We’re excited to announce a strategic partnership with Nethermind, bringing together two teams deeply aligned on the vision of a decentralized, performant, and production-ready based rollup stack. This collaboration is grounded in a shared commitment to advancing the frontier of Layer 2 infrastructure with a clear focus on decentralization, sequencing innovation, and trust-minimized design. Together, we’re working to accelerate the evolution of the based rollup ecosystem, turning research into resilient, permissionless systems ready for mainnet.
What we’re working on:
· Preconfirmation infrastructure including PBS models, same-slot L1CALLs, and constraint APIs
· EIP-7917 implementation to support trust-minimized L2 sequencing
· ZK gas profiling and metering
· L2 fee mechanism design for composable, sustainable rollup economics
· Permissionless Mainnet-ready preconfirmation sidecars for production deployments
From Research to Implementation
This collaboration spans upstream protocol work, client integration, and open standards, all aimed at delivering mainnet-ready infrastructure with no compromise on decentralization. Together with Nethermind, we’re bringing critical systems into production and strengthening the based rollup ecosystem.
More to come.

L2 MEV wat
Special thanks to Nikete Della Penna, RJ, Matthew Finestone, and Brecht Devos for review and valuable insights.TLDRIn this article, we “map” the current landscape of L2 MEV, thinking about different MEV consequences for different L2 designs. We also briefly overview different ways of L2s decentralization and how it might impact L2 MEV.Wat is MEVDisclaimer: feel free to skip if you are familiar with MEV. For a detailed MEV explanation, check the article “Ethereum is a dark forest” by Paradigm ...

Eldfell L3 (alpha-4) is live!
Taiko’s fourth testnet has arrived! Eldfell L3 (alpha-4) is our first experiment with inception layers and a new staking based proving design. We are launching this testnet in order to test two things:Deploying Taiko on Taiko as an L3 inception layer (a rollup on a rollup 😏)Testing a new staking based prover economicsOur alpha-N releases are always experiments to test our hypothesis on the protocol and build a more robust system. So let's dive in!Inception layersInception layers are a n...
