Sophia has been working at the local steakhouse, AJ’s, bussing tables. It’s a good job. $70 a night in tip plus not bad hourly wages - good I’d say - especially for the restaurant industry which has gotten away with literal starvation wages for years ( Mary is working up Penn State for 4 dollars an hour). The snows come early
Yes my friends, even early for alaska, even early for a mountain dweller. A bit shocked I must admit to see the snowflakes start coming down… but as they always said in the Frosty the Snowman cartoon we would watch religiously as children, the first snow is a magical snow, and the exhilaration of that first snowfall overpowered my sense of dread at the beginning of the six month slog though a north country winter.
