We are proud that our rewards far exceed the gas fees spent to reach each level. This reflects our commitment to creating a sustainable and rewarding ecosystem for all participants.
How were your points finalized? Eligible transactions were tracked throughout Season 1, which earned you points. Trailblazers Badges, Taikoons, and Snaefell NFTs also gave you multipliers. Your final score is calculated by multiplying your points by your multipliers. So, if someone else had more multipliers than you, it’s likely they surpassed you on the leaderboard. In future seasons, there will be more opportunities to acquire multipliers, so stay tuned!
Now let’s dive into the process…
During Season 1 we encountered challenges from bad actors attempting to abuse the system. This created a bloated leaderboard which would reduce the rewards for fair-playing Trailblazers. To maintain fairness, we have taken the following steps:
Partnered with a third-party service to detect Sybil users
Conducted an internal audit
Finalized the list of eligible participants
One of the most common tactics we observed from bad faith actors was creating wallets to collect the minimum rewards. When done with a large number of wallets, this could result in significant profit for them. Therefore, we implemented anti-bloat measures by eliminating wallets with five or fewer transactions.
At the start of Trail 8 (also known as the 4x campaign), we disclosed the rules: if you withdraw your assets before the designated time, you would lose the points you earned. Repeated violations could result in being banned from Trailblazers.
Listening to our community's call for stricter measures against rule-breakers, we took the following actions:
20159 users were disqualified from Trailblazers
~1,700 addresses had their points slashed
The addresses on the blacklist have been identified as explicitly violating the fair play rules of the Trailblazer program. As a result, these addresses have been banned from Season 1 distribution as well as from participating in subsequent seasons of the Trailblazer program. Additionally, all Faction Badges associated with these addresses will be frozen and will no longer be transferrable.
Level and Rank Adjustments
The elimination of bad actors led to some shifts in level capacities and thresholds resulting in some participants moving down in Level. After the eliminations, we reduced the total participant count by around 60%. Despite this change to the leaderboard, it actually benefited fair-playing Trailblazers in the following ways:
• If a participant moved down to a lower level, they received larger rewards due to fewer participants in each level.
• On average, participants who dropped a level earned about 30% more rewards than they would have if they had remained in a higher level without the removals.
This adjustment ensures that even if your level decreased, you’re receiving more rewards compared to an unregulated leaderboard. Our verification process ensures that rule-abiding participants are protected and the program’s integrity is maintained.
Season 2 of Trailblazers is in full swing and just as exciting as Season 1! One standout feature launching alongside the Season 1 rewards release is the Taiko Lock-up Campaign, which allows you to put your well-deserved Taiko tokens to work.
