How to Use Manta Bridge for Deposits and Withdrawals

How to Restake Stablecoins and LSTs

Manta Bridge moves ETH and supported ERC-20 tokens between Ethereum Mainnet and Manta Pacific when the asset has an enabled route and your wallet has ETH for gas. Deposits usually arrive after Ethereum confirmation and processing on Pacific; withdrawals follow a longer rollup exit process unless a faster liquidity-funded route meets your needs.

Choose the Route and Asset Before Signing

Compare routes by the amount received, exit time, asset contract and source of liquidity. Manta Bridge lets you deposit from Ethereum to Manta Pacific or start a withdrawal back to Ethereum. A bridge to Manta Pacific funded by a liquidity pool may offer a faster return, but its quote depends on available liquidity, spread and provider fees.

Check the live asset selector for the direction you intend to travel. Manta Pacific’s token list includes these canonical bridge representations, but a token’s presence in a wallet or token list alone does not prove that your selected route is enabled:

  • ETH, which also pays transaction gas on Manta Pacific.

  • USDC and USDT, each with six decimals on its listed canonical representation.

  • DAI, with 18 decimals on its listed canonical representation.

  • WBTC, with eight decimals on its listed canonical representation.

Match the token contract on both chains before moving a stablecoin or wrapped asset. The canonical deposit locks the Ethereum token and credits its mapped Pacific representation; another route can deliver a different token with the same ticker. I would choose the route whose destination contract my intended application accepts, even if another quote shows a slightly larger nominal balance.

Calculate the Full Cost and Prepare Both Gas Balances

Manta bridge fees depend on the transactions your route requires, not only the amount transferred. A canonical ERC-20 deposit can require an Ethereum approval followed by a deposit transaction; an ETH deposit needs no token approval. On the return leg, budget Pacific ETH to initiate the withdrawal and Ethereum ETH for any proof and finalization transactions shown by the exit flow.

Estimate Ethereum gas as gas used multiplied by the effective gas price. For example, a transaction using 150,000 gas at 10 gwei costs 0.0015 ETH; a separate approval adds its own gas cost. Pacific transactions also charge execution gas and an L1 data component, so check the wallet’s live estimate rather than treating an earlier transfer as a fixed price.

Compare the net amount received on each route, especially for a small transfer where fixed Ethereum gas dominates. If you are depositing only USDC, include enough ETH to use that USDC after arrival. A token balance on Pacific cannot pay Pacific gas.

Deposit from Ethereum to Manta Pacific

To deposit, send ETH or an enabled ERC-20 through the Ethereum-side bridge contract and wait for the corresponding Pacific credit. The deposit message is processed after the Ethereum transaction confirms; the two balances will not change in the same block.

  1. Connect the wallet holding the asset and select Ethereum Mainnet as the source and Manta Pacific as the destination. Confirm Pacific’s chain ID is 169 in the wallet prompt so you can inspect the arriving balance on the intended network.

  2. Select the asset and enter the amount, then inspect the destination token, recipient and estimated receipt. If the route does not show the asset, do not send tokens directly to a bridge contract address; the contract may have no deposit instruction for that transfer.

  3. Approve the exact ERC-20 amount if the interface requests an allowance. Check the spender and amount in the wallet prompt; ETH deposits skip this step because ETH is transferred with the deposit transaction.

  4. Submit the deposit and retain its Ethereum transaction hash. After confirmation, inspect the same wallet address on Manta Pacific and match the received token contract, rather than relying on a wallet ticker alone.

For a before-and-after check, suppose you deposit 1,000 USDC from Ethereum. Before signing, record the Ethereum USDC contract, the quoted Pacific token contract and your recipient address; afterward, verify a credit of about 1,000 units of that mapped token, while accounting separately for the ETH spent on Ethereum gas. If the Ethereum transaction succeeded but Pacific has not credited it, use the deposit hash to check the message status before attempting another deposit.

Withdraw to Ethereum and Complete the Exit

To withdraw through the canonical path, initiate the exit on Pacific, prove it on Ethereum when eligible, then finalize it after the applicable wait. Manta Network has published a three-day challenge period for its standard native withdrawal; use the live status and eligible time for the specific exit, since faster finality or a different route can change the sequence and timing.

  1. Select Withdraw, confirm Manta Pacific as the source, and initiate the asset and amount. Keep enough Pacific ETH for this transaction; its success records an exit request, not an Ethereum receipt.

  2. Return to the withdrawal history when the exit becomes ready to prove, then submit the Ethereum proof transaction if requested. The proof ties the Pacific withdrawal message to a published rollup output, so an exit can remain pending even after its Pacific transaction has succeeded.

  3. Finalize or claim the withdrawal on Ethereum once the displayed waiting period has passed. Verify the asset’s Ethereum contract and wallet balance before considering the transfer complete.

Keep the source transaction hash until the destination balance is confirmed. I would use the canonical path when preserving a specific token mapping matters and I can wait for settlement; when time matters more, I would compare a faster route’s actual receipt and liquidity before signing.
