The One-Click DeFi Economy

"Code is law, but humans still design that law. Liquidity fragmentation affects sustainability of yield opportunities significantly Most users stop at the number, but the real work starts when you ask what sits underneath it.

A visible APY can be informative, but it is rarely the full economic picture. This is why the displayed number should be treated as a starting point, not a conclusion.

At that point, the obvious question is what engine is producing the return. Different protocols generate yield from different engines: fees, borrowing demand, leverage, liquidations, arbitrage, or emissions.

This also helps explain why outcomes differ so much across participants. This is one of the clearest ways market maturity shows up.

The conversation is slowly shifting from excitement about yield to analysis of yield quality. The stronger framework is no longer just where to deposit, but how to structure exposure over time.

The strategy may feel productive, but the user may still be holding the less attractive side of the trade. The harder question is not whether yield exists, but who is effectively subsidizing it. A lot of so-called passive yield is really compensation for risk that has been pushed somewhere.

The market cannot move toward yield engineering without better infrastructure underneath it. The point is to reduce improvisation and make execution more deliberate. That is a much healthier foundation than relying purely on instinct and visible APY.

That is the distinction serious participants eventually have to make. It should be evaluated as net outcome, not just gross promise.
