boost or a pass to access specialized farms and yield opportunities. This is a very exciting utility vertical to the core team and we are working to develop deep partnerships with protocols new and old to grow this use case.

We’re also the first project WL by FXN from Aladdin, so we will be able to contribute and vote on a grand scale. We love to see, use and learn more about all the amazing things being built by the Aladdin crew. And in time, we will be able to include liquid staked eth as a source of yield.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS FOR A PERMISSIONLESS WORKFORCE

Very early in our project, we had the opportunity to chat with Jack and David from Polygon. They instantly understood our value prop and gave the LLamas a chance to contribute, earn bounties and help build the new iteration of Polygon. The contributors who had joined our community did not disappoint.

We wanted to prove that there is a market fit for a specialized group of builders that can contribute to DAOs, chains, and protocols. Built with duct tape and hungry builders, we have found that there is great traction for this idea.

So far our alpha test for the workforce and talent platform has been a success. Anon devs like PYK, Alecks, 0xeabz, omnifient, 0xdapper, Rozales, MeetM, Degeneticist have built some very exciting and (in our humble opinion) huge legos for our partners.

They have made in-roads, become indispensable with behemoths of the industry and have collectively have earned around 100k usd for their time and talent.

The LLamas, being a group of onchain natives, have been leveraged as testers for protocols that are pre-launch. We helped test Gemach’s gBot, Litra’s NFT pools and participated in a farming challenge from Notional.

We aren’t CT, so we also post our Ls, because everything we do is a chance to get better. We are still discovering how our system can work. Some of our best devs and friends had the opportunity to pitch, as a dev studio, to build a promising RWA protocol.

It has helped us hone our process but we didn’t bring it home.

Now that we have proven that there is demand for this, we will be focusing on launching a platform that automates this process, scales, allows for anon reputation building and adds mechanisms to gamify the process of contributing.

FOUNDERS AND VENTURE LLAMAS

Being a hub for so many hungry builders is an energy unto its own. I could go on and on about how woolish I am on the group of builders we have gathered.

We launched with a special ai-bot that was an experiment to escape the uncanny valley. The whole picture of this experiment has just been revealed and every llama has been invited to join in the seed and launch of FROK, an ai tool created by evmKnows.

A snapshot was recently taken of llama holders and more news on the seed round is incoming.

Projects live and die by their memes and creative talent, that’s why we’re lucky to have llamaQuest and MetaCVX in our corner. LLamaQuest has been indispensable in being the creative subdao of the project. In short, we love the art.

While we found our stride, we found our voice. So much is happening in defi and within our own ecosystem, Cogsy stepped up and found his place in managing and memeing the chaos. With backend support from Irate, the little biweekly stream is an important tool for staying up to date on everything.

Auction Mechanics:

Llamafriends: you have the chance at two llamas before the public auction. Your first Llama is at a set price of .1eth. Your second Llama can be obtained by winning a whitelist auction.

Whitelistoors: you have the chance at two llamas before the public auction. Your two Llamas can be won in a gated auction that will last for about six days. There will be one Llama auctioned per hour. The starting auction price will be .1eth.

A couple of things to be aware of:

• The minimum next bid must be 2% greater than the current bid price.

• If a llama bid is contested within the last 30 seconds of the auction, the auction extends for 5 minutes, until a winner prevails.

• If you submit a bid but don’t win a llama, your ETH is stored in the auction house contract and saves you the gas fee of having to withdraw or unwrap between auctions.

• At the end of the auction, someone must call the contract (and pay a little gas) to settle the auction and start the next one. We like to think this is the first chance the winner gets to pet their new llama. Although, anyone can trigger the start of the next auction.

Pro tip: figure out when your llama comrades are sleeping

Pro-er tip: psyops your llama comrades into thinking you are awake at different hours than you really are.

Going Public

The Public Auction will begin on April 22nd at 2pm EST. For about a month, we will be auctioning a little over half of the collection to the public. There will be no address maximums, no gatekeeping, nothing. These auctions will start with a .2eth reserve. Anyone who wants to be a llama can come and participate.

We will be auctioning one llama every 90 minutes for about a month.

Llamas without a bid in the auction will be minted to the treasury and will be deployed at the discretion of the team.

Where the Funds are going

100% of the proceeds of the mint will be used to bootstrap a treasury of Curve ecosystem assets. The treasury is owned by the Llamas and the yield of the treasury will be directed toward positive-sum actions in v2 via the Badges system.

Until v2 launches, the treasury will be compounded and grown. The Llamas will take 5% from every secondary sale where enforceable and the protocol will set up liquidity pools with a portion of the Protocol Owned Llamas (POL) on Sudo after initial price discovery.

As ChatGPT once said: Saddle up Llamas, let’s ride.

