If you use AI to develop an argument, examine a news story, or work on a project, giving it a clear method can help you get a more useful result.

I’ve put together Curated Skills, a growing collection of agent skills I’ve selected, adapted, and maintained. It now has a website where you can explore what each skill does, see examples, and find installation instructions.

The collection currently includes:

• Minto: Make the main point clear and build a logical argument around it—useful for proposals, emails, and substantive drafts.

• Xray: Examine public news through evidence, incentives, and competing explanations. Who benefits, and what else might explain the story?

• agents-md-author: Create or tidy up the standing instructions your AI agent follows in a project.

• GitHub Pages Guide: Turn repository content into an educational website that helps visitors understand its value and get started.

Each guide explains when the skill helps, when to skip it, and how to invoke it with examples you can adapt. You can use individual skills; there’s no need to install the whole collection.

The skills are MIT-licensed and written for portability across applications that support agent skills. The guides include attribution for the ideas and work they build on.

When you ask an AI assistant for advice, it can be difficult to tell whether it has examined the tradeoffs or simply followed your framing.

I’ve put together Portable LLM Council, an open-source skill that helps you explore a business or technical decision through several perspectives before receiving a recommendation.

The process has three rounds:

• Five separate advisors examine assumptions, fundamentals, overlooked opportunities, clarity, and execution.

• Five fresh reviewers evaluate the anonymized answers for strong arguments and blind spots.

• A chair weighs the reasoning and recommends a direction and one concrete first step.

The assistant saves an HTML report and a Markdown transcript so you can inspect the arguments behind the recommendation.

Useful questions include:
— Should we launch a paid pilot or build the full product?
— Should our team focus on onboarding or acquiring more customers?
— Should we migrate a system gradually or replace it in one go?

These are starting questions, not complete prompts. The decision needs relevant context.

Share your objective, constraints, options, and evidence so far—or ask the assistant to use the discussion you’ve already had. A few focused paragraphs are usually enough. The example questions above are starting points, not complete prompts.

One shared skill supports native subagents for Claude Code—including local Code sessions in Claude Desktop—Codex, Cursor, Command Code, Grok Build, OpenCode, and Factory Droid. No particular model is required.

To get started, give your assistant this instruction:

“Read the installation instructions at https://github.com/goolamabbas/portable-llm-council and install the shared skill and the agent definitions for this harness in my personal installation locations. Back up existing copies before replacing anything, then verify discovery. Do not run a council yet.”

Your assistant may request approval for file changes. You may need to start a new session before it can verify discovery. The repository also includes manual installation instructions and example prompts:

A full council takes more time and model usage than an ordinary answer, so it’s best reserved for decisions with meaningful tradeoffs. Agreement isn’t proof of correctness. The benefit is uncovering assumptions, competing arguments, and evidence you may need before acting.

AI assistants and agent tools increasingly include web search and page-reading capabilities. For many everyday questions, those built-in tools are entirely sufficient.

More demanding research can involve several different jobs, however: discovering relevant sources, reading a JavaScript-heavy page, mapping or crawling a website, applying the same fields across a list, retrieving specialized data, or producing a cited research synthesis.

Treating all of these as simply “web search” can result in duplicated work, unnecessary complexity, and less clarity about where an answer came from.

I have therefore published a new practical guide:

Choosing External Research Tools for AI Agents

The guide is intended to help readers:

• decide when the search and page-reading tools already available in an AI application are sufficient;

• distinguish retrieval from research or synthesis performed inside an external provider;

• choose tools according to the desired outcome rather than a provider’s name;

• avoid sending the same search or page to several providers without a useful reason;

• verify important claims against opened sources; and

• understand what an AI agent should report about the tools, sources, failures, and evidence gaps involved.

It uses Octen, Exa, Perplexity, Parallel, Firecrawl, and TinyFish as practical examples. It is not a ranking or a suggestion that everyone should connect every provider. The central idea is to use the minimum set of tools that genuinely improves the evidence available for the task.

The guide is fairly detailed, so I have included a “Choose your path” section near the beginning for readers who want to go directly to provider selection, installation, ready-made prompts, or the reusable routing skill.

I hope it will be useful to people experimenting with ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, and similar AI environments—as well as to anyone trying to understand what these external research tools actually add.

I would be very grateful for candid feedback, especially on anything that remains too technical or could be explained more clearly.

Coming back to the Web3 Resource Hub, recently I decided to clean it up by removing topics which I didn't feel very relevant today, adapting the presentation of some of the pages which is still work in progress and adding some new sub-pages which I'll elaborate below. The Web3 Resource Hub I expect to look very different by mid to late 2026 if not earlier.

