after the longest book slump (see work, life and five thousand other things), i finally surfaced and finished ruth ozeki's a tale for the being
rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
the book really started off slow and only got interesting, and deep nearer at the end. paradoxically for anybody working in tech (or in fact anybody who ricochets between loving and hating life), it's required reading. it questions the notion of technology as a neutral good, drawing parallels between the zen buddhist concept of time and the quantum physics view of temporality, all while remaining strikingly self-aware & experimental in both its form and meta-commentary.
