Blockchain, the technology that powers cryptocurrency, is a super-secure online database that is difficult to tamper with. Rather than a central database that is vulnerable to hackers, the blockchain database is widely distributed across various computer parts of the network. It is incredibly difficult to manipulate or takedown these circulating database copies.

The valuation for cryptocurrency companies can be wildly high, which is why there is so much buzz surrounding it and making it a fertile ground for scammers. The government used to be the fairest judge in financial transactions until blockchain. Blockchain uses a system based on code to establish a trustless transaction between parties. But, even a system based on code has its vulnerabilities.

A hack in 2020 affected multiple servers and saw many people lose millions of dollars in cryptocurrency to an unknown hacker’s address. They posted a tweet on the Twitter accounts of some popular figures like Kanye West, Elon Musk, Barack Obama, and a few others.

Cryptocurrency, though growing rapidly, is a Wild West where many users who lack experience and knowledge can expose themselves to many manipulations and cons from bad actors. A report to the FTC’s Consumer Sentinel explains scammers are luring people into bogus investment opportunities in their droves.

Phishing happens when somebody receives a message (most likely an email) that falsely claims to be from a legitimate organization. Phishing aims to obtain vital information like your crypto wallet’s private keys they can use to gain access to your wallet’s fund. The phishing scam is one of the most popular ways scammers operate.

Bogus investment is another rampant way scammers devise their schemes. Pseudo investment schemes come around and tell you how you can double and triple funds invested, usually in a cryptocurrency, quickly. They mostly claim to invest these coins in the financial market like the cryptocurrency markets, stocks, and forex. Due to the rewarding nature of these markets, unsuspecting people are coaxed into parting with their money. Some of these schemes even offer returns on investment for a very short time to get more hapless people on board. While funds flow inwards, they end up dashing people’s hopes when individuals wake up one day only to see these sets of scammers have made away with their funds.

Scammers prefer this model to the conventional method of scam investment because it is difficult or even impossible to trace invested funds back to them due to the anonymous nature of the blockchain.

Even since the 2017 DeFi season, DeFi rug pull has been another popular way bad actors operate in the cryptocurrency market. A rug pull happens anytime the developer of a token or a coin runs away with the investor’s funds.

Given how new the world of decentralized finance is and how limited the SEC and other financial institutions are with this technology, the DeFi world is currently hardly regulated. This deregulation opens up many DeFi projects to rug pulls scams despite its advantage. Except if an investor is experienced in the world of Decentralized Finance, rug pulls are almost always unavoidable.

ICO is launching a new coin by selling it to investors during the launch period. ICOs are great ways for solid projects in cryptocurrency to get funds to maintain different teams that allow for a successful project. Due to the success of top cryptocurrencies like Binance coin and Ethereum, many investors believe getting in early is a way to profit the most from a project/token before it goes to the moon and the price becomes expensive.

Although this investment mode in cryptocurrency sounds profitable, this is not always the reality. Scammers create fake URLs to host their websites, and they go on a marketing campaign to win investors over and get them to deposit valuable tokens into a compromised wallet. After accumulating a lot of investors’ funds, they distribute worthless tokens and abandon the project leaving those that invested in heavy losses.

Non-Fungible Tokens are a technology that leverages the blockchain to create a transparent digital ledger that documents an asset’s actual digital ownership. NFTs, bring light to how traditional services and goods can establish their services, goods, and deliverables and give it a unique identity on the blockchain. It has gotten a lot of attention, both positive and negative.

A lot of fake websites hawk fake NFTs to unsuspecting buyers. This niche is new, and people cannot fully understand buying and trading NFTs on reputable websites. Scammers capitalize on this to lure unsuspecting buyers who end up losing their money.

Also, many new NFTs are created every day, and many of them won’t see the light of the day. It is very easy to create an NFT, although many metrics, including utility, are used to determine the values of these NFTs. Due to the seamless process of creating NFTs, NFT creators/ scammers make NFT without giving it proper utility.

It turns out to be a scam after buying these NFTs at their peak value. Buyers of these NFTs cannot resell these tokens to the general market because their values have plummeted to zero.

NFT scammers also can come to you on social media in the guise of making friends with you. After creating a kind of bond with you, they market different NFT scams that end up being a big hoax.

Cryptocurrency, with its decentralization, comes with other cons that attract scammers to these markets. The Security Exchange Commission and other financial regulatory authorities are looking to regulate cryptocurrency and reduce crypto scams to the minimum. It is very important to constantly educate yourself on how these scams operate to avoid them in your day-to-day cryptocurrency transaction.

The SundaeSwap DEX will go live as a fully-functional beta on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Projects will be allowed to create pools beginning Tuesday, January 18th.

Initially, there will be three ways to acquire SUNDAE:

The ISO will begin as well on Thursday, January 20, and will continue for five epochs, with rewards (5% of the total SUNDAE supply, 1% per epoch) being distributed based on the snapshots that will be taken at each epoch boundary.

To participate in each ISO reward round, you must delegate prior to the follow dates:

As long as you are delegated to an official ISO Scooper (find the list here) before the snapshot is taken, your rewards will be calculated for the epoch you staked in.

If you want to make sure you qualify for all five ISO reward rounds, you must have ADA staked with eligible SPOs before 21:45 UTC on January 25th. Your reward will be calculated based on the snapshot taken at that time, and at the same time at each subsequent epoch boundary. Details on where and how you will receive your SUNDAE and how you can check your outstanding rewards will be shared soon.

