We need to build experiences that music fans love and music artists are proud to have their art showcased in.

What if the digital music collection was reimagined for the web-app era?

What if it worked for multiple music services? What if it was open and shareable, so people could actually simply show off their music taste?

We’ve been building a platform called Sleevenote. Sleevenote was born to reunite digital releases with the full visual creativity that accompanies music, we dabbled in hardware, and now we’re adding features to our platform that I’m insanely excited about, these are in two main areas:

You can now search for and play any release available on DSPs

You can now add any releases to your own collection and share it

(and of course incredible official full artwork is still there from the likes of Black Midi, Jacques Greene, Glass Animals and many more.)

Introducing Collections

With Sleevenote you can build up an online music collection, which is public and versatile and PURE.

Here is my collection I’ve been adding albums that have had a big impact on me the last few years, and adding some older favourites at the end. (side note: at this time the only ordering is manual so you arrange releases how you like, what looks good to you, this simple act of curation immediately makes me feel like I’m back in control of my music):

my collection on Sleevenote

Sleevenote and the Web3 future

I personally am of the opinion that music NFTs are a great idea (separate them from the shortfalls of crypto for your future gazing). The main attraction of NFTs being that artists are happy to make their music available to everyone if a small contingent of super fans are treating them like the valuable fine art they are. For NFT collectors we will be adding the ability to show off your NFTs alongside other non-NFT releases in Sleevenote soon, so you can show off the total of what makes up your music taste. We have already dipped a toe here with Teen Daze’s Interior where we are showing who has bought each Catalog NFT track from the album, and are excited to explore more possibilities for showcasing music NFT collections.

The Sleevenote team is myself (design) and Chris (development), with the support from music product oracle @cxy and other friends.

Try Sleevenote for yourself and I’d love to chat to you on our Discord or Twitter

Your fellow music fan, Tom