In addition to Badges and the Marketplace, the Llamas protocol will open the Auction House contract to the community. Although to launch a project, founder Llamas must have attester-level badges. Projects being built in the LlamasHaus will be able to launch badges and tie tokens, veNFT, or any sort of future ownership to the badge to build their core team or attract talent. Llamas users without attester-level badges will be able to participate like any normal job.

The LlamasHaus contract is a flexible, generalized, fair-launch platform that can deploy tokens or NFTfi, or on-chain art in a number of mechanics (Dutch auction, English auction, etc.).

Wherever the Llamas go, LlamasHaus will be there

LlamasHaus will be deployed on Mainnet (powering the launch of the project). That said, we envision it being deployed to any L2 or zk-chain that the Llamas want to build on. We believe that trust is a currency, and the Llamas should be able to spend it to bootstrap and build wherever they’re inspired to.

The Llamas protocol will take a percentage of the mint or the supply from each project launched and add it to the treasury — adding a second revenue stream to help flywheel the growth of the the ecosystem. With each new project launched, the Llamas are creating new partners who are native to both Curve and the Llamas ecosystems.

The Llamas protocol is creating and governing a permissionless jobs marketplace, where entities can post jobs for Llamas holders to complete in exchange for Badges, reputation and rewards. This coordination hub creates a talent pool of devs, creators, strategists, whitehats, biz devs, and passionate anons that DAOs and other entities can tap into whenever they need — expanding their team’s bandwidth and expertise instantly.

The Llamas protocol’s yield-bearing treasury paired with its Badges reputation system creates an additive layer of incentive that aligns the the Llamas protocol with both ecosystem partners and users, and creates the conditions for the DeFi ecosystem to rally, build and rapidly expand.

Badges and the Marketplace will be the Llamas protocol’s main revenue driver and will grow the treasury, which in turn will increase yields and bring new people into the ecosystem.

Further Use Cases for Badges

Liquidity Lock Bootstrap event: The partner protocol could deploy a bounty and create a badge to help seed a pool. Users will have to lock a certain type of LP for a specific duration to acquire the badge, their claim on the bounty, and the additive boost from Llamas’ treasury.

PvE Badge Event — All Llamas work together to coordinate the flow of liquidity to help a partner protocol.

Targeted TVL Badges: Users could be tasked with locking a specific USD amount of liquidity in a new product for a bounty. This could be a free-for-all, where users could be rewarded by what they contribute. IE whales will get more of the bounty, but every user will get the same lock bonus after the badge becomes claimable.

PvP Badge Event — Llamas will compete to deliver liquidity to hit a TVL target for a partner protocol’s new pool or product.

Product Launch Badge Bundles: The partner protocol could deploy a series of badges aimed around standing up a new product or protocol. For instance, a badge could be deployed to the Llama Risk team specifically or to whitehat Llamas to stress test and write analysis of the product. At the same time, creator Llamas could be tasked with coming up with an educational content piece, a design system, and narrative-driving memes to help with launch. Liquidity could be provisioned with another badge, where interested Llamas could join forces or compete to fill a vault.

All of these badges could have staggered expirations or expire at the end of the event.

Community Rewards: Partner Protocols could define what “positive sum” means within their specific ecosystem and reward past or drive future actions. This will help protocols reward and retain a strong community.

In time, the Marketplace will be permissionless and the EAS attestation system is flexible enough that many more badge use cases will come to the Marketplace. These ideas are just a place to start.

The Llamas is an experiment in building an on-chain reputation system to reward positive-sum actions — to spur growth, reward existing contributors, onboard a new generation, and in time build an anon workforce.

To achieve this mission, the Llamas protocol is launching Badges— a mechanic to target and reward specific actions on and off chain. These Badges will be housed in the Marketplace, which will be a permissionless hub for users to complete bounties, earn their share of treasury yield, and collect reputation-building digital collectibles from protocols and DAOs.

Together, Badges and the Marketplace create an incentivized participation layer built on Curve, which unlocks a new tool for greater ecosystem coordination and human-capital efficiencies.

Powered by the Ethereum Attestation Service (EAS), the Badges system allows the Llamas and partner protocols to offer permissionless, flexible, gas-friendly, and time-weighted jobs for users to complete.

Each badge is essentially a wrapper for:

• A claim on the yield-flow from the Llamas treasury for a stated amount of time

• A bounty from the badge deployer (if applicable)

• A reputation-building artifact that will be kept in each Llamas user’s personal inventory

The Badges Ecosystem

Initially, Llamas users can earn three different types of Badges: Raid, Class, and Veteran. As the ecosystem develops, more use cases will emerge. The Marketplace will be permissionless, so badge deployers can explore and create use cases that best fit their needs.

