I’ve been playing Racket Rampage since January 2024 and a bit during their closed beta in 2023.

I’ve played Racket Rampage for countless hours, collected various Champs, Gear, and currencies, and have placed in the top 5 for the first few seasons. It follows the traditional rules of tennis but adds an interesting and humorous twist to the characters and the equipment you use. What kind of twist? Well, imagine cute chibi characters, but instead of using rackets and official tennis gear, they use frying pans, magical brooms, and deadly sharp axes to whack the tennis ball into your court.

The game reminds me of Mario Tennis Aces with its wacky storyline (please give us a Chapter 3), crazy tennis moments, and visually pleasing art style.

Getting Started

When you install and launch Racket Rampage for the first time, you will be introduced to the tutorial, which explains the game’s controls. The controls may sound simple, but they can be a bit challenging for new players. Don’t worry—that’s why I’m here to teach you the basics.

To serve - swipe forward towards the highlighted area that is diagonally opposite to your character. This is what you would call a “serve”

Service Ace - If your serve gets past the opponent, that is known as “Service Ace” or “Ace”

To hit the ball, swipe forward towards your opponent when your character is near the ball. This is what you would call “rally”

You can hit the ball in different ways (forward/backward swipe) when you’re rallying the ball back to your opponent. Here are some shots you can try out with the control on how to execute them

If you do a long forward swipe - this would execute a baseline/tramline shot. This is the normal forward swipe shot that you would do in a game of Racket Rampage

If you do a long backward swipe - this would execute a lob shot. Lob shots are special slow shots that go over your opponent’s character

If you do a short backward swipe - this would execute a drop shot. Drop Shots happen when the ball goes right over the net toward the opponent’s side and are very hard to execute

You can also execute special chance based shots and these chances improve based on your character’s stats and the equipment (Gear) they have

SLAM Shot: This is a chance based shot which sends the ball to your opponent with a lot of power. It has a cool fiery effect and it is known to be fast paced. You can execute this shot when the ball is over your Champ’s head

CRIT Shot: This is another chance based shot which hits the ball with great accuracy and power. It has a lighting trail when executed and has an almost 100% chance of securing the point.

Your character automatically moves to the point where the opponent has hit the ball but you can also move on your own by tapping on any part of the court

Green - GOOD | Red - NOT GOOD | Avoid the net if you can

Once you’ve got a handle on the controls, you’ll play your first Practice Match, which will test your abilities in the game. Don’t worry if you don’t win your first game of Racket Rampage — I didn’t win my practice match either. Now, let’s dive into what you, the player, can do to make your character stand out and become strong so you can win your matches with ease.

Know Your Champ

Every player in Racket Rampage starts off with a Champ of Common rarity, which we’ll call your Starter Champ (similar to your Starter Pokémon). Champs come in different playstyles and rarities. If you have an NFT from the Super Champs: Racket Rampage Genesis Collection, you can use your Genesis NFT as your Starter Champ. Genesis NFTs are of Legendary rarity and have a flaming crown over their head.

Meet my Genesis Champ; Kaneonuskatew Keane (or Ken for short)

Champs can be improved by collecting Champ Points (earned by playing games) and upgrading them with Dinkies once you have collected enough Champ Points. Every Champ can be upgraded a total of 9 times (from L1 to L10). Levels L1 to L5 are denoted with yellow stars, while L6 to L10 are denoted with red stars.

Rarities

The five rarities from lowest to highest in Racket Rampage

Most RPG games follow a traditional rarity ranking system that starts from Common (the lowest rank) up to Legendary (the highest obtainable rarity in the game). A Champ’s stats scale according to their rarity as well. For example, a Rare Champ would have much better stats compared to a Common Champ. Here’s a quick way to identify rarities in Racket Rampage:

Common (White)

Uncommon (Green)

Rare (Blue)

Epic (Purple)

Legendary (Yellow)

CUREL for short (That’s how I like to remember it)

Playstyles

(c) Super Champs Discord

Racket Rampage has a class-like system called “playstyles.” There are four different playstyles that a Champ can possess. These playstyles have their pros and cons on the court, and here’s a simple one-liner to help you understand what each playstyle does:

All-Rounder: The Jack of All Trades, Master of None, but better than Some! A perfectly balanced playstyle with equal points in all stats. A great class for beginners.

Sharpshooter: This playstyle focuses on accuracy and power. What they lack in speed, they make up for with precise and powerful shots, often hitting the ball close to the baseline/tramline. If you want satisfying wins with accurate shots, this playstyle is for you!

Power Player: As the name implies, this playstyle is all about making flashy plays. They have good base stats and exert a lot of power, but keep in mind that Power Players also lose a lot of stamina with their high-powered shots. If you love being the best server-style glass cannon, this playstyle will suit your needs.

Speed Demon: This playstyle is similar to a tank in most RPGs, but in tennis! They might not have the best power and accuracy, but they have high mobility, stamina, and can outlast opponents in a game of endurance. If you’re facing off against a Speed Demon, focus on closing the point as soon as possible because Speed Demons will survive the late game.

Playstyles can come in handy during different matchups, but it also comes down to personal preference. While I have a Legendary Speed Demon Champ (Genesis NFT), I personally prefer playing with Power Player Champs because they are fast and fun to play.

