2) Zeus Bittensor Subnet (ORPHEUS AI B.V. Netherlands)

Both entered the auction with the minimum bid of 100,000 $WXM and transferred the amount to the Association's Revenue wallet:

As a result, WeatherXM AG & ORPHEUS AI are entitled use the entire network's data commercially, during 2026.

The fees from the license auction bring the total WeatherXM Network Association revenue for 2025, to 75,000 USDC and 200,000 $WXM

As you know, WeatherXM data is free for non-commercial academic or personal use, but commercial uses require a Commercial Data License.

Each year, four (4) Licenses are auctioned in the previous year. The licensees get the rights to use the WeatherXM Network Data in their products, or build value-added services on top of the data (such as APIs).

The 2026 Licenses auction ends on December 19, 2025, at 00:00 GMT. The minimum bid is 100,000 $WXM. Licenses will be awarded to the top four bidders. This is an open-bid, English-style auction.

Participants must send their bid via email to ga@weatherxm.network. The subject line should be “2026 Data License Auction.” In the email, they must state the bid amount in $WXM and the wallet address holding equal or more $WXM.

What We’ve Done So Far

• DAO Buyback Program: Completed a 30-day cycle, purchasing a significant 262,092 $WXM. A new cycle is now ongoing (21,334 $WXM purchased so far).

• Company Investment Program: Executed multiple OTC purchases , including two completed rounds (231.148 $WXM) and an ongoing allocation of 223,957 $WXM.

In this cycle, we’re targeting the buyback of approximately 40% of daily emissions. Every transaction will be transparently recorded and viewable via our improved Dune dashboard.

We understand that a healthy ecosystem needs a liquid token and in this direction, we are planning to take the following steps:

1. Starting later this week, and for 43 days, we will buy $4,000 worth of $WXM from the WXM/ETH Uniswap pool, every day.

2. Upon purchase, we will pair the purchased amount of $WXM with $4,000 worth of ETH and we will add it back to the WXM/ETH Uniswap pool.

The total cost of this program is 43 days * $8,000 = $344,000 which will significantly increase the Uniswap pool liquidity. For this purpose, we will use the recently received onboarding fees.

For commercial uses, there are  two options:

1. Purchase a Commercial Data License from the WeatherXM Network Association.

2. Get access to data through a Commercial Data License holder.

The licensing purchase approach is inspired by spectrum auctions used by governments. License holders can use WeatherXM data for their businesses, like an energy trader optimizing trades, or a meteorological company selling added value services developed on top of the data, such HTTP API access of weather forecasts.

Today we are announcing that we will auction four (4) Commercial Data Licenses that enable commercial use of data for the calendar year of 2024. The auction will run from June 30, 2024, at 00:00 GMT to July 14, 2024, at 00:00 GMT. The minimum bid is 100,000 $WXM. Licenses will be awarded to the top four bidders. This is an open-bid, English-style auction.

We understand that some terms of the current licensing (example: one calendar year license duration), might be limiting for some business cases. Licenses will evolve over time to meet the needs of the market. We’re open to suggestions that will help us get there faster and in this direction we have initiated public dialogue in our discord server.

We are also aware that bidding via email is far from efficient, especially for a web3 organization. We plan to hold the next auction (end of 2024) on-chain, but we want to get things right first.
