Web2 Domains

In the 1980s, the first domain name was registered, AND **fun fact** the first ‘cryptocurrency’ was created!

No! it wasn’t Bitcoin, it was something called eCash. But that’s besides the point.

On March 15, 1985, Symbolics.com was registered as the first-ever domain name! Now, people could access Symbolic’s website by just typing in “Symbolics.com” on their web browser.

Let’s talk Domains.

In Web2 a domain name is the string of text (ending in a .something) you type into a web browser to open a web page.

In Web3, it is also a string of text (ending in a .something) that represents a crypto wallet.

But these domains in Web2 and Web3 are not the same!

At the $SNS, we seek to build a community-owned Sui Name Service that will act as your digital identity for crypto gaming services and products, or as I like to call it - Gmail for Crypto Gaming. Right now, we're starting out as a name service for Sui, but our goal is to create an eco-system of products on Sui that you can access via your web browser by the ".sui" top-level domain - each ".sui" registration will control its equivalent ".sui" TLD as well.

The SNS will be community-run via the $SNS DAO.

In no other time in history have people had a say in the protocols they use. We believe people should have a voice in the SNS, via a DAO. For this reason, we are pledging 25%+ of $SNS to be registered to early users, community members, and contributors.

We believe crypto is a force for good and our ultimate goal is to help as many people as possible. DAOs have so much potential and we want to build a new type of company, focused on helping individuals. If you cannot see the future by now, we want to make it clear: this is not your regular crypto protocol.

We're here for the people. Let's make history.
