L2 MEV wat
Special thanks to Nikete Della Penna, RJ, Matthew Finestone, and Brecht Devos for review and valuable insights.TLDRIn this article, we “map” the current landscape of L2 MEV, thinking about different MEV consequences for different L2 designs. We also briefly overview different ways of L2s decentralization and how it might impact L2 MEV.Wat is MEVDisclaimer: feel free to skip if you are familiar with MEV. For a detailed MEV explanation, check the article “Ethereum is a dark forest” by Paradigm ...

Wrapping Up Season 6, Trailblazer Role and the Road Ahead

Eldfell L3 (alpha-4) is live!
Taiko’s fourth testnet has arrived! Eldfell L3 (alpha-4) is our first experiment with inception layers and a new staking based proving design. We are launching this testnet in order to test two things:Deploying Taiko on Taiko as an L3 inception layer (a rollup on a rollup 😏)Testing a new staking based prover economicsOur alpha-N releases are always experiments to test our hypothesis on the protocol and build a more robust system. Based rollups prioritize decentralization above all else. This is a deliberate choice made to enable scaling without compromise. However, it does come with trade-offs. The biggest trade-off is speed. Since based rollups like our own Taiko Alethia don’t use a centralized sequencer like traditional rollups, transactions can take longer to finalize.
Based Preconfirmations are here to change that in a big way.
Based Preconfirmations will significantly improve the user experience on Taiko by making transactions much faster. And since we're quickly approaching the Preconfirmation Era, we’re launching “Basedliners” to help mark this exciting transition.
Set a Basedline for the Preconfirmation Era with Basedliners
So, what is Basedliners?
In short, it's a time capsule for preconfirmations that highlights the change in transaction speed.
Here’s how it works:
Make a transaction here before preconfirmations go live. This will be your “Basedline”, your entry into the time capsule.
Make another transaction after preconfirmations are enabled.
We’ll compare the time difference between the two transactions to show how much faster the Taiko Alethia mainnet has become.
You can repeat the process and make new transactions anytime during the event until you're happy with your results.
You’ll earn Trailblazers XP based on the improvement in speed between the two transactions.
We'll also hold a raffle. Five lucky Basedliners will win a Taikoon NFT!
Check out the Basedliners here:
TL;DR: Visit the Basedliners website, set your Basedline by making one transaction, then make another after preconfirmations arrive. We’ll compare the times, reward you with Trailblazers XP, and enter you into a raffle to win a Taikoon NFT.
Based Preconfirmations Are Coming
We see Based Preconfirmations as a major milestone for Taiko that will affect every part of the experience. As always, we value community input and feedback on everything we build. We invite you to get involved and be a part of this milestone. Basedliners is just the beginning, as we move closer to the launch of preconfirmations, you can expect even more surprises and events that you won’t want to miss.
Let’s keep moving forward and continue scaling Ethereum with speed and without compromise.
