Bitcoin Drops Below $80K as Iran Rejects U.S. Hormuz Deal
BTC slid roughly 2% in 24 hours after senior Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei rejected the U.S. plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, demanding reparations for war damage before any agreement.
The rejected framework would have lifted sanctions and unfrozen Iranian assets in exchange for reopening the waterway within 30 days. With that off the table, macro pressure from elevated energy prices keeps downside risk in play. BTC hadn't closed above $80K since January 31.