Sharpen Your Axe

(c) Super Champs Discord

Racket Rampage features an equipment system where you can equip Gear and use their respective Gear Abilities to give you an advantage on the tennis courts. Gear can be associated with one of the four playstyles and can come in handy in any situation. There are four different gear slots a Champ can have: Racket, Footwear, Outfit, and Headgear, and they come in the same five rarities (CUREL).

Gear can also be upgraded to higher levels to make them stronger in terms of Gear Ability Power, Number of Charges, Duration, and Cooldown. Gear can have a max of 5 levels, and the cost for every upgrade increases with level and rarity.

(c) SuperChampsHQ Twitter

Gear also comes in different Gear Sets, and equipping all items of a Gear Set gives you a SET BONUS which increases the potential of your Gear Abilities. The same also applies to equipping Gear of the same playstyle on a Champ with a similar playstyle. For example, an All-Rounder Racket will be more impactful if an All-Rounder Champ has it equipped.

Every Gear has a unique ability that gives your Champs a huge boost or can curse your opponents. Allow me to explain! You can use any Gear on your Champ to give you an advantage or disadvantage in the game, and it becomes even more impactful based on when you use the ability. For example, using a Racket Curse right before an opponent’s serve can slow down their shots.

Here’s a quick rundown of what most Boost/Curse Gear Abilities do, based on the gear slot. Depending on the Gear and playstyle, it can also affect other stats such as Accuracy, Mobility, Stamina, Energy Regen, and Crit:

Racket

Boost : Increases the power of your Champ’s shots.

Curse : Decreases the power of your opponent’s shot.

Footwear

Boost : Increases the mobility/movement speed of your Champ

Curse : Decreases the mobility/movement of your opponent.

Outfit

Boost : Increases the stamina and energy regen of your Champ.

Curse : Decreases the stamina and energy regen of your opponent.

Headgear

Boost : Increases the accuracy of your Champ’s shots.

Curse : Decreases the accuracy of your opponent’s shot.

These Gear Abilities have a set duration, cooldown and a limited number of uses in a game and all

Game Modes in Racket Rampage

Racket Rampage features three game modes that players can choose from: PvP, Racket Battle, and Bullseye (I miss you, Bullseye Game Mode).

PvP Mode: This is your default and most played tennis game mode which follows the traditional tennis scoring system. First to 5 points wins with overtime coming into play when both players’ scores are 4-4. This is called a deuce and requires either one player to score 2 consecutive points

Racket Battle: This is the awesome twist in Racket Rampage. Both players start the game with 1000 HP and will take turns rallying the ball back to each other. Based on the shots you execute (SLAM, CRIT or Aces), you deal damage. Winning the point deals the final damage to your opponent, draining their HP while you receive a health bonus. But remember, one small mistake could prove fatal and you could lose a LOT OF HEALTH.

Bullseye: This used to be a practice game mode and tournamnet where the objective was to score points by landing the ball in three different circles. This event is not longer part of the game (Devs, if you’re reading this - please bring back Bullseye Tournament)

While PvP is fun and fast-paced, I enjoy Racket Battle because it’s got the perfect pace and is the right game mode if you want to take it slow and make strategic and tactical decisions during the game. I do miss Bullseye as it was a fun and challenging practice mode.

Tips & Tricks while playing Racket Rampage

Here are some pointers that will help you in your Racket Rampage journey

READ EVERYTHING the game tells you! From the Gear descriptions, Gear Abilities and the tips in the matchmaking and loading screens. They are super useful

FIND YOUR FAVOURITE PLAYSTYLE. There is no such thing as the best playstyle in the game. As I’ve mentioned earlier, it all depends on what you like and

LEARN TO TAP MOVE after returning the shot to your opponent. This will make it easy for you to cover potential areas where the opponent can return the ball

EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT CHAMPS & GEAR in matches. You will make mistakes but you will find your comfort pick and you will be able to optimize how well you play in matches

TAKE IT SLOW with your gameplay. I’ve seen a lot of players do this and they mkae a lot of mistakes. There is no need to swipe aggressively and whack your shots. Like they say, Patience is the key to success

REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN. I cannot stress this point enough because I’ve seen the mobile gamer rage. I’ve experienced myself but I find games to be easy and playable if I remember why I launched the game - to have fun!

FOCUS ON PLAYSTYLE BONUS when equipping Gear. This is a personal tip/trick that I follow because I find Playstyle Bonus more beneficial than the SET BONUS. This is because you are not confined to using one entire set and you can play around with what Gear you are comfortable with

CUREL IS YOUR BEST GUIDE. Knowing the rarities can make a lot of difference in your decision making when upgrading Champs or Gear. Just remember that the higher the rarity, the more expensive it is going to be to upgrade them

I hope these tips and tricks can help you improve your game and become better. Now you know what Racket Rampage has to offer.

Conclusion

That’s all there is to this article. I hope you learned something from this as this is my first time writing after YEARS! So I’m a bit nervous to see how this article is going to be received.

If you’re interested to jump into Racket Rampage and the Super Champs Universe, you should definitely check out their Play-to-Airdrop Campaign where you can complete quests, earn quest points and claim their native token, $CHAMP, when it comes out. Get a 500 Quest Point bonus by using my referral link

https://app.superchamps.com/?r=Ratzzyyyy

If time permits, I might do a beginner guide for Bullet League and give everyone a basic rundown of the game.

Thanks!

DISCLAIMER: This article acts as an entry for one of an ongoing contest in Super Champs.
