            <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I chose to transition from the education to the technology space because I saw the impact of services like Twitter and YouTube on my students. As a teacher, I had to do near acrobatics to hold the attention of my students for a fifteen minute lesson. Meanwhile talk of achievements and ratings in fortnight filled the sound space of the lunch room. Six years trying and it became apparent to me that the school system I was participating in and perpetuating wasn’t working. Slow to adapt, hierarchical and controlling, it would inevitably go extinct.</p><p>Some “progressive” educators were pushing the idea of a “flipped classroom”, where students consume learning materials self serve and then spend classroom time asking questions, clarifying confusion about the content, or working through the most difficult problems together. I was homeschooled a bit so the term “flipped classroom” felt like newfangled clothing for something inherent and familiar. I sensed this was true me, the nerdy homeschooler, but even more true the digital natives in my charge. Authentic learning is <em>always</em> self serve: regardless of place or context, learning requires time and effort to come to <em>understand</em> a thing.</p><p>Anyways, … web3 is exciting for many reasons. First because the internet is fun again! This space is full of life and creative energy and playfulness. The people building out Web3 understand something very basic that the dinosaur institutions have been slow to grasp and implement: we learn through <em>play</em>, through <em>community</em>, and because we <em>want</em> to learn.</p>]]></content:encoded>