Yield farming is a form of staking used by DEXs to reduce the volatility of their liquidity pools. You can learn more about yield farming on the SundaeSwap help section here. 500,000 SUNDAE will be allocated daily over at least the first six months of the DEX’s operation to yield farmers participating in the following liquidity pools:

While we still stand behind the benefits offered by the Taste Test price-setting procedure we previously announced, the contracts we wrote for the Taste Test were not part of our audit. As we looked at the timelines for our launch, we made the difficult choice not to launch the SUNDAE token with the Taste Test. This change allows a SUNDAE / ADA pair to exist at launch and be available for users to swap immediately instead of waiting until after the ISO and the Taste Test. We will continue to develop the Taste Test, and plan to offer this as a service to other projects that choose to launch on the SundaeSwap platform in the future.

We are launching with a Beta label because, while the DEX’s smart contracts have been fully audited and the DEX will meet all industry standards for security, the implementation of fully decentralized governance will not be immediately possible due to existing transaction size limits on the Cardano blockchain. We will post more on our roadmap to a fully community-controlled DEX shortly.

As mentioned a week ago, even the most optimistic performance projections show a backlog of orders during the first few weeks of the DEX’s operation. However, we expect performance to improve as adjustments are made by both the SundaeSwap and Cardano teams. While orders (including swapping, providing liquidity and withdrawing liquidity) may take hours to days to process at first, it’s important to know that everybody’s orders will be processed fairly and in the order they were received and executable. It will also be possible to cancel orders at any time before they are processed by the Scoopers. Canceling orders is not subject to the same queue.

Allow me to offer you a sword to help you on your journey. I’m going to teach you two magic words that are amazing for Twitch streamers, YouTubers, and article writers: referral codes.

A huge sin I see being committed by articles pertaining to crypto projects is the “shilling” of a project versus education. Articles should be made to be informative and give the researcher/reader an unbiased view of a service, product, or personal method used by the writer. If the links listed in the article contain a referral code and the writer does not mention this in the article itself, you need to question the recommendations they are giving.

Let me explain what referral codes are and do: A referral code is often a combination of letters/numbers added to a link that refers to a unique user. If you click the link and use the service the user receives a reward/payment.

This is perfectly fine if the reader is made aware of this intention. However, if the “great new way to make money” they are discussing in their article isn’t what makes them money(because they make more off the referrals), you could be signing up for a project/product that they’ve simply hyped up so they can profit off you.

Things you should question: Are they sponsored? Is a referral code in the link? Does the writer make the reader aware of the referral code(or sponsorship) in the links on their articles? Is the writer genuinely producing revenue from the investment that they insist you spend on, or is it from the referrals and/or sponsorship?

There’s a saying that goes: “Know of which side your bread is buttered”. Always questions who is buttering(providing revenue) to the bread of the person trying to convince you to buy into a project.

ETH在上一轮的表现非常的抢眼，但是在强下跌的趋势下还是比不过BTC，尤其是同BTC的汇率直接跌破了0.075，到目前为止ETH的持仓用户获利仍高达75%，领先了BTC将近5%。但即便是这样，ETH的购买力还是仅次于BTC的，即便是周末资金非常短缺的情况下，ETH和BTC的成交差异都不到10%，远超均值。

BTC的合约情况一直是随着现货价格的，凌晨现货下跌导致被动减持后，合约的情况几乎就没有变化，未平合约所在的点位依然超过了1204处于有史以来的高点，资金费率显示看多仍然是主流的趋势，不得不提这一届的BTC合约选手真的是值得敬佩，从6万5一路看多看到4万，而且还保持着很高的杠杆率。

ETH的合约情况相比于BTC要健康多了，虽然未平合约还是处于历史高点，但是还是从相对的更高点降下来了，新合约的成交量也不算高，而且资金费率也不是一直死要多头不放，但是这么强烈的看空也不是很理性，而且杠杆率也不低。虽然目前的ETH走势不尽人意，但成交量还是紧跟BTC，黑天鹅较小。

BTC的长期持有数据现在看，经过长期的下行已经有了回升的趋势，长期持有人对于当前价格完全没有兴趣，继续回到增持的阶段，这预示着BTC又要开始了抢筹码的阶段，这个阶段BTC未必价格会一直上涨，但一方面会带来流通量减少，而另一方面则会加剧BTC向高净值流动。目前长期持有BTC超过1,300万枚。

We understand that some customers are experiencing delayed responses to support queries, and the delay in refunds has caused anxiety among some. We apologise for the delay and frustration caused, and first of all want to assure you that your assets are safe with us, that we are working hard to accelerate the refunds process and clear the backlog.

This is also a good time to explain what we mean by refunds process, this refers to any transaction that requires manual intervention from the team. Generally for one of two reasons.

The refunds process involves several teams as we have a strict process to ensure the right checks and balances are made. Due to a shortage of staff over the holidays and a surge of incoming inquiries from a high volume of minting brought in by the incentive program announcement on 24th December, and unlocking after the Tinyman pool exploit on 2nd January combined with dedicating team time to assist with the efforts post exploit including reviewing code, heightening security and monitoring on-chain activity, we have hit a speedbump and haven’t been able to process all refund requests in a timely manner despite the team working around the clock. That being said, we now have all hands on deck to work through the tickets and you should receive your funds back within the next 12 hours.

In addition, we are working on enhancing the product workflow to make the performance more stable and the minting process more intuitive, so we can cut down refund needs from the root cause in future.
