my career path
1) Waiter (sucked at this - stared at walls, spilt drinks, flooded sinks)
2) Tutor (sucked at this - gave students all the notes i was given by tutoring company and told them to stop paying)
3) Freelance Writer (people paid me to write about wizards and magic)
4) Meditation Teacher
5) Curiosity Club Host
6) Spiritual Friend
can't tell if the universe slaps me in the face quicker whenever I neglect to meditate in the morning nowadays or if meditation just makes the usual face-slapping nature of the universe more tolerable
either way, for better or worse, the practice has felt more and more integral overtime
the word emergency is actually pretty cool (emergence-y)
i had a personal emergency (I needed to poop).
i had a personal emergency (I spontaneously felt like lying down and watching the clouds in the park).
i had a personal emergency (someone offered me tickets to a concert).
this is NOT usage advice. committing to things is also good.
crypto culture has absolutely agency and that’s cracked but he’s cooking so what you guys don’t understand that I do about things is that society is not properly arbitraging original thought
society is going through a sexuality shame trip
some will feel ashamed by their actions, some will feel liberated
we will be ushered into bettering our ability to care for those who are pained
we will be ushered into bettering our ability to care for those who are not
and overall, maybe, our love for individual choice will increase
If reality continues to get stranger, which I assume it will...
Then practices for grounding oneself in the midst of change become useful, in order to re-orient and re-open to the reality that is now present and find it workable, and even enjoy it.
The impact of model-shattering cultural breakthrough and technological acceleration, makes extreme solid and fundamentalist belief systems seem like safety and security, but if your framework for reality is so dissonant with what is being asked of you by the raw materials of the present, that's a recipe for a freak out.
Nothing wrong with a good freak out, losing the plot can be useful in order to allow oneself to find a new (and more flexible) one.
Wisdom practices are like landing-gear made of reality itself for the vehicle that moves you across gulfs of change: Time.
It's a world of laughter
A world of tears
It's a world of hopes
And a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world
There is just one moon
And one golden sun
And a smile means
Friendship to ev'ryone
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world
