One of the first and important things to never lose sight of when you are going through a difficult...

Have you ever felt abandoned or forgotten by God?

One of the first and important things to never lose sight of when you are going through a difficult time is the truth that God cares very deeply about you.

It can be difficult sometimes to keep sight of this truth especially as there are certain situations, predicaments or challenges that may make it seem like God has abandoned or forgotten you but that is simply not true.

God cares very deeply about you and I. Scripture tells us:

Luke 12:6,7

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?

But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

First off, do you know the level of care you have to have for someone to know the number of hairs on the person's head and the number of each hair?

That is a huge level of obsession and it tells you that God's care for you is very deep and very detailed. He is aware of every hurt, every predicament, every challenge, every issue, every single thing, period.

And the beautiful thing about knowing this is realising that God is not the author of that hurt or adverse situation. He didn't put it on you nor is He ‘allowing’ you to go through it. There is no connection between your hurt and God. We live in a broken, fallen world where bad things happen but He didn't author it.

Additionally, it means whatever the hurt, challenge or situation is, God has already provided the answer or solution to it. You don't have such obsessive care for someone without having provided for every issue.

And so if nothing about that hurt or situation seems to be changing, know that God is not responsible for it but has already provided an answer or solution to it.

You may need to prayerfully persevere in faith about the situation, take authority over it, talk to God about it, reflect on the dealings of God with you, search the Scriptures, etc. Whatever it is, God has already provided the solution to that thing and it is simply a matter of seeking out and applying His wisdom concerning the matter.

God hasn’t and can't forget about you.

I call you blessed.

Give here

If this blog has blessed you, prayerfully consider making a gift of any amount to partner in spreading the gospel to others. You can give here.

Get the ebook

I published a simple pdf collection of 17 articles. Some of the articles are a bit longer than what's on the blog and will bless you tremendously. I talk about patience, identity, consecration, perseverance in prayer, what it means to be a saint, etc. If you are interested in getting a copy (N1500+) simply reply to this email and I will get it across to you.

In this post, we shall be buttressing a number of points we made in the first two parts of this series using the words of Jesus in Matthew 28:19,20.

In Matthew 28:19,20 Jesus said:

“Go ye therefore, and teach (or make disciples of) all nations… teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:”

The word translated observe here means to keep and in this context, it means to do all things Jesus commanded them as He commanded it, that is, without deviation. In other words, to live in accordance with His words.

Thus, Jesus was telling His disciples to make disciples of all nations by teaching them to do or live in accordance with His words which, if you think about it, means the same thing as teaching them to abide or remain in His word.

Therefore, if making one a disciple is by teaching such a one to abide in the word or to live in accordance with it then it means that a disciple is one who abides in the word or lives in accordance with it.

And as we have shown before (from a previous post and from Joshua 1:8) it is by consistent constant meditation that we abide or live in accordance with the word.

In conclusion then, we become true disciples of Jesus, that is, people who abide or remain in His word or live in accordance with it, by consistently constantly meditating on the word of God.

I call you blessed.

Get the ebook: a collection of 17 inspiring Christian articles

Recommended song

Recommended song

John 8:31

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

A disciple of Jesus is a learner or pupil of Christ, that's what the Greek word translated disciple means.

And in the last 2 posts (here and here), we have seen that a true disciple is one who consistently constantly meditates on (or speaks and or listens throughout the day to) the word of God.

This means that the way we learn of Christ is by consistently meditating on the word of God.

This is important to note because learning of Christ is becoming like or growing up into Him.

We know this because God's ultimate design for every believer is to become like Christ and as such this is the end of all true spiritual knowledge.

See Romans 8:29; Ephesians 4:13-15; 2 Corinthians 4:6; Colossians 2:6-9; Galatians 4:19.

Thus, the way we become like or grow up into Christ in all things is by consistently constantly meditating on (or speaking and or listening throughout the day to) the word of God.

I call you blessed.

Get the ebook: a collection of 17 inspiring articles

Check out today's recommended song

John 8:31

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

In this post, we will simply be reiterating the point made in a previous post which is that:

From the Scripture above, a true disciple of Jesus is one who continues (abide, remains, stays) in the word and meditating on the word is how we remain, abide or stay in it.

Meditating on something causes you to think and be focused on that thing. And if you're consistently and constantly meditating on a thing, then, in a sense, that's where you are; that's what you're dwelling on, that's where you are staying.

Equally true and more importantly is the fact that abiding in the word is simply another way of describing living in accordance with the word and Scripture tells us (Joshua 1:8) that consistent constant meditation on the word of God causes one to live in accordance with it.

Thus, we become true disciples of Jesus, that is, people who live in accordance with the word by consistently constantly meditating on the word of God.

I call you blessed.

Get the ebook

Recommended song

What does it really mean to be a disciple? Who is a disciple of Jesus?

John 8:31

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

When Jesus asked His disciples to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:16-20) what did He mean?

And if a Christian is really just another name for a disciple (Acts 11:26) what does it truly mean to be a disciple?

From our focus Scripture, continuing in His word is what actually makes one a disciple. Put in another way, a true disciple is one who continues in the gospel.

Interestingly, the Greek word translated ‘continue’ means to abide, stay or remain. And so, to continue in His word is simply to remain, stay or abide in His word.

And the number one way of doing that– continuing in His word or abiding or staying in it– is by consistently meditating on it, day and night which involves consistently and constantly speaking and or listening to the word (Joshua 1:8).

Thus, one who is truly and really a disciple of Jesus is one who consistently and constantly meditates on the word. In other words, he or she is one who speaks and or listens to the word throughout the day, every day.

Questions & feedback

Questions, comments, suggestions, feedback?

Titus 2:11:

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Salvation is simply much more than ‘being forgiven of sins, going to heaven and escaping hell.’

Instead, it is about eternal life and all of the incredible things included in it: healing, success, prosperity, etc. See and compare John 10:10; 1 John 3:8.

And so the striking and encouraging thing for me about this verse is that it reveals the impartiality of God for if the saving grace of God has been made available to all men then it means that where healing, prosperity, joy and success are concerned, God has already made these available to all men through Christ.

And so, it's not really a question of God answering our prayers about healing, success, prosperity, joy, etc., or even blessing us with these things (He already has) it's actually more about finding out how to access these gifts that have been freely made available to all men through Christ.

Recommended song:

Emperor of the Universe || Dunsin Oyekan ft.
