As commuting, and in-turn, the physical location becomes irrelevant for work, people will pick locations to live for *reasons* other than work - community, infra, experiences, cost.
Reasons that can be optimized. Capitalism, which is the best mechanism for optimizing things, will get its next big target: cities. People will be voting with their money and moving to cities that satisfy their needs. Picking a city to live is going to become like buying a car! Nation-states will lose power and control, and the world will steadily move towards becoming a corporation.
