Farcaster and Zora and Base had all the opportunity in the world to build a unique app/network. And they didn’t do it. They chose not to do it, explicitly.
Lens had the right tech but the wrong team. Total fuck ups.
Would love for this to all work out some day but bearish until i see a modicum of consumer adoption strategy.
At least creators got paid though, right???
I’m not a cheerleader.
And that really hurts my social reach.
I’m cold. I’m analytical. I’m calculating reality. No one can accuse me of hyping something up, or promising something that can’t actually happen.
I’ve studied and lived through 40+ years of compute and communication.
At the end of the day I’m honest, regardless of where you sit in the chain. Dev, creator, consumer….I will tell you honest analysis. Something very few here are willing to do.
I’ve made very little money in crypto specifically because I’ve been honest. And it sucks.
It -really- fucking sucks.
But I can sleep in peace.
I know I’ve been honest,
whether you perceive it today or not.

So far Farcaster is failing and will continue to fail as it’s JUST a Twitter-clone.
You can’t beat a scaled app by replicating it.
You can’t beat Facebook by creating a Facebook clone.
You can’t beat Twitter by creating a Twitter clone.
Farcaster is a Twitter clone, for some reason.
Crypto social only wins with a new type of network and no amount of leaderboard payouts will solve this.
We wear shirts and merch of bands we love.
Musicians talk openly about what bands inspired them.
Artists often highlight, praise, and promote their inspirations.
Expressing this could be a native feature in social networks transcending art.
Thinkers, writers, builders, devs, finance people, farmers, roller skaters, coffee drinkers, etc could benefit from easily expressing the influences on their lives.
Most content on social media platforms lacks context.
At a minimum I think providing this would be useful for allowing LLMs to understand us. We can see the beginnings of this with Grok on X.
I’m exploring this space personally.
I’m coming up with a GitHub repo of the biggest influences on my thinking, and then eventually expanding to my entire life. I’ll report back if I find anything interesting lol but my intuition says there’s something big to unlock here…

Data in a processor
Data on a ledger
Data carved into rock
Data cut into vinyl
Data on paper
Data on a quipu
Data on a blockchain
It’s all just data,
with no value and no meaning.
Using the data is what gives meaning and value.
Making progress! Everything is based on Zora Creator Coins and Zora Content Coins, and soon Farcaster Collectibles too. Then Paragraph.
The important thing (to me) is changing the metrics shown.
Different metrics create different incentives.
