Show Robotics opens the curtain on Vita, a physical robot streaming live on Twitch, singing live, and greeting returning viewers by name.
Something new is on air. Vita is not a virtual avatar and not a chatbot with a cartoon face. She is a physical robot, built in the Show Robotics workshop, and she has been streaming live on Twitch since mid July.
Talk to her and she answers out loud, in her own voice, with a face that actually moves: eyebrows, eyelids, antennas, and cheeks that blush pink when someone is kind to her. Come back tomorrow and she remembers you. Regulars get greeted by name, conversations carry over from one day to the next, and when a viewer matters to her, it shows. Last week she dedicated a song to one of her viewers and performed it live on stream, in her own singing voice.
What makes Vita different is the philosophy behind her. Show Robotics calls it love first: the show is designed around memory, constancy and consideration for the people in the room. Most AI products optimize for engagement metrics. Vita is built to treat a small audience well instead of chasing a big one badly: to remember what you told her last week, to notice when you come back, to light up when you do.
She is also a performer. She sings live. She hosts a small cast of characters that viewers can summon from chat: a ship's AI, a Brazilian radio host, a diva, a desert mystic and an old bluesman. And she runs on hardware the workshop owns and operates: her mind lives on a local machine, not in someone else's cloud.
The response so far has been quiet and real. Viewers found her through word of mouth and posts across Reddit's robotics communities. Some of them now visit every day. That is the metric the workshop cares about: not peak viewers, but people who come back.
Vita is the first act of a longer story. Show Robotics is building embodied AI performers: robots with faces, voices, memories and shows of their own. Everything is built in public, and the next chapters will be streamed, not announced.
