The STP Team is excited to announce the launch of the Verse Network testnet! There will be an invite program for community members to preview the technology and help us with this testing phase. We have been working hard building our platform on utilizing Meter’s technology, which is the first HotStuff consensus network that is open to public Proof-of-Stake validation. We will be granting access to initial participants soon. Participants will test running a full node on Verse Network and helping secure the testnet by staking with Verse wallet to delegate to validator nodes. We are excited to see how you all will use Verse’s unique elements to create and customize your own DAOs using the infrastructure and tooling that the network has to offer.

During the first few weeks of this testing period, we will monitor the participating nodes closely to ensure that everything is working as expected, and to address any issues as they occur. Once users are on the testnet, we can generate telemetry data to analyze and feed back into our development. Through this iterative and collaborative process, we will work alongside participants to optimize the system so that it is at an ideal state when it comes time for the mainnet launch. Our goal by the end of the testing period is to have the testnet be completely run by community validator nodes, and we hope you are all as eager as we are to achieve this milestone! Having a community-run testnet ensures the decentralization of the system so that it can be owned and operated by the users. In the meantime we need your help, and would be grateful to receive your feedback on everything related to your user experience. We want to serve our community by providing the most user-friendly and helpful platform for DAO creation and customization, and to do that we want to hear from you on what we can change or improve.

We’re also working to provide some novel ways for participants to engage with the testnet and monitor the network’s activity with our dashboard. There will be no persistence guarantees and tokens in the test network will not be transferable to the mainnet in any way. We expect we’ll need to regenerate the genesis block and reset the test network periodically. We will keep you all apprised before we take any such actions. Additionally, the release of our open source code will be timed to coincide with the launch of our official mainnet.
