The Northern Lights (aka polar lights) are a unique natural phenomenon that occurs in the upper atmosphere when charged particles from the solar wind break through the Earth's magnetic field and meet air molecules. Their duet forms a bizarre multi-colored glow at an altitude of about 100 km.