Raid Badges are used for short term, heavy weight yield. This type of badge will be used for product launches, design sprints, and other use cases where an entity wants to gather a large share of attention, energy, or liquidity into one place.

Examples: A protocol might launch a pool or offering and create a liquidity lock badge for Llamas users to help bootstrap the new pool. At the end of the Badge’s epoch, participating Llamas are paid in a bounty, yield-weight from the Llamas’ treasury, and reputation.

Or this Badge could be used for a new protocol that wants to create art, content and propaganda around itself. This entity could pay prompt engineers, artists, memeooors, video editors, analysts, whitehats, and other creators to help it garner attention and get into the spotlight.

Class Badges are skill-based, reputation-heavy badges and will offer lower yield for much longer timeframes, or even be permanent boosts. This type of badge will be used to level up users and attract talent. Class badges allow protocols, entities and self-organizing groups of Llamas users to recruit, coordinate, and pursue greater mastery of their disciplines.

Example Classes: contracts, front end, creators, designers, growth, tokenomics, whitehat, strategist, media, etc.

Example Uses: A protocol could create a badge for contribution to the Vyper codebase. Devs who participate can earn a Badge that shows everyone that they have mastered a new coding language — along with additive treasury weight from the Llamas treasury.

Or an entity could do a call for entries for video editors to develop and create content around a new offering. Or to further the storytelling of that protocol and its community.

Veteran Badges are proof a user is a core part of a community. They were present at a key moment in the community’s history, have been there since the day the discord opened, or are a powerful part of the project’s voice.

Example: Collecting a mirror article, participating in governance, being there when a bearwhale is slain, coining the next great meme, etc.

Attesters are the elite Llamas who specialize ad have exhibited mastery in one or more skill-sets. These users or protocols will be the ones signing off on a badge and will be the anons in charge of the quality of work within the Llamas ecosystem. It is critically important for the Llamas protocol’s scaling to elevate talented Llamas to attesters when they showcase mastery of a discipline. Attesters will earn bounties, rewards, and reputation just like Llamas users who are completing jobs.

Badge Combinations is a mechanism for highly specialized, confidential, and complex jobs where a user must have a certain level or combination of Badges to be able to work on a job.

Examples: A protocol wants to hire a prompt engineer who “gets” their culture for a high stakes launch. They create a badge combination for prompt engineers who are more senior and who have a Veteran badge in the specific protocol.

THE MECHANICS

Badge Distribution Flow

1. A badge action is a targeted task that's completed on-chain or off-chain. Once the job is completed by a user, they are qualified to claim the badge.

An Attester, the anon in charge of signaling completion of the project from the Badge Deployer’s perspective, will be chosen by the entity deploying the badge — along with a number of check-in rounds specific to the task and method for verifying job completion.

2. Depending on the use-case, the verification method may be a contract or a script run off-chain. The Llamas will provide standard plug-ins that can verify Github repos, liquidity-locked for specific time periods, participation in governance, video or art created, etc..

If a third party is chosen as the Attester, they must either:

1. Develop their own validation script/contract

2. Work with the Llamas protocol to develop it for them

3. Use a pre-existing validation strategy plug-in developed by the Llamas protocol.

A) An example of an off-chain verification method would be a script that authenticates the users Github profile, and checks their commit history to a specific repo. If the user has committed to that repo in the past, then they are eligible for a badge.

b) An example of an on-chain verification method would be a contract that queries if a user has staked an LP on Convex in the last 6 months.

1. An Attester is chosen to be responsible for making sure the action has been properly completed. This Attester can be the Llamas protocol, a partner protocol, or another third party (whitelisted).

2. After a user earns their badge, their work will be validated by the protocol. Once they are validated, then an attestation will be signed by the Attester and submitted to the Llamas protocol.

3. The signed attestation will be stored on-chain or in IPFS depending on how it will be used later. If storing on-chain gas expenses will need to be taken into account.

Badge Verification Flow

1. The stored badge attestation is pulled from on-chain or IPFS.

2. Attestation is verified: Ensure the attestation was signed by an Attester that has the correct permissions to distribute the badge, and the attestation is not expired or revoked.

3. Now the user can be rewarded for completing the criteria. They claim their badge, any attached bounty, and their treasury yield is boosted. The badge will be collected in their inventory.

At this point, the user has a badge signed by a trusted Attester proving they contributed to the Curve ecosystem in some beneficial way, and has been rewarded for their work.

The Badge Marketplace and 3rd Party Badge Deployments

1. Criteria for a badge is defined.

2. Attester is approved by the Llamas protocol.

3. Attestation (badge) is signed by the whitelisted Attester and submitted to the Llamas protocol.

4. Attestation (badge) is stored on/off chain for later use.

5. Script/Contract verifies completion of criteria by the user.

   Ex. Lock liquidity for X amount of time to bootstrap a pool, commit to Github, or create an educational or promotional video piece.

