From cancer patient to cancer coach

Dear Community,

"I am a creative person, and I need to be active."

This is exactly how Iulia introduced herself to us. Before her 2023 diagnosis of Stage 3B colorectal cancer, her life was deeply rooted in creating beauty. With a background as a sociologist and a trainer, she had eventually found her peace in the soil, cultivating flowers and running a decoration workshop.

The diagnosis stopped her world, but it couldn't stop her drive to create and connect.

Her current dream

Unable to sustain her previous physical work, Iulia needed a new outlet. She discovered painting and art therapy. Through her own intense healing process, her former life as a trainer sparked a new mission: she decided to become a certified coach.

For the past seven months, while leaning on her family to face her ongoing treatments, she has been studying intensely. Her goal is incredibly powerful: to run online support groups for oncology patients and their caregivers, helping them navigate their own healing and reach their personal goals.

"It is hard for me to expose myself in the promotion phase," she confessed, acknowledging how vulnerable it is to put herself on camera while navigating a cancer diagnosis. "But I will have to do it so those who need my guidance can find me. This is my dream."

Building the digital sanctuary

To make this dream a reality, Iulia just needed the right tools to reach people. She applied for our €500 grant with a very specific, practical list: a one-year Zoom Plus subscription, a professional microphone, a web camera, and proper lighting.

Thanks to our community, her digital sanctuary is now completely funded.

We didn't just buy electronics. We gave a creative, driven woman a new way to be active. Together, we built a safe space where future patients will find a coach who truly understands the weight of what they are going through.
