Official version: Lazarus, LayerZero, random Kelp DAO vulnerability. Convenient. Questions nobody answers: ❓ Why Kelp - the exact source of restaked ETH collateral flowing into Aave? ❓ Why not Compound? Why not Fluid? ❓ Why was the chain surgically precise: Kelp → rsETH → Aave V3 → $195M bad debt → -$8B TVL? ❓ Why is the culprit a group beyond any jurisdiction or accountability? My hypothesis: this wasn’t a hack. It was a message. Aave - $40B TVL, 4–6% APY on stablecoins, a direct competitor eating banks’ lunch. Traditional finance doesn’t need to attack openly. It just needs to spook liquidity and destroy confidence. Kelp DAO wasn’t the target. It was the tool. Too many coincidences to ignore. Stani, hold the line. KelpDAO / rsETH - $290M drained today. Attacker used stolen rsETH as collateral on Aave V3, borrowed WETH and vanished. Aave is sitting on bad debt it can’t liquidate. 9 protocols paused. AAVE -13%. This isn’t a single protocol bug - it’s a composability risk. LSTs are accepted everywhere as “basically ETH”. When that assumption breaks, the whole stack goes down together. DeFi gives opportunities you won’t find anywhere else. But if you don’t understand what you’re holding and why - risk is managing you, not the other way around.