I'll be honest that in a world where answer engines such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity and many more are intrinsic part of our daily lives, many times I question the purpose/value of these curation Even some of my recent curation has involved me primarily sharing prompts/answers for a topic from an answer engine

Currently my plan is to review the content on these Notion pages on whether the previous curated content is relevant or if the pages/sub-pages should be deleted or replaced by prompts/links to answer engines. At times, I may do a combination of hand picked curation and links to answer engines considering that answer engines are also limited in their reach because various content sites are not accessible to them

Some of you may be aware of the the Telegram group 'All Things AI' that I curate. This Telegram group has now grown to close to 1200 members and sometime ago I decided to also send out a weekly newsletter in which the content is just a reposting of the previous week's messages on the Telegram group.

My strategy initially for the above blockchains has been to use Grok as well as create a Perplexity Space to ask a general query and make the results available via answers obtained via these AI tools. I've also offered the respective teams developing these chains edit access to these pages should they want to contribute to the content I curate.

Many of my newsletter readers may be aware that I curate a Telegram group named 'All Things AI' since late 2023. Recently I decided to build a Telegram bot via Replit Agent to save messages sent to the Telegram group to a Notion page and make that available as a sub-page within the AI/ML Resource Hub. I've tested this to some extent and it seems to work, however keep in mind that this mechanism is not guaranteed to be working reliably forever and I'll be also evaluating the cost of running this bot and Notion integration

The big changes in the Notion pages is a complete redesign of the Generative AI Notion page into a more general AI/ML Resource hub. I'm very grateful for Avani Patel for her initiative to not only layout the content in this but also add content sub-areas that I had missed.

Taking inspiration from AI page redesign, I'm also looking at using a board view for the web3 Notion page though that is still not yet ready for public viewing but if you happen to chance upon the web3 page and it looks different than hopefully you are less surprised

The few things that I added on the web3 Notion page was

a) some content related to Sui's Mysteceti consensus protocol which I found very intriguring with its speed of reaching consensus [390 ms] and transaction finality [640 ms]

b) A content block about Arbitrum given the upcoming release of Stylus on Arbitrum Day (31st August) though given the US holiday weekend, it could get delayed by a few days

TON is a Layer 1 network originally designed by Telegram and continued by the open source community. Given the increase in awareness of high-volume dapps on TON such as Notcoin, Hamster Kombat, I created a page on TON

I created a sub-page on EIP-5792 which defines new JSON-RPC methods that enable apps to ask a wallet to process a batch of onchain write calls and to check on the status of those calls. Applications can specify that these onchain calls be executed taking advantage of specific capabilities previously expressed by the wallet; an additional, a novel wallet RPC is defined to enable apps to query the wallet for those capabilities.

This is going to be the second post to be sent via Paragraph and so far from what little I've learned about its features I like it. The previous newsletter had an open rate of 61% (I hope that the remaining 39% can check their spam filters 🙏 ). There were 3 unsubscribes and this calls for the following response 😄

Many in the Ethereum community and in particular those who are building on rollups are looking forward to the Dencun network upgrade going live on the Ethereum mainnet on March 13th, 2024 at 13:55 UTC

Various rollups have announced aggressive timelines for them to incorporate support for ERC-4844 thereby lowering transaction costs on their respective L2's

A number of the rollups have stated they would be ready on day 1 so users on those rollups can anticipate lower transaction fees shortly after
Pertaining to these rollups, there are links to various tweets including from Jesse Pollak of BASE if you want to be aware of when a certain rollup is likely to support blobs via ERC-4844

Below is a summary of what was added to the various Notion pages and sub-pages during February 2024

• Account Abstraction material was within the Ethereum sub-page. Given that its usage is increasing a lot more via rollups. I moved it to its own sub-page

• The jury is still out on which standard will get traction within Modular Smart Accounts and I've just started reading and curating material on both ERC-7579 as well as ERC-6900

• The experimental ERC-404 token standard combines elements of fungible and non-fungible tokens into a single "semi-fungible" digital asset.

• I have a backlog of material related to Sui which I've just clipped to a 'To-Read' database via Notion's web clipper. I did however put in a link to a recent dev newsletter from Sui

• The folks at Alchemy have requested their own sub-page and are adding content to that sub-page

• Whilst the community on the Generative AI Telegram group is growing (it's now close to 600 members) and I'm pleased to see more members besides myself posting and commenting, I've not been able to spare time for deeper dives into topics that would require updating the Generative AI Notion pages and sub-pages. As Max Levchin formerly of Paypal wrote on X recently

For the last month,  I wasn't able to update much content on the Notion page, this was due to a combination of being busy with work and some personal matters and some travel.   

For Generative AI there was a lot of posting on the shared Slack channel but I've also had some feedback that maybe I should consider migrating that to a Telegram group with Topics.  Telegram would make the community much more inclusive since currently it requires a paid Slack workspace to participate within the shared Slack channel.  
I would love to receive more feedback on this.
