The interstellar object 3I/ATLAS, first discovered in July 2025, is approaching Earth. According to NASA and the European Space Observatory, it originates outside the Solar System and is moving on a hyperbolic trajectory. Scientists have determined that the object is similar in characteristics to a comet: a gaseous coma is observed around it, as well as a faint tail caused by the evaporation of ices by solar radiation.
