We used to dub mixtapes or burn CDs. Today much of our identities are intertwined in our streaming playlists. It’s profound how easy it is to consolidate our favorite songs and share those groupings with anyone. That said, we have lost something innate to art because of these advancements.

It feels necessary to advance more consciously this time around. We now have the power to provide more immersive curation. Streaming platforms, ironically, produce a sort of anti-connectivity between creator and fan. Media consumption has never been more transactional and, frankly, uninspiring. 8-tracks, LPs, cassettes and burnt CDs all provided some semblance of ownership and connectivity to the artist or curator. It’s a bummer not to have that connection. Well, cheer up!

https://twitter.com/mikeybitcoin/status/1533280289316667392?s=20&t=ifhV-levXsJMBGt91hmZlA

Wavpoint is a new playlist and curation construct. By utilizing the power of web3 tech, the new wave of music curation will prove to strengthen the creator economy and the connection between creators and their fans.

🫠 Wavpoint, a platform for curators, creators and fans.

The platform dynamics are pretty simple:

Wavpoint will regularly release drops, hosted by a curator. Most of the time the curator will be a DJ, but can be a creator of any kind.

Drops, more often than not, will consist of both music and visuals.

Sometimes a drop will contain music created by the curator and/or a select few other creators. Other times a drop will also contain music that has been submitted to the curator by the general creative public.

Curators can (and should) partner with graphic designers/filmmakers for the drop visuals. All drop contributors will be showcased and compensated accordingly. Collaboration. Fun.

Each track in the set/track list will reveal itself in real-time as the track begins.

And – you guessed it – anyone will be able to mint an NFT edition during the duration of the drop.

Minting will only be possible during the course of the drop. Duration length will vary by drop. Supply will be unlimited during the drop duration.

1 rare edition will be hidden within the drop at a randomly generated timestamp. Whoever mints closest to this timestamp will receive the rare edition.

Edition NFT price may vary, but will most likely default to 0.1 ETH.

🔮 Wavpoint will be built on top of Zora’s Drop Protocol.

🤝 Co-hosts are an interesting concept and will help amplify a drop. A co-host will most likely be a brand, record label, DAO, another curator, or someone that some number of people think is cool. But again, a co-host can be anyone or anything.

🪩 Drops can be thought of as a community activator, a standalone piece of art, or both. Be creative. Make a film, or a film coupled with a live performance. Create a disruptive experience that announces your tour. Wavpoint is your oyster. Collaborate and amplify.

Potential Wavpoint UI/UX Preview

🌐 Splits & Fees

All revenue generated from drop edition NFT sales will be distributed transparently between the curator, drop song artists, graphic artists, filmmakers, co-hosts and Wavpoint via the 0xSplits protocol. Initially all percentage splits will most likely be fixed by contributor category. More details to come regarding this.

There will be a Wavpoint platform fee of 5% per transaction (primary and secondary). Fees will land in the Wavpoint treasury. They will be used to compensate core team members, pay for platform admin/storage costs and pay for development to advance the roadmap. As the platform stabilizes, we will definitely consider redistributing a portion of the platform fees back to the community.

🗝 Ahh, yes…Utility?

As you might imagine, holding an NFT is essentially your golden ticket to access a number of different perks provided by all curators, creators and co-hosts involved in a given drop. In the platform’s infancy, we will urge all creators to direct NFT holders to their respective token-gated websites/communities.Tell.ie, Mintgate and Unlock Protocol are all providing amazing tools for artists to gate content and experiences.

Ultimately, Wavpoint will also provide a suite of tools for natively gating content and providing the ability to redeem tokens for IRL events/concert tickets. Sick.

Wavpoint will consistently be releasing new features. Drop NFT holders and Genesis Access Pass NFT holders will always be the first to participate in new partnerships and test new features.

🎟 Wavpoint Genesis Access Pass NFT

Soon you will be able to mint an NFT that will be required to access the Genesis season of Wavpoint drops. 🚨 An announcement will be made on the Wavpoint Discord the moment the NFT is added to this post and available to mint. 🚨

We are not yet sure how many drops the Genesis season will include, but as you might imagine, we want to reward Genesis supporters with exclusive access and the opportunity to provide critical early feedback.

There will be a limited number of passes available. Secondary market availability may also be limited given the utility the pass provides. Don’t sleep.

🌀 Closing Thoughts

Stay the curious course. Exploration of the new frontier of possibilities in tech have catalyzed a wave of previously undiscovered purpose. This phenomenon is increasing exponentially in the web3 thoughtspace (despite market volatility). We can’t quite know what Wavpoint will become. It will probably evolve into a DAO, but not just for the sake of becoming a DAO. We are going to take it one step at a time and always put creator and community interest first.

In the meantime, we will do our best to announce details regarding the first drop (drop curator, submission period, drop date, etc.) in the coming weeks.

We are also looking for like-minded collaborators to join the Wavpoint Core Team (creatives, devs, operatives, treasury specialists, etc). If you’re interested, please fill out this form and we’ll reach out to you.

🥂Cheers.
