Nearly 2 months after upgrading The Merge to help Ethereum switch to Proof-of-Stake, founder Vitalik Buterin has posted the latest updates on the development roadmap for the world's second largest cryptocurrency. .

Previously, in the roadmap version published in July 2022 , Vitalik outlined 4 next development stages for Ethereum after The Merge, including: The Surge, The Verge, The Purge and The Splurge.

The development focus for each stage is as follows:

– The Surge : adds Sharding scaling technology  and reduces fees on Layer 2 . This change is aimed at general users on Ethereum.

– The Verge : build a merkle tree to minimize the amount of data that must be stored to be able to participate in transaction verification. This change targets Ethereum validators.

– The Purge : simplifies the technical aspect of Ethereum, removing unnecessary old historical data through the EIP-4444 upgrade. This change serves Ethereum developers.

– The Splurge : a series of upgrades to help Ethereum run smoothly after implementing the above stages.

Vitalik Buterin also noted then that all four stages will take place parallel to each other, not according to the level of time. The speed at which each phase is implemented will also depend on the development team in charge of the component upgrades within it.

However, according to the latest update, the Ethereum founder has announced the following changes.

• There are still no changes on the mainnet of the first project to apply biometric technology to the blockchain.

• By design, all nodes will be equal in strength.

• Initially, there will be no DAO and the project will build later. See also this article . 

• Those who participated in the previous token sale wave will soon receive the purchased HMND. The procedure is similar to testnet 4 . 

• Besides the mainnet, Humanode will also launch another testnet for the mainnet and a testnet for the canary network to provide more truly innovative tools.

Update on validator

• Initially, the number of validators was limited to 1000. 

• The project dedicates 2% of the distribution to mainnet validators. This is a special fund that will launch for the first 100 validators. Regardless of the saturation of the network, the project will still cover the cost of running the node for the next few years.

• No pre-onboarding time. The mainnet is deployed at a specific time and the nodes will integrate themselves like the testnet.

• Note that there is a delay between mainnet deployment and HMND after listing exchanges, so only those who have purchased HMND before can run node.

Humanode is not yet authorized to reveal the exchanges that will list HMND, but the integration has already begun and Humanode is expected to achieve an ETA in late November – early December.
