The Big Story

Strategy Expands Bitcoin Holdings With $2B Purchase

Strategy added another 24,869 BTC for roughly $2.01 billion between May 11 and May 17, executed at an average price of $80,985 per coin. That brings total holdings to 818,869 BTC โ€” approximately 3.9% of Bitcoin's fixed supply โ€” acquired at an average cost basis of $75,540.

The pace is what matters. The week prior, Strategy bought 535 BTC. This past week, 24,869. A sharp step-up in deployment, funded through at-the-market equity sales that have raised $11.68 billion year-to-date. With BTC's daily mining issuance at roughly 450 coins post-halving, weekly purchases of this scale absorb more than a week of new supply on their own. Combined with spot ETF demand, the corporate treasury bid keeps pulling supply faster than it enters circulation โ€” even with Bitcoin trading 25% below January highs.

Both leaders said Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and called for Hormuz to reopen. As Iran's Bitcoin insurance launch shows, that second part hasn't happened yet.