THE LLAMAS is the social layer and cultural flywheel of the Curve ecosystem — created to be a neutral, community-led entity that on-boards new contributors, rewards the existing community, and empowers coordination across the many DAOs and protocols of the ecosystem.

Each of the 1111 Llamas is a digital collectible that acts as a digital identity to track and reward positive-sum actions, both on-chain and off. These tokens will allow users to create and curate an on-chain reputation, earn yield, and keep talent in the ecosystem.

INITIAL LLAMA ALLOCATION

By the end of the public auction, any unclaimed Llamafriends mints will be added to the community pool and used to extend the public auction.

HOW TO BUY

1. Connect to eth mainnet.

2. Mint at address will be announced closer to the event.

3. Purchase on secondary markets.

Mint rollout:

1. Treasury and team mint.

2. Llamafriends mint at .1eth.

3. Whitelist addresses participate in a gated Nouns-style auction that starts at .1eth. Whitelistoors will be able to win 2 Llamas. Llamafriends will be able to participate and win 1 Llama.

4. The public auction will also be Nouns-style and will begin right after the gated, wl auction. It will start at .2eth and be open to everyone with no restrictions.

CONTRACTS

Contracts will be audited and be shared with the community closer to launch.

TREASURY

Proceeds from the mint and volume from a 5% trading royalty will be used to create a yielding, community-owned treasury made up of Curve-ecosystem assets. The Llamas will govern and control this treasury. It will be compounded until the release of v2 when badge gamification and yield payouts begin.

• The multisig and greater Llama team will guide treasury strategy until v2 when governance goes live.

• The multisig will use funds, at its discretion, for audits and initial operations.

Llamas will deeply integrate within the Curve ecosystem, through both action and investment. We will pursue grants from ecosystem protocols and DAOs, in order to further decentralize our treasury, revenue, and community.

Any grants will be locked in the yielding ecosystem asset for perpetuity. This yield will also be passed through to Llamas in v2.

Revenue Sources: Mint and auction proceeds / 5% swap royalties / locked grants / protocol-owned Llamas (POL) yield strategies / v2 badge marketplace / Llama workforce platform.

ROADMAP

VOTING

We plan to offer a simple one Llama, one vote policy as we decentralize Llamas over time.

The Llamas will control the treasury, its strategies, proposals from CurveDAO (including gauge weights).

Please note: Up to 10% of the Llamas gauge-weight voting will be for reserved for Vyper development and other ecosystem-building actions.

BADGES

Badges is a mechanism that gamifies yield and rewards targeted action. Users will complete tasks, contribute to the Curve ecosystem, and earn a heavier weight in monthly yield available to every Llama in the form of CRV.

Badges will be bound to an address. Users will not receive yield without holding a Llama. Some badges will be lifetime weight boosts, while some will decay over the monthly yield epoch.

Our mission is to support Curve and positive-sum actions within the Curve ecosystem. Our voting will reflect that spirit. We will vote for key-ecosystem pools, Vyper development, and the pools of respective on-boarded partners.

We will launch immutable contracts in v2 and will apply for a whitelist from the CurveDAO in order to directly lock our treasury’s CRV in The Llamas contract.

Yield Flow: 50% of yield goes to Llamas 50% of yield goes to compound and grow treasury

As the treasury grows, the protocol will decrease the flow of yield used for compounding and send it to the Llamas. Yield balance will be voted on by governance in the future.

Users who have held their Llamas for one month will gain their share of CRV, based on their badge inventory. Yield flows to the Llama, not the address, so yield can be stacked. There is no timeline on claiming your yield. Yield will be distributed via merkle root to each Llama and will be claimable on our site.

The more you participate, the more you earn.

LLAMA WORKFORCE

Once badges have been introduced, a jobs marketplace will be launched shortly thereafter. This marketplace will be a permissionless lego built on top of Llamas that allows anyone to fund a badge, add their own task, and reward a Llama who completes the task.

The third party will pay for the job, and the Llamas will add a badge and yield weight to the yield game. The Llama(s) who completes the job will earn their bounty as well as boosted yield until the badge expires.

Badges will begin to act like a two-way reputation system. To protect all parties in the process, Llamas will whitelist initial badge partners.

As specialties of respective Llamas become clearer, targeted badge opportunities can be granted to the right Llama for the job.

The Llamas governance, and possibly specialized sub-groups, will remediate any workforce-related disputes.

A small percentage of the funding for jobs posted by third parties will be taken by The Llamas to grow the treasury and give more yield to the entire community.
