A friend of ours in the Tezos ecosystem (
@flexasaurusrex) hit something big this week by going viral with a MTV "reboot" site after the channel announced it was shutting down their music parts for good. Remember when MTV used to stand for "Music Television" and used to play actual music? Yeah, me neither.
He's a brilliant marketer and while it took me by surprise, in a lot of ways, it didn't either. He's always working on things, trying new things, and once in a while, it goes *boom*.π
The success of this project is kind of interesting from a cultural point of view too. It goes to show that there is a hunger among people for music that is authentic, creative, and the content actually matches the label. How MTV devolved from a great idea into a bottom-of-the-barrel tabloid rag is peak cultural irony that gets shoved down our throats every day.
